00:00Unfortunately, we moved to some teams that are a little bit perplexing.
00:03This is honestly the one at the deadline that I didn't see coming,
00:07and I still don't understand it.
00:08Tom, the Minnesota Twins, like, what is going on with the Twins here?
00:14I mean, I give them credit.
00:17Okay, first of all, I really do like Dean Kramer.
00:19I know he's had a bad year, and he had that optical issue the other day
00:24with Pete Alonzo, where he was, like, pointing to his eyes,
00:28and everyone saw it and thought maybe he was, like, showing him up.
00:30I don't know if that's the case or not,
00:32but I do think Dean Kramer is good for your five innings, three earned runs,
00:36which is exactly what Minnesota seems to get from every single one of their starters.
00:40They gave back a prospect in Jomardo Reyes,
00:42but, you know, the Twins, Tom, didn't have to make this trade, you know?
00:47Like, they didn't have to get Dean Kramer.
00:49They're choosing to get Dean Kramer.
00:50I mean, the only thing that I can think with this,
00:53after firing or letting go or parting ways with their president,
00:57and then their assistant general manager,
01:00so this is Falvey and Thad Levine over the last couple of years
01:04firing their manager, Rocco Baldelli.
01:07Byron Buxton is out.
01:08Like, the only thing I can think of, I hate to say it here,
01:12is that the ownership must really want to go for it or something here, Tom,
01:16like, within reason.
01:16It's the only thing that I can come up with
01:19that they are, like, asking their current front office to pivot
01:23because, on paper, Tom, I see a bad team.
01:27I mean, I'll give credit to Houston.
01:29I thought they were dead, but at least Houston has your nod, you know?
01:32Like, at least they have Paredes and Pena.
01:34Like, the Twins, like, it's a minor deal,
01:38and I don't want to make too much of it,
01:39and if they do nothing, I know they got mint or two,
01:42but if they do nothing between now and Monday,
01:45then I'll say, okay, like, you know, that's fine.
01:48And they just made some little tinkering moves.
01:50But, Tom, are the Twins pushing the foot down too much here?
01:52I know Twins fans will be mad at me for this,
01:54but, like, what are they doing?
01:56You know, they're pushing the foot down.
01:59Whether it's too much, I think it's yet to be seen,
02:01but they're in a wild card spot right now, right?
02:03As of Sunday morning, you know, the second,
02:05they're in a wild card spot right now.
02:08The AL wild card race is all over the place.
02:10Texas is dropping.
02:12Cleveland is dropping.
02:13You said they were going to, you know,
02:13beat around by the Dimebacks, which they are.
02:16And when you're looking at a Twins roster that are bottom five in the league
02:20for most runs allowed, you need pitching help.
02:23And so the fact that they're doing this without Buxton,
02:26we mentioned, is out.
02:28Like, are they just saying, like, hey,
02:30like, we can take some reasonable shots on some players.
02:32We're not giving up a whole lot.
02:34It's a prospect for an MLB pitcher.
02:37We're in the playoffs at the season ended today kind of conversation.
02:40So, yeah, I think it's just that they're taking a reasonable swing at things
02:44just because why not?
02:45And to go into a wild card, and even if they lose that,
02:49they can build on that going into next year.
02:51I see this as very minor moves that if they don't make the postseason,
02:56I'm not going to be shocked.
02:56And if they do make the postseason,
02:58I think it's just because other teams around them are just so terrible.
