00:01Reconstruction work is moving forward in Caracas with the goal of repairing buildings affected
00:05by the double earthquakes.
00:07Our colleague Belen de los Santos visited the elite building in San Bernardino and brings
00:11us the following story.
00:15After the earthquake comes the reconstruction.
00:18At the elite tower in San Bernardino Parish, Caracas, work began 15 days ago.
00:24From site management to the interior repair work, many of these tasks are led by women.
00:30We have completed the controlled demolition phase.
00:34We are now rebuilding the walls we demolished and applying a new design to reinforce the
00:39facade walls with three 8-inch rebar metal reinforcements using epoxy anchors.
00:46This will allow me to mitigate the risk in the event of any earthquake.
00:50The building has been classified as yellow.
00:52It suffered no structural damage, but it does need repairs so that the residents can return
00:57to the most affected apartments.
01:00That is the task Xiomara and Zoraida have taken on.
01:03Women in power here, working, supporting, and helping the people of the elite building.
01:07We're very happy.
01:11We are the ones who have the power.
01:14We are the fighters, the warriors who are working every hour, every moment, day and night,
01:19even before dawn, supporting people so they can recover their homes.
01:23The women who live in the building also play a fundamental role, from providing the much
01:28anticipated coffee to taking a direct part in the work.
01:32We all help each other here.
01:34I also tore down walls.
01:35I also pitched in.
01:36I helped a lot because, like you said, I take the initiative so that we can all come
01:41together and, well, move forward as they say.
01:44They all agree on one thing.
01:46Collective work is essential to move forward, and they too are part of the Venezuela Rises Again
01:52plan.
01:53On camera, Marcos Da Silva, Belen de los Santos, for Tell us your English, from Caracas, Venezuela.
