00:20Welcome, Belén, to From the South. What can you tell us was the newest updates in this reconstruction path?
00:29Hello, Luis. How are you? Exactly as you were saying, the inspections are underway.
00:33They continue. They have been underway for weeks now.
00:36We are in Quinta Crespo in the Santa Teresa Parish.
00:39And what you see behind me is a building that has just been inspected.
00:43It's just finished. Actually, maybe if the camera will catch it, you will see the yellow card, the yellow signal
00:52that has been just pasted there.
00:55We were there for the final inspection. Let's recall yellow means that the structure of the building has not been
01:02compromised.
01:03So there's no risk of collapse. There's no imminent risk to those who are inhabiting the building.
01:09But there is need for urgent reforms. That is what the yellow means.
01:14And in this case, for example, in this building that we were just showing, the yellow has to do with
01:20basically the water tank.
01:23You know, that is one of the elements that have suffered the most.
01:26And that the engineers who are carrying out these inspections are mostly witnessing and looking for the water tanks because
01:34they are many of them are on air.
01:37They, of course, have put a lot of weight on the structure and many of them need to be repaired
01:45or reinforced in order for the structure to be safe.
01:48Also, some leakage that the building had not from the earthquake, but before.
01:54But you know that the earthquakes of June 24th did put a lot of stress on the structures.
02:00So some things that needed repaired beforehand now need urgent repair because, for example, the prior leakage that a building
02:08could have and was needed maintenance now are damaging basic structures.
02:14So the engineers are being reinforcing the need for those things to be urgently repaired.
02:20So if you come with me, because we are following one of the inspection crews that are walking, that are
02:27walking and caring for this parish in particular.
02:31These are brigades that are composed by the presidential commission that are articulated with the commune spokespersons of the commune
02:43leaders that make up this territory in particular.
02:46We are in the Martin Mosqueda commune and that commune is made up of different communal circuits.
02:53In particular, this communal circuit is the leaders of Quinta Crespo commune.
02:59And what you see now on camera are some of the engineers that are in charge of this brigade who
03:05are talking to those responsible for this business shop in particular.
03:12So they have just finished on the building we were talking about.
03:16Now they're talking to the owners of this building in particular.
03:20And they are waiting together with the residents of the building next door to go.
03:25Of course, these structures are all together.
03:28So what affects one can affect the other as well.
03:31That is what why this inspection is done, not just building by building, but going from neighbor to neighbor, sometimes
03:39needing to come out and speak to the neighbors together because they have walls that are being shared.

04:18It's a good news in the context that we are as the path continues to recover.
04:24Everyone is doing the job.
04:25And as soon as possible, people will return to their life and to the normal life before the earthquake as
04:31their recovery, as the reconstruction and reparations to their buildings is being done.
