00:09Alright, let's go. Come, come. I live in the West Village in New York City, and I pay $2,500
00:14a month.
00:15For all of you that think that that is expensive, it is. You're correct.
00:19But I live in this awesome city with all of this awesome culture. I'm willing to pay the price.
00:27When I first saw this place, it was honestly covered wall-to-wall in this canary yellow.
00:34Colors like that in a small space can really close up a space.
00:37The first thing I asked for was to paint all of the walls just stark white.
00:42They asked, like, oh, are you sure you don't want cream? Like, no.
00:45I like things to be clean and open, but they don't necessarily have to be uniform.
00:49Even though everything's white, like, there's still just a little pop of something.
00:52This is my most sacred space in the whole apartment.
00:55I actually do use this kitchen. I love to cook.
00:57My grandmother is from Spain, and she's actually the one that raised me.
01:00So when I grew up, like, the kitchen is where we gathered.
01:04Like, I did my homework on the counter. We ate together every night.
01:07I have a nice little cooking triangle here.
01:10Everything is, like, very nice and compact.
01:13I have this really old bubble gum dispenser that used to be in our house.
01:17It still works.
01:18This is from my grandmother's collection.
01:21She always had, like, different, like, serving ware for, like, whatever mood she was in.
01:25I like to give these as gifts to people who are just getting married or just moving into a new
01:30space.
01:31And so if you know me and you've received salad serving things, that's why.
01:37Because I love you.
01:38I have these ferns.
01:39The Pacific Northwest in me really, really wanted to keep these ferns in New York City alive.
01:44There is fresh green in there, but there's also this lot of dead.
01:46So I really just beg you, Internet, please help me keep my plants alive.

01:53You know, the bathroom.
01:55It's pretty big as far as New York standards go.
01:58I am executive producer for Beauty Videos at Refinery29, so with that comes a lot of product.
02:04I have sort of organized this in terms of things that I know that I use all the time,
02:11but also things that I forget that I have because that's the thing about having a lot of stuff.
02:16You forget that you have it.
02:16I have a tub, though, y'all.
02:18I have a freaking tub.
02:20This is my living room area.
02:23I really like how this room is separate from my bedroom so that when I have guests over,
02:30we can all kind of gather in here.
02:31Because I had this long wall here, I was able to put in an extra-long couch,
02:35which is awesome because I have more seating.
02:37This is from All Modern.
02:38So then I found this extra-long coffee table that matches and it flows really nicely with the space.
02:43For all of you mid-century mod furniture buffs, this is an actual Lane furniture piece.
02:48And then my dresser is from All Modern as well.
02:50This is sort of the place where all the artifacts of my life are housed.
02:55These are like little things that I found in my grandma's side table.
02:59If anybody knows what these are, please comment below because I asked somebody at a vintage shop
03:03and they didn't know.
03:04This is like a tiny little section for where I could keep my books.
03:09There are many more in my closet.
03:10Some may call me crazy, but I did move from Seattle to New York with all of my magazines, which
03:18is nuts.
03:20Coming in to the bedroom area, I'm really fortunate in that I get all this natural light because that affects
03:26me.
03:26I know that I love to wake up with the sun.
03:29Let me turn your attention this way.
03:31If there were a fire in here, I would like grab this area and run.
03:35So my grandfather passed away before I was born.
03:38He was a very, very good artist.
03:40He really loved to paint in the style of Norman Rockwell.
03:44This is my favorite piece.
03:46I also kind of die over the fact that she has this ankle bracelet on.
03:51How do you even do that with like acrylic paint in monochromatic?
03:55I love to just think about like what this woman must have heard on the other end of that phone.
04:00And then this is a picture of my grandma and me.
04:03Let us not forget my master's degree.
04:06I'm very proud of this.
04:07I used to be an architect when I lived in Seattle before moving to New York.
04:11I used to design schools, K through 12.
04:14I did that for six years before I switched, left the profession, went to go work at Nordstrom,
04:20worked in video there, and then now I live in New York and I couldn't be happier.
04:24This is all great and everything, but truly I think what you came here for is to take a peek
04:28at the closet.

04:31All right, here we go.
04:34I need a little bit more fanfare.
04:37You can kind of come in a little bit.
04:39It's pretty spacious as far as New York is concerned.
04:42If you look around, there's like shoes up here, shoes in the back.
04:46I can have less clothes probably, but the shoes have got to stay.
04:49These are my favorite pair of shoes that I own, but they're like so delicate and they do not go
04:53outside.
04:54Oh my God, you guys aren't even ready.
04:56You guys aren't ready for this.
04:57Purple python heels.
04:59Like, do you die?
05:00These were originally $800 and I got them for $130.
05:06It's a pretty good deal.
05:09So, my most favorite dress is this dress from my grandma.
05:12This is her house dress.
05:14I wear something of my grandmother's almost every day.
05:16Today I'm wearing her earrings.
05:17Just having a little bit of a reminder of her every day really just helps and is lovely, I think.
05:23I moved from Seattle to New York about two and a half years ago.
05:26I looked for a sublease in Manhattan and found the place next door to this place.
05:31I started separating the recycling of all my neighbors and the superintendent came out.
05:35And then he really liked my recycling and offered me a place next door.
05:40Which is here.
05:40My superintendent really loves to play the drums.
05:43It's just like...
05:46Also, there is a neighbor that has a bird that sounds like a child crying.
05:51These are like New York things.
05:53Something that I want in my next apartment.
05:55Space and maybe a door that would separate my bedroom and my living room.
06:00Is that really too much to ask?
06:02A door, peeps.
06:03Things like laundry and a dishwasher would be really cool.
06:07But I feel like I left that on the west coast and like those things are unicorns here.
06:11I am just so happy that I was able to find this apartment.
06:15It's just a nice quaint neighborhood full of coffee shops.
06:19I can walk to the coffee shop.
06:20I can walk to the grocery store.
06:21The sun sets on this side.
06:23So it's awesome.
06:24Like it really...
06:25There's really nothing more I could ask for.
