00:00Hey guys, welcome to The Mention. I'm Serena. I'm Cecily. And I'm Arianna. And
00:04this is your weekly roundup of everything pop culture lovers have been
00:07buzzing about this week. And this week our bartender Estelle has mixed us up
00:14something really fun. What are we drinking today? We're drinking the Summer Breeze.
00:19So I'm making a super refreshing cocktail that's rum based in my shaker
00:24tin already. I've got some Fino Sherry fresh lime juice and creme de cacao. I'm
00:28going to add an ounce and a half of the Diplomatico Planas white rum. Give it a
00:35little shake. Pop the shaker. For garnish we're going to spank a little mint
00:51leaf to release some essential oils, a little aroma. Spank. It's a naughty
00:57daytime cocktail. Little Angostura Bitters and a flower. Wow. I didn't even know
01:03spank your set today. Naughty drinks we have. If you didn't spank it I don't want it okay. This is
01:11actually perfect because I'm going to Miami this weekend. Okay. You know. She just wanted to say I'm
01:15going to Miami this weekend. I definitely did. I'm going to pretend like I'm in college again. Yes. Spring break.
01:20Oh this is refreshing. So guys hot tea.
01:23You're going to need these drinks. Okay. Feel it. Let's get the bad news out of the
01:27way first because I don't want to go into Miami with any bad juju. So let's just get the bad
01:31news
01:31out of the way first. Snapchat ran this extremely insensitive and honestly
01:35extremely tone-deaf advertisement this week. There was a game called would you
01:40rather and the question that was posed was would you rather slap Rihanna or punch
01:44Chris Brown and had pictures of them and there were graphics and it was just
01:48obviously very problematic. Now I don't think that I need to explain why this is
01:54honestly like messed up for any reason because like let's just get some more
01:58examples other than like bodily violence but in this specific case as you all
02:02probably remember in 2009 after the Grammys where Rihanna and Chris Brown was
02:06still dating they were notoriously involved in a domestic violence incident
02:09it got really nasty it was a public spectacle there were pictures of
02:14Rihanna's battered face all over the internet it was it was bad it was a bad
02:17situation and this was just extremely not funny and because Riri is the hero that
02:22we deserve she called Snapchat out on it and she basically was like this I don't
02:28have any feelings about this which also can you believe it's been ten years? That is
02:32crazy it seems like just yesterday almost. It makes me feel old actually but she was
02:36like I don't have any personal feelings about this she was like but for
02:38everybody else who's ever been in a situation of domestic violence people
02:42who are still in those situations who are trying to get out you let them all
02:44down you can keep your app-ology is what she said because Snapchat did issue an
02:51apology about running the ad so she basically just said throw the whole app
02:54away which is like a bad week for Snapchat or a bad month for Snapchat because Kylie Jenner said that
02:59she wasn't using Snapchat anymore
03:00to stop plummeted so and the new update is trash so yeah and she even opened her
03:05whole message with like you're my least favorite app anyway so I feel like Snapchat
03:10not a good week. I'm on that Insta stories kick right now. Yes me too apparently Rihanna too yeah y
03:15'all are on thin ice right now
03:17anywho more weird news Kendall Jenner made headlines this week and it's not what you
03:22would think so she came out for being heterosexual which I didn't think it was
03:27something that you would do but okay she covered the latest issue of Vogue and was
03:32interviewed by Jonathan Van Meter and it was a weird interview that I read kind of I
03:37was about I mean I thought her cover photo is beautiful but I'm a little about it all
03:42anyway so the interviewer Jonathan said basically point-blank asked her he was
03:46like why does the internet seem to think that you are gay first of all I don't
03:50think that anyone should just point-blank ask someone about their sexuality it's
03:53up to them if they want to come out even though she's a celebrity puts a lot of
03:56her life out there like it's it's a weird thing to ask what do you guys think? I also
04:01think that I think that the interviewer like outed himself is straight because I
04:06think that this whole conversation about Kendall Jenner being a lesbian was kind of
04:09like started as like an inside joke amongst like lesbian Twitter and like
04:13lesbian Instagram but it kind of like claimed her as their slash our own but
04:19you know like I think that it wasn't that serious and like he really like
04:22tried to make fetch happen and like make it serious news and it just wasn't
04:26use it as a headline like yeah like I don't know it just felt very flat I thought he was
04:30kind of grasping at straws because Kendall Jenner I think of all the sisters is the
04:33least like scandalous so he was trying to find like one thing to make into like a
04:37little bit of gossip about Kendall Jenner but it was like that's not really an
04:40appropriate thing to ask anyone definitely and some people kind of
04:43there's a little bit backlash with her response because she said I don't think I
04:47have a bisexual or gay bone in my body but I don't know who knows I'm all down
04:51for experience so people were like is sexuality like an experience like a game
04:56like a Disneyland ride you just go on or like what like so people found that to be
05:00problematic as well oh I love that you both are looking at me right now but but
05:08I do want to say that sometimes I do think that like actually sexuality can be
05:13can be an experience and it doesn't always have to be like this serious
05:17identity that we you know like sometimes it is just an exploration I think that
05:23because sexuality exists on a spectrum I think that it's very true that someone
05:27could identify is very heterosexual and still have sexual experiences that kind
05:32of span the gamut of what we think of as traditional heterosexuality I don't
05:35think that she was trying to downplay it mm-hmm I also don't I think that we
05:39should actually leave Kendall Jenner on and let her identify as whatever she
05:42wants to identify as and mind our own business and think about our own sexual
05:46experience yes I'm for that I'm all for the fluidity all right so another week
05:51another week of Cardi B pregnancy rumors speculation except this time TMZ
05:56anyway is confirming that Cardi B may be pregnant so basically sources close to
06:02her came to TMZ saying that she's actually in fact pregnant she's been
06:06pregnant this whole time by the time she performs at Coachella next month she'll
06:09be about seven months and she's expecting a baby this summer now we don't she
06:13hasn't confirmed herself she even did an Instagram live last night where I was
06:17commenting like yeah like she didn't really like she's just said she's been in
06:21the studio that's why she hasn't been posting pictures so she hasn't really
06:24confirmed anything even in the past she has denied it so I'm not really sure
06:28what's going on but according to these sources they say that her plan is have
06:32the baby in the summer and she's still going on tour with Bruno in September
06:35which would mean two months after she has a baby so yeah I mean it sounds like a
06:40crazy work schedule for anyone but it's interesting because I feel like we're
06:43watching her go through this pregnancy speculation in the public eye I think a
06:47lot of women deal with this like do I work up until the pregnancy what do I do but
06:51she's doing it in public in front of millions of people what do you guys
06:54think do you think that that schedule sounds crazy no I think that that's the
06:59life of an entertainer right yeah they they have nannies upon nannies their
07:03nannies have nannies to help take care of their kids because when you have
07:06million dollars millions of dollars on the line like you have to make a choice
07:10about whether or not you're gonna bring your kid with you or you have a nanny you
07:15have childcare I mean when Beyonce was performing rehearsing for the Super Bowl
07:19last year a lot of people's like on the field with her just like watching her
07:23buzz start choreography like I think that women have to make decisions like
07:28this all the time there are women who make a lot less money than Cardi B who
07:32have to make that decision to go right back to work yet sometimes even sooner
07:35than two months maternity leave is obviously a big issue in this country
07:38right now yeah to me it doesn't seem outlandish at all I am very interested in
07:42why Cardi wouldn't just come out and say that she was pregnant I'm curious
07:48about that because I do think that it's true yeah even the live that you were
07:51talking about last night it was from here up yeah so she's I feel like she
07:55has been intentionally wearing clothes that like hides her stomach so I don't
07:58know if she's trying to do like some mysterious Kendall Jenner Kylie well
08:03which one was Kylie Kylie Kylie Jenner you know I did in the past too also it
08:10created a lot of publicity right like everyone in her Instagram stories
08:12I was like are you pregnant are you pregnant are you pregnant like people are
08:14trying to tune in see what she's doing all the time but I totally agree with what you
08:18said and I also think that people are just jealous like if she can do it she
08:21probably has the help to do it probably has grandmother's cousins on yeah so
08:24much of her family to help her I was a lot of Latino households do so like I
08:28don't but I also wonder maybe her silences she has a lot of money on the
08:31line that's the thing that this TMZ thing was pointing out like between
08:34Coachella and this tour with Bruno I think she probably maybe it has to make
08:37sure that like all of her ducks are in a row before she's like okay roll it I'm
08:40pregnant like expensive yes I'm excited to see our Coachella with you
08:47and I feel like that was shade no I am not going to listen if Cardi is maybe
08:55bumping around in that stage you will be watching the whole thing live so it's
08:59fine wow that's so disrespectful all right guys it's time to get lit I feel like
09:04movies have been making such a splash this year and it is only March there's so
09:09many movies even this weekend that I'm so excited about Tomb Raider with Alicia
09:12Vicandar she came into our refinery and Love, Simon starring Nick Robinson this
09:17movie looks so so cute it's a heartfelt coming age story of a 17 year old who
09:22falls in love with his anonymous classmate online so I love this like millennial
09:26Gen Z vibe and the story gets a little more complicated than that let's take a
09:30look my name's Simon I'm just like you except I have one huge-ass secret everyone
09:37deserves a great love story but for 17 year old Simon it's a little more
09:41complicated nobody knows I'm gay love Simon is based on the 2015 best-selling
09:49novel Simon versus the homo sapiens agenda and follows the coming-out story of a
09:53teenage boy living in the suburbs what makes up Simon an interesting movie to see
09:57today is that we've never really had a coming-of-age high school movie with a
10:02gay lead so this would be like if John Hughes as Ferris Bueller met Elio from
10:07Call Me By Your Name you would get love Simon drink way too much ice coffee watch bad
10:1190s movies and hang out at Waffle House dreaming of college and gorging on cards
10:15love Simon got a lot of things right about not only being a high schooler trying
10:20to figure out friends and family and what you want to do with your future but also in
10:26the way that it portrays a really wholesome look at a young gay teen and
10:32the immediate reception has been really warm to that the main conflict is not a
10:37man who's ashamed of being gay but that he's just trying to figure out the next
10:42best step for himself
10:43I just want you to know that I love you
10:46I wouldn't change anything about you
10:48I think that love Simon shows a very specific facet of a gay experience Simon lives in a
10:55white privileged suburb with very liberal parents who are obviously going to be
10:59understanding if he does choose to come out and the fact that Nick Robinson the lead is
11:03actually a straight actor I think is going to launch a conversation about representation
11:09in gay movies the same way that we've been having one about female lead movies
11:14I'm done living in a world where I don't get to be who I am I deserve a great love
11:18story
11:18Love Simon is paving the way for a bunch of upcoming LGBTQ films two of them being the
11:26miseducation of Cameron Post and Boy Erased and those are about two teens being sent to gay conversion camps and
11:35I think that having a mainstream movie like Love Simon
11:39come before these two more intense more serious looks at what it's like to come
11:45out and not so liberal and welcoming families will be really really important in furthering the conversation
11:53sometimes I think I'm destined to care so much about one person it nearly kills me
11:58me too
11:59everyone should see Love Simon
12:00it really is something that teens can go with their friends parents can take their kids kids can take their
12:07grandparents
12:07it's like candy it's great it's fun
12:10disclaimer this is about to get romantic as hell
12:14go see Love Simon which hits theaters today
12:17I'm really excited for this movie I love coming of coming out at coming of age stories
12:21coming out coming of age stories
12:23I think it'll be really cute and exciting and I love Katherine Langford from 13 Reasons Why
12:27yeah this definitely feels in the same vein as like Lady Bird Call Me By Your Name all of these
12:31kind of like teeny
12:32bopper like coming of age stories but in a good way so I think it's great
12:37and I'm also just really excited because Natasha Rothwell who some of you probably will recognize
12:41from Insecure who's also a writer on Insecure is in this movie and I'm just really excited to see her
12:47again
12:47getting some love so cheers to her
12:49yes go ahead
12:50all right love Simon
12:52all right so next in Get Lit
12:54we're talking Bruno Mars
12:55so he's been in headlines this past week
12:57thanks to a viral Twitter moment from last weekend
12:59there's a writer and activist named Saren Sensai
13:04who basically talked in this video about how
13:06she believes Bruno Mars is guilty of cultural appropriation
13:09she says Bruno Mars 100% is a cultural appropriator
13:12he plays up his racial ambiguity
13:13ambiguity across genres he got that Grammy because white people love him
13:17and he's not black the issue is we want our black culture from non-black bodies
13:21so I agreed with her point of that especially coming you know with the Grammys
13:25we know that the Grammys definitely has a race issue it is crazy she also pointed
13:29out that Prince never got a Grammy but Bruno Mars has which is insane
13:33yes well Prince never got a best album Grammy I should clarify that but still
13:38yeah so so I did agree with her on that point I think that he him being you know racially
13:44ambiguous
13:44is to his benefit for sure
13:46but I also don't believe that Bruno Mars is guilty of cultural appropriation
13:50I feel like you know as someone who grew up on this music
13:53he's always talked about his love of Motown doo-wop
13:56you can see videos of Bruno when he was like five years old
13:58impersonating some of these artists
13:59so I feel like you know the definition of cultural appropriation has to do with
14:03whether or not you give respect to the culture you're pulling from
14:05I feel like he's always given that respect
14:08and I think there are more problematic artists like Justin Timberlake or Miley Cyrus
14:12who you can definitely kind of say
14:14all right y'all like y'all are not appropriately pulling from these cultures
14:17but I don't think Bruno is guilty of that what do you guys think?
14:20I definitely think that there are two separate conversations being had
14:23and I think that there is the critique to be had of the larger music industry
14:26and the larger culture that basically says that things that black people do
14:29are only good and like worthy of praise and acknowledgement
14:32when non-black people do them that is absolutely valid
14:35that is absolutely a system that Bruno Mars benefits from
14:39that is an unfortunate consequence of racism and anti-blackness in our country
14:43that is not the same thing as the act of cultural appropriating
14:48which is where you extract from another culture for your own gain or entertainment
14:54while also like distancing yourself from that culture
14:57and I don't think that I can think of anyone else who has gone through the work of like immersing
15:00himself
15:01like in the culture of black music like Bruno Mars has
15:04he produces all of his own music
15:06he continuously collaborates with other artists
15:08as you mentioned he also gives credit to those other artists
15:11and I think that we need to be able to separate those conversations
15:14to be able to say hey Bruno Mars is benefiting from a system that's really messed up
15:18but that also doesn't necessarily mean that Bruno Mars himself is messed up
15:21like what do we want him to do give his Grammys back?
15:23do we want him to not make music so that you know so that someone else can do it
15:29like should he have chosen another career path?
15:31I mean like I think that Bruno Mars we're gonna see so much more of him
15:33I think that he's gonna put so many other artists of color on the map
15:37I mean I think that honestly like even working with Cardi B was like a come up
15:42you know what I mean?
15:42I think that those are things that Bruno Mars can and does do
15:45and I think that we just need to be able to like separate those conversations a little bit
15:48I will say I'm not a Bruno Mars fan
15:52I get like I like his voice
15:54I like that he can dance
15:56I think he's so talented but it never comes together for me
15:59so like there's not a single Bruno Mars song
16:01that I'm like oh yes turn this on this is a bop
16:03like no I love me some Bruno, he puts you like in a little good mood
16:06he's adorable you want to put him in your little pocket
16:09but when he did an interview with Latina magazine
16:11because he's actually a half Puerto Rican and half Filipino
16:13and he did an interview with Latina where he said black people created it all
16:18from reggae, R&B, funk, doo-wop to Motown
16:20so in my world black music means everything
16:22which I thought was an important point
16:23so it's kind of like no matter what kind of music you're really putting out
16:26you could technically be like they're borrowing from black culture
16:29so I have to also say that when you went to the Grammys
16:31and basically so many celebrities that have come through Refinery
16:34like whenever we ask them who do you want to collaborate with
16:37they always say Bruno Mars
16:38that is the number one person they want to collab with
16:40and I think that speaks volumes
16:41yeah I think he's one of those rare artists who really actually does cross between genres
16:45and it's pretty seamless so I'd say props to Bruno Mars
16:48but I definitely think we have bigger issues
16:49if we want to call out people in the music industry
16:51Bruno's probably not the top one on the list
16:53when are y'all going to cancel Justin Timberlake
16:56after the Super Bowl
16:58cancel Justin okay
16:59sorry boo I used to love you boo
17:01seriously
17:02take Miley with you
17:06she's up in Malibu like with her horses and her goats
17:09all right speaking of more controversy
17:11I am a die-hard fan of The Crown
17:13do you guys watch?
17:14yes I do too
17:15I'm a season behind
17:15okay so that's good
17:17great but I liked it
17:18I like the right season
17:19when you have a free Saturday girl
17:20that second season is so good
17:21it's an incredible show
17:22it's one of the most expensive shows to make of all time
17:24but let me tell you something
17:26that gender pay gap is royalty screwed up
17:30Variety reported that the main actress Claire Foy
17:33who plays the queen in the show The Crown
17:36got paid less than her co-star Matt Smith
17:38who plays Prince Philip
17:39for the first two seasons of The Crown
17:41that is it
17:42that is ridiculous
17:43like how?
17:44she's in literally every scene
17:45and they credited this disparity
17:47because he was more famous from the show Doctor Who
17:50I'm sorry I've never seen that show
17:51nor do I care
17:52nobody cared about Philip on that show
17:54they all cared about literally
17:55Queen Elizabeth all the time
17:57yeah
17:58and so the producers now vowed that
18:00no one gets paid more than the queen
18:02but what's kind of sucky about that situation
18:04is that Claire Foy isn't on the next season of The Crown
18:07right
18:07what?
18:08because
18:09ooh
18:09no I'm not getting anything away
18:10so the crown
18:12the crown is obviously following the life of the queen
18:14so she gets older
18:15so they have another actors playing Queen Elizabeth
18:17yeah
18:17and all the actors which is super exciting
18:18I'm super excited for Olivia Coleman
18:20who's going to be playing the queen
18:21but can we give Claire Foy like
18:23can we like back play Claire Foy?
18:26because like that's crazy
18:26cut her a check
18:27yeah
18:28so I mean
18:28what I'm happy about is that
18:30all these things are not coming to light
18:31I feel like before people didn't talk about money
18:33the way they are now
18:34but like
18:35I'm really surprised that in this era of us talking so much about equal pay
18:39that Netflix of all places
18:40who is like very much a big company right now
18:42on a show about a queen
18:45surrounding a woman
18:45like I really thought that they would have been on top of something like that
18:48yeah
18:50awkward
18:50alright
18:51they also need to pay Monique too
18:52Netflix you know
18:54y'all have a lot of things going on
18:56I don't know who is doing the budgeting
18:57but y'all need to get some diversity training in the finance department
19:01because
19:01the way y'all are shaming women and women of color has to stop
19:04yep
19:04but now
19:06speaking of
19:08people who are not getting underpaid
19:11time for the drop
19:12as you all know
19:13the queen Beyonce
19:15and Jay Z
19:17her opening act
19:18I'm going on tour this summer for On The Run 2
19:21yes
19:23oh my god I'm so excited
19:25and literally the stadium tour is going to be the biggest event of the summer
19:29um
19:30the internet went into a frenzy
19:31the pre-sale tickets went on sale on the 14th
19:34which is Wednesday
19:35and like everyone is like
19:36what am I going to do to get these tickets
19:38I'm going to go broke to do it
19:39I'm filing for bankruptcy
19:40I'm not paying rent
19:41I'm selling organs
19:42like whatever needs to be done
19:43I was like mom hey
19:45no we literally all got information
19:46like the whole refinery office
19:48we're talking about it
19:48y'all are tickets
19:49all of us
19:50yeah so you all got tickets
19:51yes
19:52obviously
19:52we'll be there
19:53making sure everyone's in formation
19:55right
19:56unlike when Black Panther came out
19:57not everyone's in formation
19:58I saw the movie Cecily
20:00it was unbelievable
20:01so you know
20:01anyway
20:02but this was obviously just such a huge moment
20:05and what I really related to
20:07is people really kind of like lamenting about like
20:09okay this is what it's like to be a Beyonce fan
20:11she's not going to give you any notice
20:13she could drop new music at any time
20:16she could drop a video at any time
20:17she could announce a tour at any time
20:18so you need to have an emergency Beyonce fund
20:22ready
20:23when you get a whiff that something might be happening
20:25because you always
20:26you have to be there
20:27you know it's going to sell out
20:28you know it's going to be the biggest event of the year
20:30get information or get lost
20:32I'm so excited
20:32I cannot wait for this tour
20:34I definitely think she's going to drop music before
20:35but it's so funny
20:36because literally everyone is referring to this as a Beyonce concert
20:39yeah it is
20:40one of my favorite memes was
20:41one of my favorite memes was like
20:43Beyonce only included Jay Z because she can't leave him at home for long
20:46for five months
20:47but I was like that's probably
20:48true
20:49maybe true
20:50listen I love the first on the run show
20:51it was one of my favorite content
20:52it was a stadium show too
20:53but that was before we knew all of the tea
20:56that Lemonade and 444 let out
20:57so this is going to be very interesting to see how they perform together
21:01I also just love
21:01I think the dynamic is going to be really fun
21:03I love that they're going to like come in and out do stuff together apart
21:05like oh it's just
21:07I'm so excited
21:08the days are
21:08I know
21:09they got to keep going
21:10but I do love that that's the running joke
21:12that like Beyonce fans don't actually like Jay Z anymore
21:16so like it's like all these like reactions
21:17it's hard to forgive and forget
21:18it really is
21:19I mean and then she's going to
21:21she's going to be performing the songs
21:23where she talks about what happened
21:24it's too much
21:25she does sorry
21:26anyway
21:27carpet DM you guys
21:28it is time
21:29I know y'all aren't surprised
21:30I'm talking about my girl Jenny from the block
21:31you know I love J.Lo
21:32and she's on the cover of Harper's Bazaar this month
21:35and this shoot was so
21:36I thought it was so beautiful
21:37because there is a whole metaphor throughout of her
21:40kind of being on top of the world
21:41she's tight roping
21:42she's swinging at the top of the skyline
21:44and it's a metaphor for her being kind of on top of the world right now
21:47the article is a lot about how she doesn't get enough credit for the many things that she's done for
21:51women of color
21:52she's behind the scenes a lot not only as an actress and a performer
21:55but she's also an executive producer three shows
21:57she does her all I have residency
21:59she's also very active in Puerto Rico relief efforts
22:02and on top of all that you know she's still doing world of dancing
22:05she's just all over the place
22:07she has a movie coming out called Second Ass
22:08yes and then she's doing two more movies later this year with female directors
22:11so I was like props for giving Jenny from the block some long deserved credit
22:15she's still looking at
22:16I mean
22:21the interviewer also asked her about the importance of the Me Too movement
22:23and she says
22:24I haven't been abused in the way someone would have
22:26but have I been told by a director to take off my shirt and show my boobs?
22:29yes I have
22:29but did I do it?
22:30no I did not
22:31when I did speak up I was terrified
22:33my heart was beating out of my chest
22:34but I think ultimately the Bronx of me was like nah we're not having it
22:37so that was just such a little JLo quote
22:40I appreciated that she acknowledged like
22:42she knows that this is difficult
22:43but when it happened to her she just had to be like
22:45not having it
22:46of course she also talked about A-Rod
22:48there's been speculation
22:49like are they engaged?
22:50is she ever going to get married again?
22:51she says that she does still believe in marriage
22:54and she believes in love
22:54but she didn't say one way or the other
22:56if they have any marriage plans
22:57they are so going to get married
22:58I mean
22:59they were power coupling it up
23:00so I feel like it's only a matter of time before that happens
23:02at this point it doesn't matter though
23:03like
23:04right
23:05JLo and you're A-Rod
23:06do you have to get married?
23:07like
23:08she likes the production though
23:09she likes the electrical
23:10I would tune in for a live stream
23:12the party
23:12JLo A-Rod wedding
23:13absolutely
23:14I would be there
23:14you would crash that wedding arm
23:16I would absolutely be on the street
23:17outside with my iPhone
23:18like hey I'm here
23:19let me in
23:20but I really love how their family
23:22is like a little cute family
23:23like a pretty bunch of vibes
23:23yeah our little budget family
23:24like I like that a lot
23:25yeah
23:25alright guys time for reset of the week
23:28we haven't done this in a while
23:29reset basically means someone who
23:31messed up a little thing
23:32needs to hit that reset button
23:34needs to hit that button
23:38I'm just gonna say that right now
23:40so the reboot of American Idol came back
23:42I'm not sure if anyone watched it
23:44but 19 year old contestant named Glade
23:46super adorable
23:47walked into his audition
23:48and one of the judges Luke Bryan
23:50was like have you ever kissed a girl and liked it
23:53to which he responded
23:54no like I haven't kissed a girl
23:55because I've never been in a relationship
23:56super cute whatever
23:58Perry then took it upon her to order him to come over to her
24:02and be like kiss me kiss me on the cheek
24:04so he does
24:05and then it's like no no no
24:07you didn't even make a sound kiss me again
24:08so he does again
24:09and then when she does she turns her head
24:11take a look at this clip right here
24:13she turns her head
24:15and like whoa
24:16yeah
24:17unacceptable
24:18I don't know
24:19the other judges like totally egged him on
24:21and it was just kind of like awkward
24:22but even worse
24:23that afterwards he goes well that's the first
24:25and then he has to do his audition
24:27imagine doing your audition after like a huge celebrity like
24:31right
24:31so he does an audition
24:32and then they're like you're not good
24:34you have to believe
24:34Katy Perry goes you were a little rushed
24:36I'm sure he was totally shook
24:38that was his first kiss on national television
24:40first kiss with Katy Perry
24:41didn't even ask for it
24:42with cameras
24:43with studio
24:44like I don't know
24:45I was just like a little concerned
24:47because while it's like ha ha fun and games
24:49like I think if it was a man who was in this position
24:50with a 19 year old girl
24:52and he turned and kissed her
24:53he would be fired
24:54maybe arrested
24:55completely like so what do you guys think about this
24:57is there a double standard in play
24:58first of all the standard in play is that I think it was fake
25:01on stage
25:02I just need to get that off my chest
25:04yeah
25:04I don't think that it was real at all
25:07but
25:07his reaction was a little
25:09I don't know
25:10surprised
25:11I feel like Katy maybe was probably planning for it
25:13but I don't know
25:14but I feel like he definitely
25:15he wasn't in on that
25:16you think that he perfectly fell and looked shocked
25:19as he fell to the ground with his guitar
25:20and didn't damage anything or hurt himself
25:22that's true
25:22that's a good point
25:23all right
25:24that's possible
25:25but you know Cecily's the conspiracy theorist
25:28whatever
25:29hey whatever makes good TV
25:31yeah
25:32but let's say that it wasn't fake
25:34let's just say that it was not fake
25:36I think that this is not
25:37the first time that I've seen like
25:40these moments where like
25:41big white pop star women like want to like
25:44impose their like sexuality on the people
25:46remember when Madonna like took Drake's soul out of his body
25:50yeah
25:50yeah
25:51yeah
25:52and like then this
25:53and it's like guys first of all like
25:55just chill
25:57and like let's also try to like put into practice the things that we're
26:01the conversations that we're having about sexual assault
26:03yeah
26:04because I don't think that it sends a good message
26:06if we are representing like a double standard
26:09and I think that we could have had just as much of a meaningful moment
26:13just as much of a shocking moment
26:15if Katy Perry would have leaned over and been like
26:17do you want to kiss me
26:17yeah
26:18and then had him walk over
26:20and like be very shocked and blushed
26:22it probably would have felt more authentic
26:24and real
26:25and it wouldn't have been as problematic
26:27I'm also just kind of over Katy Perry
26:29me too
26:30me too
26:30me too
26:30me too
26:31me too
26:31me too
26:34yeah
26:35she's not having a very good month right now
26:37I agree
26:37the nun that she was in a legal battle with over her house
26:41she was in a legal battle with this property with this nun
26:44but wait it's actually not funny
26:45it's really sad
26:46the nun was in court about this issue and had a heart attack and died
26:50in court
26:51yes
26:52so now
26:52Katy Perry was there
26:53no but it was about
26:55I think it was about like
26:56no it was about
26:57their property battle because basically she was trying to purchase the land that was formerly a convent
27:02and they were like no
27:03yeah
27:03they were like no because they're like we know your music like we know like you're very you know
27:07they're like you don't really you're not really the whole you know idea of being a nun
27:11and then the nun going through this legal battle passed away of a heart attack while in court
27:15so I don't know if she actually got in court
27:16yeah Katy Perry needs to take a seat
27:17yeah so Katy Perry's having a rough month but I do think the main issue with that clip
27:21I think it was like the aggressiveness of it
27:23and it's really surprising with like all the conversations we're having right now that she wouldn't think to be like
27:27maybe I should ask
27:28or like be a little bit more gentle but I think she's always trying for the shock value and it
27:33never feels very genuine
27:33well she just shocked me
27:35also pass it to the nest
27:35because I didn't know a nun died and I'm not ever at a loss of words but I'm shook
27:40what?
27:41the nun died?
27:42yes
27:42but at least like pass the kids to the next round
27:45if you're gonna do that like let them at least continue you know what I mean
27:48yeah
27:48just thought it was a lot
27:49that poor little conservative boy was not ready for the kid
27:51wait the kid here didn't make it to the next round?
27:53no
27:53no
27:54she was like you were really rushed and like shook
27:56cause he was like yeah
27:57beating all fast
27:59that poor little
27:59bro that's
28:00yeah
28:01Katy Perry is trash
28:02he did an interview after where he was like I'm a conservative boy
28:05like I was raised to believe that like you don't
28:07and like he's I could
28:08that's why I don't think it's fake cause I do feel like he's very like
28:12and now he has to go back home defiled by Katy Perry
28:15he didn't get on the show
28:17yes
28:17it's just like when Jay Z made 444 didn't even get a Grammy
28:20now you've soiled yourself
28:22yep
28:24on that note
28:25have an amazing weekend guys
