00:03Round six of BSB here at Olsen Park, we're about to get the first race underway for the 1P Mobile
00:09National Junior Sport Bike Championship in the sunshine and a returning Ryan Van Newkirk is on the grid, he'll be
00:15loading up on the outside of the front row after his sensational debut in SNESSTON about a month or so
00:21ago in the championship and speaking of the championship, at the top it is Marley McKenzie who is leading the
00:27way by 19 points with just two points.
00:30Two weekends remaining following the conclusion here at Olsen Park, the question is though will he be able to extend
00:35that advantage here this weekend?
00:37Let's have a look at the championship standings then, so as you can see Marley McKenzie at the top of
00:41the table, that 19 point advantage he holds over Luca Hopkins, Benja Lyft there in third place ahead of Laken
00:46Payne, so getting on for a two, maybe a three horse race with a couple of weekends remaining following Olsen
00:51Park here and we'll see how that is set to go down and whether the complexion of it will change
00:56in Cheshire.
01:01Riders making their way round on the warm-up lap in the sunshine, slightly overcast and a little bit cooler
01:05than the weather we've had so far this weekend and indeed a lot cooler than we were at Brands Hatch
01:10a couple of weeks ago.
01:11Let's run you through the grid though for race one here of junior sport bike then, it's Marley McKenzie on
01:16pole position with Luca Wilkinson on the front row and Ryan Van Nuuker alongside.
01:21Row two is headed by Benja Lyft with Laken Payne and Isaac Mark on the outside.
01:25The third row is Luca Hopkins, the man who sits second in the championship ahead of Carlin Shuttlewood and Freddie
01:30Oakley. Row four is Mason Johnson, Lewis Mullen and Jediah Cumberbatch who returns to the championship, the Bermuda rider.
01:37Then it's Rory Kreeth, Jamie Hanks, Elliott and Arnie Carr. Row six is Jamie Muir, Sid Marshall and Archie O
01:42'Brien. Row seven, Finn Harrison, Archie Omrod and Finley Page.
01:46And then row eight for the final row is Casey Sperry and Holly Harris.
01:51So ten laps of action ready to go for the 1P Mobile National Junior Sport Bike Championship here at Alton
01:57Park.
01:57Revs are rising, we're ready to go which we wait for the red lights to come on. Lights out and
02:03run away.
02:03Good start for Luca Wilkinson off the middle of the front row, he gets the whole shot as he heads
02:06down in towards the first corner of Old Hall for the first time.
02:10And a phenomenal launch from him as Ryan Van Newkirk gets himself up into the second place then from third
02:15on the grid.
02:16So Marley McKenzie, not a particularly brilliant start to the race for the championship leader.
02:21And he needs a good start for this one as well because he knows if he gets roughed up, he'll
02:24get involved in the rough tumble with the rest of the pack.
02:28Van Newkirk up the inside as they head down through Cascades and towards Island Bend for the first time there.
02:33But Marley McKenzie, as we say, Danny, not making a particularly brilliant start to the race. Now he's got a
02:37bit of work to do.
02:37Yeah, I don't think he'd be that bothered about it, to be fair, Tom. He's got a lot of pace,
02:41but it does still hinder your plans a little bit.
02:43Look, two for one into Shell. Yeah, full of confidence. And yeah, he's trying to prove that point straight away
02:50on lap one.
02:51Yeah, sent it through on the inside, didn't he, into that hairpin. There's a lot of camber on the inside
02:54of that corner.
02:55You can make that move stick. And when he got one place, didn't manage to get the better of Van
02:58Newkirk once all was said and done.
03:00But a great launch through on the inside. I went down and spoke to the likes of Ben Jaliff as
03:06well as his teammate Mason Johnson on board the Dunsley Heat Yamahas.
03:09And so what's the plan for this race? And they said, look, we know we can get into podium contention,
03:14Jaliff in particular, but we need to make sure that Marley doesn't get away because he was 1.4 seconds
03:18quicker in qualifying.
03:19If he's got clear track in front of him, we're not going to see which way he went.
03:23Yeah, and they've done exactly that. You know, the start from Luca Wilkinson off the front row there just was
03:28like, you know, lightning speed.
03:29And yeah, Van Newkirk now just holding him, not holding him up a little bit, but just keeping him there.
03:35That's what the other guys need to all do. If they want to beat Marley McKenzie, they've got to keep
03:39him behind.
03:40They can't allow him to get in front. And Marley is going to know, look, he's made the move there
03:44and he's going to try and break away.
03:45All he needs is a couple of clear laps and that will be enough to just break a bit of
03:49a gap.
03:49Yeah, slightly wide out of the final corner of Lodge there might allow Van Newkirk to challenge back through on
03:54the staff finish straight and have the inside line as we head in towards Old Hall.
03:58Has a look there on board the MRR7, but you can see the sweeping line and the momentum that McKenzie
04:03takes around the outside,
04:05holds off the challenge from the South African rider who returns to the championship after making a sensational debut at
04:11Snetton about a month or so ago.
04:13The South African rider from Johannesburg, a double win.
04:17He managed to take all that weekend helped by the fact that McKenzie had a big crash in qualifying and
04:21bent his bike.
04:21But nonetheless, he is really a talent, I think, to watch in the future.
04:25The 18 year old. Yeah, Marley McKenzie for a sector one isn't dropping him.
04:29He's not made any like massive gap or, you know, even on the back of this group, you've got the
04:34likes of Luca Hopkins.
04:35You've got Lake and Payne there, Jolliffe there in third place. These are all, you know, protagonists for this championship.
04:42So, and they're all in this league group.
04:44Yeah, Luca Hopkins, they're slightly wide out of Shell Oil's actually just kicked up a little bit of dust on
04:48the exit of the corner.
04:49Went down and spoke to him before the start of the race and said, look, what are your plans for
04:51this?
04:52Because, you know, you're second in the championship trailing by 19 points. He said, we need to get ourselves up
04:56the sharp end as much as possible.
04:57Didn't have a particularly brilliant qualifying down in seventh on the grid, said that he was struggling with the front
05:01end feeling of the bike and they've had to turn it around and change the set up on it.
05:06And hopefully it gives him a bit more confidence and the opportunity to fight at the sharp end and give
05:10us a really exciting title fight with a couple of weekends after this one.
05:13Yeah. And, you know, they just got to keep doing what they're doing. You know, they can't afford to let
05:18Marley McKenzie get away.
05:19They can't let him, you know, when he had a bad weekend, that's when all the guys needed to make
05:24make haywire the sunshine, so to speak. And that's what they did.
05:27So right now, what they really want, what they're all going to be thinking really is Van Nuuker, get in
05:32front, hold him up back and let us all fight for this for this race win.
05:36Good start to the race for Lewis Mullen, who's just in the background of this group at the moment.
05:40You can see him there in seventh place with the red and blue number 12 machine just as he comes
05:46over the start finish line there.
05:47He's made up four places from where he started on the grid in 11th and he's now up into P7
05:53at the start of lap three.
05:54So top two still McKenzie and Van Nuuker at the moment.
05:58Places looking like they might change here with Lake and Payne up the inside.
06:01Ben Jolliffe for fourth as they come through into Cascades.
06:04Gets the move done quite nicely.
06:06And that might leave Jolliffe vulnerable here to an attack as well from Luca Hopkins.
06:10He's having a look on the inside of Island Bend.
06:12Think he'll decide to just back out of it and he does so.
06:15But yeah, it just goes to show it's when you're in a group like this.
06:18I mean, we spoke about it in other races here, Danny, this weekend in particular.
06:21You're in the position where you've got to pass or you end up being passed.
06:24Yeah, it's a really difficult track because, you know, it's very much one line in a lot of the places.
06:29So you to make a move, you really have to get yourself in that position.
06:33And usually that comes from carrying speed through the corner before like Island Bend into Shell Oils.
06:38And it is hard around here. You know, if you're not attacking, you're being attacked.
06:42So you really have to just try and push forward without letting the guys behind.
06:46See the front end wobbling there for Marley McKenzie, just chattering under brakes.
06:49Just shows you how hard he was pushing.
06:51And again, talking to some of the other riders about Marley McKenzie.
06:53They said, look, phenomenal pace he's got, but that one lap performance is great.
06:58However, he's been really on the limit.
07:00If he continues to do that in the races, who knows how sustainable that's going to be.
07:04Yeah, and that just shows you the lap time.
07:05So, you know, in qualifying, he did a 45.938.
07:07His best lap so far this race is a 47.289.
07:11So there's quite a big difference there.
07:13And all that's doing, you know, look at the amount of learning that Van Newkirk is doing behind.
07:17And Marley McKenzie is not dropping him.
07:19And we have to remember this is a new track with Van Newkirk.
07:22He's not done hundreds of laps around here like everyone else.
07:24And he's just there like a sponge soaking it all up and doing a fantastic job.
07:28Yeah, in a very different circuit to Snetterton when we last saw him in this championship as well.
07:31He said it was very similar to other tracks he's raced in like at Kailami, like at Red Soul Raceway
07:36in South Africa.
07:37But, you know, jumping on a bike and coming around the likes of Alton Park is a bit like riding
07:41a bicycle around your living room by comparison.
07:43It's so hard. And what's hard about Alton Park is you got an FB1 and you'll be like three, four
07:48seconds slower than what you're doing on the race day in the first couple of laps.
07:53And you're like, how am I going to you're going to fill the limit already at that point.
07:56And you think, how am I going to find three seconds around here? You do.
07:59It's all about Ben at Alton Park and Ryan Van Newkirk. He's doing a good job.
08:03He's just there. They're starting a gap away from the from Wilkinson there in in third.
08:10Yeah, as you say, building out that advantage, I think, at the moment, the real outlier in this is Ben
08:13Jaliff, who's on the white, pink and blue Dunsley Heat Yamaha compared to the trio of Kawasaki's in that sort
08:19of battle that he's involved with at the moment.
08:21The Yamaha not the most favorite bike in this championship. We know it's a good pace. We can see that
08:25with Van Newkirk there up into second position and still trying to challenge against Marley McKenzie's race lead.
08:31But speaking to Ben Jaliff before the start of this race, and he was saying that the thing we've been
08:35struggling with really is just sort of punch out the corners here this weekend and just getting the drive out
08:40of them.
08:40The Kawasaki, which are an inline four cylinder engine compared to the twins, they just got a bit more headroom
08:46in terms of the amount of revs that they can give.
08:48And subsequently, they're not changing gears anywhere near as much.
08:50Yeah, and sometimes what's hard in that situation is you get sucked into riding the bike how everyone else is
08:57riding around you.
08:57So he's surrounded by Kawasaki's here, and what you'll end up doing is riding how the Kawasaki's riding.
09:03Like you said, the Kawasaki revs a bit more, and oh, he's on the limit there was Van Newkirk sliding
09:10it in there.
09:11But yeah, so what Jaliff's got to do is remember that he's on a Yamaha and he needs to just
09:15work the strength of that Yamaha against Kawasaki's and ride his own race
09:19rather than trying, you know, like that might mean braking a bit earlier and carrying a little bit more corner
09:23speed.
09:23Luke Hopkins making some progress through on Jaliff as well.
09:27The lap before that, we saw Lake and Payne getting the better of the Yamaha rider.
09:30And now we'll see Luke Hopkins trying to challenge against Lake and Payne's fourth position.
09:35They're coming down through in towards Ciscades and heading towards the fastest part of the circuit in towards Island Bend.
09:40You can see how much the top two have been able to break away just to give you an idea
09:43of the difference in lap times.
09:45Last time around for Marley McKenzie was a 146.5.
09:48For Wilkinson it was a 147.4.
09:51So they're lapping around some second or so quicker as Jaliff goes toe-to-toe there with Luke Hopkins and
09:58the likes of Lake and Payne once again.
10:00Payne's now dropping down behind Ben Jaliff.
10:02It was so tight as they went through into Island Bend and somehow they've all managed to hold on to
10:07position.
10:07But the upshot is now Luke Hopkins has made up some places and is through into another position up.
10:14So he's just behind Luke Wilkinson in fourth place now.
10:18And that's fantastic riding.
10:20You know, he's qualified seventh.
10:22Okay, it doesn't look too good on paper.
10:24You know, he's up into fourth place, but that's a really, really good turnaround.
10:27You know, after having a bad qualifier and your head's always a bit low, you've got to make a few
10:31changes.
10:31You know, everyone's trying to pick you up to do a good job and he's now in the fight for
10:35the podium.
10:35And I think if you'd have asked him that yesterday when he qualified seventh, I think he'd have took that.
10:39He's on the attack here against Luka Wilkinson as well.
10:41So the two Lukas duelling for the final podium place here.
10:44This is a fantastic little squabble we've got going on between those two riders.
10:48And you wonder whether Jaliff and Payne might be able to take advantage of it.
10:51Down into Ward's Lodge corner we go.
10:53A little bit too little, too late there for the number 41 of Hopkins at the moment.
10:58Out of the final corner we go, though, and across the timeline here, side by side.
11:10Upkins still looking to try and attack here against Luka Wilkinson.
11:13Jaliff's founding the impetus and finding the move there on the inside.
11:16And Old Hall can't quite make anything stick.
11:18But now again, we're starting to see what we saw at Brands Hatch a couple of weeks ago.
11:21Those riders making some moves, starting to see those bikes making some shapes.
11:25You can see that they're obviously very small sort of CC machines, very low power.
11:29So you ride them very much in line.
11:30But when they start sort of bucking and weaving, you get them a bit sideways.
11:33That's how you know these riders are really beginning to push on.
11:36Yeah, they are pushing on.
11:37You know, we just see the lap times from the lead to their 46.7, 46.6.
11:42And what I'm impressed most about with Van Newkirk, you know, I've gone on about him a little bit.
11:47But what I'm really impressed about is at Snetton, he just got out front, Tom, and just checked out.
11:51And didn't have anyone to sort of push him or, you know, you weren't really battling with anyone.
11:55But at this point right now, I think we're going to get, you know, as we get to the later
11:58stages of this race,
12:00we're really going to see these two start going for it.
12:02And right now, what I'm looking for is where's the obvious place?
12:05And at the minute, Marley's doing a really good job.
12:07He's riding really defensively.
12:08He's still fast and able to carry the corner speed.
12:11And Jalef laced on the brakes in towards his ease, has a bit of a look.
12:14That pushes the 41 of Luca Hopkins slightly off line going through there,
12:19which then might compromise his run on the exit of the corner as they come up the rise through Nickerbrook
12:23and head towards through it.
12:25He doesn't quite allow an opportunity for a move at the moment.
12:28And Wilkinson there now under pressure here from Hopkins, who's having a look on the inside into Druids.
12:32Can't fit my thing about finding a way through into there at the moment.
12:36They're just coming up to the back of Holly Harris, the top two as well, of Marley McKenzie and Ryan
12:41Van Newkirk.
12:41And you wonder whether that might present an opportunity here for Van Newkirk to challenge for this race lead as
12:48well.
12:49Still just over three laps to go here for this one.
12:51And I have to say really impressed with how well that Luca Wilkinson in particular is riding at the sharp
12:56end as the top two do just get through on Holly Harris at the start of lap seven.
13:00Wilkinson, the 2024 Benzie Team Green Junior Cup champion, broke his leg back in 2022, actually returned to racing a
13:06year or so later.
13:07Now jumping, of course, on board the Kawasaki is part of the Junior Sport Bike Championship and is doing a
13:14fantastic job of just not allowing any mistakes to creep in here.
13:18Whilst Hopkins has been continually piling this pressure on.
13:20Yeah, the battle for top Luca. It's what we like. It's what we like.
13:25But yeah, I mean, they're both doing a fantastic job. They've made a massive step up from the Superteens last
13:29year where they were riding very similar motor machines.
13:32Obviously, these bikes have got different electronics. Oh, a lake of paint around the outside there.
13:36And Holly Harris, yeah.
13:37And Holly Harris just set up as well. It was a little bit of an awkward one, that one, for
13:40them both, but they both handled that really well.
13:42Yeah, he just got caught in the wrong place at the wrong time going through there. The rest of the
13:45riders got through all sort of on the inside.
13:47And then he had no choice but to go for the outside line through Shell Oils.
13:50And as you can see, it's cost him a few bit lengths and just drops him out of sort of
13:54that touching distance for the time being.
13:56Meanwhile, Danny, at the sharp end of this one, still McKenzie and Van Newkirk, who knows how you haven't been
14:02able to separate them at all over the course of this race.
14:04And indeed, like the last lap, they were lapping within half a tenth of a second of each other.
14:08Yeah, it's been like that for the last three laps. They're super close. And, you know, at the minute, whatever
14:12Marley can do, Van Newkirk can do as well.
14:14But I wonder if Marley let him pass what he would be able to do. Would he be able to
14:19follow, you know?
14:20Here's Hopkins. Here comes Hopkins up the inside of Luka Wilkinson, through to Druids. That's a brave move there.
14:25Can he hold the line? Does he run it a bit wide? He does. But he's managed to continue the
14:28momentum and carry that speed through the corner.
14:31Might leave in vulnerable to a retaliation, though, from Wilkinson, who does send it through down in towards Lodge Corner.
14:36He, in turn, is also going to run a bit wide because the track drops away through there.
14:41And now they will go side by side down the start-finish straight then. So Wilkinson ahead for the time
14:45being.
14:45But here comes Luka Hopkins. Is he going to fancy a slice up the inside down into Old Hall?
14:49He is. Let's the brake off. Runs it a bit deep through there. Off onto the kerb on the outside.
14:54And this is a fantastic tussle for position between these two riders. And the upshot is, after all is said
15:00and done,
15:00it's Hopkins who does manage to get up into that final podium place. Crucial for his challenge in the championship
15:06at this late stage in the season.
15:09Down the back straight we go, in towards Island Bend. Wilkinson looking to try and attack, though, once more.
15:15Brave move through there, even on these smaller capacity machines, and gets the move done really nicely. Back through for
15:19third once again.
15:21Yeah, I'm just looking at the lap times there. Sorry, Tom. And the lap times from these guys just battling
15:26so...
15:26Oh, who's that? It's the number six.
15:29I think it's Jamie Hanks-Elliot that might have gone down. Yeah, it is.
15:32Yeah, it's Hanks-Elliot.
15:32So I think she's up and okay, which is the main thing, but that looks like it was down at
15:35the Hizzy Chicane to me.
15:36Yeah. So there'll be a yellow flag out there at the minimum. Can't remount in BSB, so that'll be the
15:40end of her race,
15:41as we see Laken Payne having a look over his shoulder.
15:44Yeah, I was just looking at the lap times from last lap.
15:48I think it's Rory Kreeth actually, I beg your pardon. It's actually at Cascade, so let's have another look.
15:53I know, he lost the front late on in the corner, just in the back of your picture there.
15:57What was interesting there, Tom, was ahead of Rory Kreeth there, there was another one of the Rocket rookies having
16:04a bit of a moment.
16:04As you see on screen here, the two Lukas duking it out.
16:08But what this is doing is this is allowing the leaders to just break a massive gap.
16:13They've got five and a half seconds now and, yeah, you know, these guys are now just in that position
16:18to fight for the podium.
16:20And that's the thing, it's nice to have that comfortable cushion as Hopkins goes back through on the inside of
16:24Wilkinson.
16:24Bit of a blocked pass there down at the final corner. That might compromise their drive and allow the likes
16:29of Jullif and also Laken Payne to join in on the party as well.
16:32Over the timeline we go, Hopkins in front for the time being. Payne attacking against Jullif in the background there
16:37as well.
16:37Wilkinson back through on the inside of Hopkins, sits him up in the middle of the corner.
16:40He's going to run him off to the curb and also then open the door here for Ben Jullif to
16:44attack on boards that Dunsley Heat Yamaha.
16:47They're going to flick it through into the left-hander and then the right as they come down through Cascade.
16:52And Hopkins is able to hold on to that position for the time being as Laken Payne off onto the
16:57grass on the exit of the corner there.
17:00Good job, it's dry. Keep it pinned.
17:02Yes, exactly. Just a handful of gas and hope for the best then. Right, one and a half laps to
17:07go.
17:07And this is a fantastic four-way scrap for position at the moment that Wilkinson is at the head of.
17:13Yeah, I think Mackenzie might have broke Van Newkirk a little bit here. He's four and a half attempts he
17:18pulled that last lap.
17:19And yeah, he means business. And I just don't know if Van Newkirk has quite got enough to beat him.
17:26But he certainly has took a massive chunk of time of, you know, from his previous sessions where we knew
17:32that would be the case.
17:33Just learning the track, seeing everything Marley's doing, you know, and that's exactly what he needs to do.
17:38Well, the likelihood is we're going to see Marley McKenzie probably moving on to pastures new at the end of
17:42this season.
17:43And maybe into the likes of the Sportbike Championship, possibly even the Stop 1000 Championship, we understand as well.
17:48Superstop might be a place where Marley McKenzie could find his home in the future.
17:53But Van Newkirk, hopefully we'll see him out in full capacity in the Junior Sportbike Championship for the 2027 season.
18:00As Jalif goes side by side there with Laken Payne through Druids.
18:04Yeah, that's not a nice place to be going side by side. It's a double apex right-hander.
18:08Here we go then. Luka Hopkins on the inside of Luka Wilkinson.
18:11Once again, they make positions and Laken Payne gets the better of Jalif who runs it a bit deep on
18:15board his Yamaha.
18:15We come to start the final lap of racing then here in the 1P Mobile National Junior Sportbike Championship for
18:21Race 1 at Alton Park.
18:23And here comes Wilkinson back again on Hopkins. Through on the inside down at Old Hall.
18:27Runs it a bit deep though. That's going to cost him drive, cost him a bit of momentum and he
18:30knows it.
18:31He moves over quite aggressively on Hopkins there who sticks an arm and says,
18:34What on earth are you doing? Down the hill we go in towards Cascate.
18:37Inside line for him. Jalif looking to attack against Laken Payne there as well.
18:41And somehow Wilkinson is now back through on Hopkins.
18:45Yeah, that's a bit naughty that out of turn one, you know, trying to go to the right hand side
18:48to stop people coming past.
18:49You know, can be a little bit dangerous and not sure if the race control will take a little look
18:54at that just to double check.
18:55But yeah, listen, you want to beat everyone, but you want to do it fairly.
18:59Look jolly fuck the inside of Laken Payne. Laken Payne could end up here just sweeping into this mess and
19:03ended up on the podium.
19:04A reminder that Luka Hopkins, the man who is closest to Marley McKenzie in the championship, whatever happens here, if
19:09McKenzie goes on to take the win, he's going to increase that advantage.
19:12But Hopkins needs that third place, needs as many points as he can to try and reduce the amount of
19:17points that McKenzie is going to hold over him with just two weekends remaining.
19:21Down the back straight we go. In towards Hissies then. On the inside, he's meant to lift. Can he make
19:26that stick through there? He can.
19:28On Luka Hopkins, that was a brave move on board the Dunsley Heat Yamaha and somehow he's managed to make
19:33it work. Absolutely phenomenal.
19:35And now just two corners remaining here to separate these riders on the podium. Could we see Jalif sneaking his
19:41way through to the final podium place?
19:42Or is Hopkins going to retaliate and attack once again as they come through into the right-hander of Druids?
19:48No room at the end for them for the time being.
19:50McKenzie's going to clean up with this one for the victory. He's a second or so ahead of Van Newkirk
19:54as he exits out of the final corner.
19:56And blasts his way to the chequered flag to take his eighth win of the season. It's Marley McKenzie on
20:00top from Ryan Van Newkirk.
20:02And a big wobble out of the final corner there for Luka Wilkinson. He's banging handlebars here as they come
20:07to the chequered flag.
20:08And who gets third place? It is Wilkinson ahead of Luka Hopkins. Jalif loses out to Laken Payne as well
20:14and drops down to sixth place at the chequered flag.
20:18So close behind there as well. You've got the likes of Carr ahead of Mason Johnson and also Isaac Mark
20:23and Lewis Mullen all in the mix for the final places in the top ten.
20:27But when all was said and done at the sharp end of that race, Marley McKenzie, an overwhelming advantage he
20:33had on pace in qualifying and he takes his eighth win of the season.
20:39Three wins in a row for Marley McKenzie as well. The rider on board the Kokoldi Kawasaki. Ryan Van Newkirk
20:46on his return to the championship takes P2 as well for the South African rider from Johannesburg.
20:52And, well, Luka Wilkinson will be thanking his lucky stars. That was a big wobble he had out of that
20:56final corner, Danny.
20:57And amazingly, he managed to hold on to third. Yeah, he was a bit bit too loose there. I mean,
21:02he sort of come out the corner.
21:04He had a high side. He moved back across to stop people coming around the outside of him and managed
21:08to pinpoint, you know, get himself into third place.
21:11So I don't know if race control will look at that. We've got no I was just looking at some
21:15of the riders then.
21:16They were sort of gesticulating towards him as if he had done something wrong.
21:21So, I mean, race control are really, really hot on dangerous riding and especially in these younger classes with the
21:27less experienced riders.
21:28So if they thought it was dangerous, they'd investigate it, obviously.
21:31But at the minute we're not being, you know, told or shown any of that.
21:34So, yeah, did a great job, but just gave everything to hold on to that podium position.
21:38Yeah, I think Ben Joliffe will be a bit disappointed with how it all worked out once was said and
21:42done because sixth position over the line is not what he was hoping for, especially when he was battling for
21:47a podium.
21:47And ultimately, he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time for Luca Wilkinson, though.
21:52Great result on board the number 76, the speedy freight NW racing Kawasaki.
21:57That's his second podium finish of the season after a couple of weekends really in the doldrums.
22:01Let's have another look at what happened into that last corner.
22:03So you can see Wilkinson goes to the defensive line.
22:05Joliffe's on the outside down here and challenges for third position.
22:09Then you see a big wobble there and ultimately Joliffe has to get out of the gas and that allows
22:13Hopkins to come through on the inside.
22:16And Payne also was right on the limit, but managed to hold firm with his track position.
22:22And Joliffe really was just sort of the big loser on board the Yamaha.
22:25Yeah, obviously it looked dangerous from our side of things because Wilkinson moved right over on Joliffe there as they
22:31come up over the hill.
22:31But what Wilkinson actually did was he looked over his right shoulder and didn't know Joliffe was on the outside
22:36of him there on the left until they sort of touched.
22:38So I don't think it was as intentional as it looked initially from from Wilkinson.
22:44But yeah, you're going to be you're going to be upset if you're Joliffe because you're in a fight for
22:49a championship and you've just finished sick when using the in the fight for a podium.
22:53Meanwhile, Marley McKenzie takes the win.
22:58Let's get confirmation of the results following the first race for National Junior Sport Bike Action here at Alton Park.
23:04It's McKenzie who takes his eighth win of the season from the returning Ryan Van Newkirk.
23:08Then it is Luca Wilkinson in third place ahead of Luke Hopkins and Laken Payne.
23:12Ben Joliffe will be a disconsolate sick place for the Yamaha rider ahead of Arnie Carr and Mason Johnson with
23:18Isaac Mark and also Lewis Mullen,
23:19who we were singing his praises up into about seventh place earlier on in the race.
23:22But ultimately, he got tackled and sort of roughed up towards the end of that one.
23:27Shufflewood, Cumberbatch, Hanks Elliott, Sid Marshall and Jamie Muir are the riders who complete the points finishes.
23:35And now here's what it means in the championship.
23:3719 points was the advantage for Marley McKenzie going into this weekend.
23:41Now it's up to 26 with another race to go tomorrow here in Cheshire ahead of Luke Hopkins.
23:47Then you've got Joliffe in third position, who's now just starting to sort of lose touching distance with the top
23:53two as it stands for now.
23:54Laken Payne, Lewis Mullen, et cetera, all further down who are in that podium fight as we saw.
23:59Wilkinson elevates himself up into seventh place in the championship after his podium here this afternoon as well.
24:14Well, that's just about all we've got time for here at Alton Park today.
