00:16My name is Miriam Lumpini and I go by The Witch Doctor, which is my tattoo artist, Alter Ego.
00:27My advice for finding a good tattoo artist is first of all finding someone that you vibe with artistically,
00:33like you feel a connection between the artwork and the artist.
00:38My specialty is to work with colors. I want colors to look very bright on the skin.
00:46I was born in Stockholm, Sweden, but I grew up outside Gothenburg with my single mother on the Swedish countryside.
00:53We had a lot of animals around, a lot of nature, forest.
00:58And I think that's part of my inspiration, just expressing kind of what I come from.
01:04My mom, as a single mother, really empowered me to be myself and do me.
01:12Färg är min superkraft.
01:15That means color is my superpower.
01:19I need to go back to Sweden.
01:35I have followed Miriam's work for a couple of years and it didn't really occur to me that I would
01:41get a tattoo from her.
01:44A lot of my inspiration also comes from different cultures.
01:48I went to a Tibetan Buddhist school called Naropa and I lived in Nepal and India for a period of
01:55time.
01:56During that time I resonated with the Green Tara in Tibetan Buddhism and she's the emanation of perfected compassion.
02:04And I am right handed.
02:05So I wanted to have her brought on my right arm so that when I bring actions into the world
02:10that I'm bringing the energy of compassion into all of my actions.
02:25With my style I like to work with a lot of contrast and depth.
02:28Sometimes I use freehand, sometimes I use stencils, sometimes I use smooth shadings, rough shadings, textures.
02:37Once that process is done, we sit down and I pour up the ink and then we go.
03:09I think pain is a process that I have picked up.
03:12It's something that I don't necessarily seek out, but when it has a purpose, it really can transform us.
03:47When we're done, we, like, hug each other. Sometimes they cry, like, you know, when I put the last white
03:53details, that's usually the most painful part. They be like, and then it's like, we did it. And then we
03:59dance around or, you know, like, celebrate that we did it.
04:09I guess my favorite part is how magical that she looked and that Miriam was able to create that perfectly.
