00:00I think that we certainly have to say that the biggest trade of the day was Adley Rutschman going from
00:05Baltimore to Boston.
00:07I think that was one that I think took some people by surprise because, as Joe, you pointed out before
00:14we got on the air, it's in the same division.
00:16And it's almost as if Baltimore was trying to chase down Boston, potentially for a wildcard spot.
00:24And now they've helped the Boston Red Sox.
00:26I don't think there's any question about that.
00:28There's no other way to look at it when you end up doing that.
00:31So Rutschman immediately becomes the starting catcher for the Red Sox for this year and then for next year.
00:38And then it becomes a free agent.
00:40But we're not going to play prospect geniuses here.
00:43But the reality is, is that Baltimore is basically invaded and taken over the Red Sox farm system, Joe.
00:51Like they've taken over a lot of their first round picks, a lot of their highly touted prospects,
00:54which is a little surprising to see because, again, it's only a player with control for this year and control
01:01for next year as well.
01:02So what does it mean?
01:04It means, Joe, that the Red Sox are clearly feeling pressure.
01:07The, you know, the front office is feeling pressure.
01:09They made this run out of the doldrums, back into a potential playoff spot.
01:14They're playing the best baseball of anybody in baseball right now.
01:17And they are the one team, I would say today, Joe, that is all in.
01:21The Red Sox are all in now.
01:22That's it.
01:23There's no turning back.
01:23If they don't make the playoffs or they lose in the first round, they have just unloaded everything to get
01:29to the playoffs this year.
01:31So that was a little surprising.
01:33I would say, you know, it was interesting that you off the air said that the Cubs, you weren't really
01:37sure about them.
01:38Now, I'm not sure about the Cubs any time the playoffs begin because I think they're going to get knocked
01:41out.
01:42But I thought adding Gossman and now adding Clay Holmes to a starting pitching staff that needed pitching,
01:49I thought those were a couple of really good moves for them.
01:51Now, I don't know what Gossman's going to be.
01:53He's not the same guy that he used to be.
01:56But they also get Tyrone Taylor as well, who can mash left-handed pitching.
02:00So I think if the Cubs are done, and my guess is they are, I think they've done enough to
02:06get themselves back into the postseason again.
02:09Do I still trust these guys to go far, Joe?
02:12No.
02:13I've seen the story before, and I'd probably take the other side of whoever they play in the playoffs.
02:18But I think at least for now, I think they've done a pretty good job as well.
02:22But I want to caution people, though, because I've been down this rodeo or this street a million times,
02:28and we're still going to see stuff happen between now and 6 p.m.
02:32I think the reason why Foster Griffin or the Washington Nationals hasn't been traded is because I think this could
02:37end up being a huge blockbuster for whoever gets Foster Griffin in the next hour.
02:42I think that the Nationals are playing this thing right down to the wire at 6 p.m.
02:47Maybe Casey Mize is another name that goes.
02:50But some of the needs that most of the teams, I think that they were addressed, which is rare.
02:55Usually it all happens in the last hour, but a lot of it happened today.
02:59And then I'm talking a lot, but the last one I want to review, and then I'll throw it back
03:03to you,
03:04is the trade that the Phillies made to get Luis Arias.
03:09I don't know what that's going to mean for their future.
03:13It doesn't seem like they gave up a ton to get him.
03:15There's a lot of moving parts now.
03:17Arias will play second.
03:19Bryce Harper will go to the outfield.
03:21Alec Boehm will go to first base.
03:24Arias is the National League's leading hitter.
03:26He certainly will help them get to the postseason.
03:29I'm still a believer that the Phillies are good.
03:32I'm not buying that this is a collapse for them.
03:34And I think that they now have put themselves in a better position to win as well.
03:39So we'll go through it all.
03:40There were a lot of trades today.
03:41But off the top of my head, in today's trades, those are the ones that really stick out to me.
03:46Number one, the Red Sox all in.
03:49Number two, Cubs doing just enough to solidify a playoff spot.
03:53And number three, never forget it, Joe.
03:55When LeBron talks, or Harden talks, or Brady talks, or Bryce Harper talks,
04:02the front offices react.
04:03And they reacted to him, Joe.
04:05No question about it.
