00:19Hello studios, I'm coming to you from La Guaira, from Katia La Mara. We are
00:24particularly in the Playa Grande sector. This, what you see behind me, are
00:29the towers from the Luisa Cáceres complex and particularly this is the Tower C.
00:37This building was actually standing just two days ago and it was part of the first
00:44controlled demolitions that are being carried out here in La Guaira and very
00:49important to bring information from the territory. We've been talking to the
00:54engineers in charge, to the volunteers who are continuing the rescue operations, to
00:59the families who have also been involved in the entire process, leading it also.
01:07Well, the fact is that this controlled demolition was actually alerted by the
01:15same families and the engineers that were working on site because this building
01:20that you see here, Tower C, was still standing but it had collapsed in its first
01:27floors. The first floors of the building had collapsed. There are bodies, family
01:31members to be rescued from there, but the remaining of the building that was
01:37standing but in very poor conditions just a few days ago was an imminent risk to
01:43those who were carrying out the rescue operations, who were trying to recover
01:47the bodies also from the from the site right next to it. That was the Tower D that did
01:54completely collapse in the double earthquakes of June 24th. It was a risk for the
02:02entire teams working there. It also hindered the work of the heavy machinery.
02:08Actually, when we were here two days ago, the machinery were not working because the
02:13the movement that they caused was a risk in terms of that they could come and
02:21and propagate that that collision that could be a damage and a risk to everyone working here.
02:29So seeing that state, the families and the teams working here put on an alert.
02:36It was coordinated with the government teams working here. We have public works for example,
02:41that are deployed in the site right now and now that the demolition was carried out.
02:48This happened yesterday. As you see, the rescue operations did not stop. On the contrary,
02:54they are ongoing and even with a more more capacity right now because the machinery are working.
03:04The teams are deployed. There's no risk of more damage happening. So now the teams can focus

03:17for the loved ones who sadly passed away in the sites after the twin earthquakes of June 24th.
