00:00You know, certainly the Yankees have made a lot of headlines in terms of injuries this week.
00:04George Lombard Jr., who made his debut in one of the historic nights in baseball with him and his brother,
00:11both homering in a major league and a minor league game, unfortunately defensively,
00:16is now getting the comps from Anthony Volpe, who made six straight errors,
00:20first time in 100 years or more that a Yankees infielder did this.
00:26And then, unfortunately, now we don't have the MRI results of what happened on Sunday, Tom.
00:32And so for those of you who are watching and say, hey, we know and you don't.
00:35It's not true. We're just doing this at a certain time of the day.
00:39He's right now day to day. But I'm going to say, Tom, I'm going to reserve the right to change
00:43my mind
00:44based on what I find out late Sunday night on George Lombard Jr.
00:48But this is like, you know, for me, this is tough.
00:50Like I know him and I know the family and I hate to see this sort of stuff.
00:54What do you make of what's going on here? Is it anything further than just bad defense?
00:59To me, it just seems like bad defense.
01:01I know, you know, people immediately want to have revisionist history and be like,
01:04oh, you know, we didn't like Volpe. Call up this guy.
01:08He's supposed to be better. He comes in, you know, with electricity in his first game.
01:12And then, oh, what do you know? It's back to errors.
01:14Like the grass isn't always greener. Like whatever cliche you want to use.
01:18It's like, I just think these are growing pains. To me, this seems like a player who's played
01:22less than 30 some odd games, 40 some odd games in the MLB, whatever it is, he's going through some
01:27growing pains. And if the knee is an issue and that's impacting and that's what's causing a
01:32portion of the errors, okay, I can get behind that. I would want to know what the actual
01:36extent of the injury is, which to your point, we don't have the actual results as of now.
01:40But to me, I just see this as growing pains. It's going to happen for young players.
01:43There's a little bit of wonky, weird baseball history. Something hasn't happened in 100 years.
01:48Sure, that's fine. But I don't see this as much more than that.
