00:00Hey guys, I'm Serena Kerrigan the Queen of Confidence and welcome to my sweet digs
00:06Come inside, but before you come in here. This is a positive space
00:09Okay, so you cannot speak badly by yourself because you look beautiful. Come on in
00:14I'm Serena Kerrigan. I'm a video producer and host at refinery 29
00:18And you can also see me all over social media as the queen of confidence
00:22Where I inspire my followers to stop caring what people think because life is too short to not love yourself
00:28Okay, I live in a two-bedroom two-bathroom apartment on the Lower East Side
00:32My roommate Sarvi and I have known each other since middle school and then she came to my quinceanera in
00:36high school
00:37And we went to Duke together. So we're best friends. We've been friends for a very long time
00:41I really do love this apartment
00:43I feel incredibly privileged and lucky to live here even though I had to survive my mom being like, where
00:48are you?
00:48Come home now
00:49I picked the opposite of part of town
00:51So my mom's on the Upper West Side and I picked the Lower East Side. So it's like could I
00:55got any farther?
00:56She was like Serena. Why did you pick such a far place away from me? And I'm like
01:01My mom is from Argentina and that was my best job doing her accent
01:04So our rent is a little over $5,000 a month, which is absurd
01:09Although I do think that this apartment is incredibly expensive
01:13I've been saving up for two years and because this is my big first city apartment
01:18Which is super exciting for me because I'm a born and bred New Yorker. I think it's worth it
01:22It's still really expensive. But the caveat is this it's two-bedroom, two-bathroom
01:29I have my own bathroom. What?
01:31It's brand new. There's a doorman, gym, library spaces, two decks, and like a
01:37360-degree view of the city
01:39I do want to say that I went on a date with someone who lives in this building and I
01:44suggest highly to not do that
01:47That's it. So this is Sarvi's room. I love Sarvi so much as my roommate because we're both really clean
01:53We're both actually always pretty much in a good mood. We're both very positive people. This is a positive space
01:58Oh, there's a roommate. Oh, there's a roommate
02:03But also because we support one another a lot and we have real conversations about our relationships and our careers
02:09And we really listen to each other and actually can't stop talking
02:12Sarvi pays a little more than me and rent because she has her bathroom inside her room
02:16And I would say the number one benefit of that is not having to do the like
02:22Naked hop from the bathroom to your bedroom, but I don't mind
02:26Call me a bunny
02:28So I feel like one of the major key differences between our room is that my room is filled with
02:32romance novels like how to find mr
02:34Right and Sarvi's books are complete investment banker fundamentals of corporate valuation
02:41She's very smart
02:42And I was just looking on her bedside table and look what I found the invitation to my 25th birthday
02:48party
02:48It shows you that my obsession with her is mutual the amazing thing about me and Sarvi's just we're best
02:53friends and
02:54Being roommates has only really brought us closer and like I just love her so much. I mean
03:01Maybe it's because she's a Capricorn and I'm an Aries. I don't know. This is my room. I
03:06Really wanted to make sure that my room reflected me and my space and it was just like a sanctuary
03:12for me
03:13I know nothing about interior design
03:15Except that I knew that I wanted my room to be chic pink cozy and cute fit for a queen
03:22You might say I partnered up with this amazing company called home polish that gives you pairs you up with
03:27the designer
03:27And they come and see the space and they tell you what to buy
03:31Amazing shout out to Tanisha. Love you girl, and I love love love love my room
03:37I light some candles i've actually gotten back into reading not memes books
03:42I have three photos on my dresser one is of my parents when they were together and they got divorced
03:48when I was two
03:49So this is like a rare photo, but it's really see and then one of me my Nana
03:53And then one of me and my dog George who I grew up with and I love
03:58My favorite favorite favorite piece of my room is this lamp
04:01My dad gave it to me when I went to college and it's actually his lamp from when he was
04:0611 years old
04:06And he was sent to boarding school in england when I think about it
04:10I think about perseverance I think about how
04:12It must have been really scary for my dad to go to a completely new country
04:17Away from his parents, you know at boarding school 11 years old
04:20So when I look at it and think wow my dad was able to get through that and be the
04:24wonderful person he is
04:26Then I can be too something that was really important for me that I invested a lot of money in
04:31was beautiful big mirrors
04:33Something that I think is major major major and building up your confidence is literally saying positive affirmations to your
04:39mirror
04:39The mirror is from cb2. I highly recommend. I think it has like magical powers some of the mantras I
04:43say are
04:45You're worthy. You're hilarious
04:48You deserve everything you want in this world
04:51I think I'm gonna make myself cry. Do you have a tissue?
04:57Let me take you to the bathroom
04:58When we were looking for apartments like I was like there's no way we're gonna not share a bathroom
05:03That's crazy and Saurvie was pretty adamant about having your own bathroom and now I see why
05:08First of all, I can't even fit all the beauty products in my bathroom. I can't even imagine sharing with
05:13her
05:13I got this shelving unit from Target because I needed more space. I added some shelves from Amazon as well
05:19This is what I call good design
05:28Having my own bathroom is dope also a bathtub like I didn't take a bath since like 2013 like I
05:33was ready
05:34I was like
05:36And here's the living room and kitchen all in one the kitchen what a place
05:43Can't say I've used it a lot. I've been really active about trying to microwave more, you know
05:48Not order in but at least have things to microwave
05:55That's not a value that was taught to me growing up my parents are workaholics they're about their art
06:00They're about what they produce and make and they're creators and they're just not creators in the kitchen
06:05They express their creativity through
06:07Their work and that was what was ingrained in me. So I'm not embarrassed to say that I don't cook
06:12Okay, if you open my fridge
06:15You will see that you will never be thirsty. Welcome to SFK's bodega. What would you like?
06:21Would you like a protein shake a green juice a collagen water flavored water seltzer water?
06:25Oh
06:28Anything you want I will quench that thirst
06:37So should we see the rest of the apartment a lot of the furniture in our living room is actually
06:42from sarvi's apartment from college
06:44So it's great. I mean our design style was what do we have weirdly our couch
06:50It fit perfectly this is where couch from our apartment in europe it literally fit perfectly into this space like
06:56huh hallelujah
06:57I think it's kind of this like cozy modern chic style a lot of pink accents with the marble with
07:03the white
07:05I'm not an interior designer
07:07I think one of the most expensive things I sported on this apartment was the tv
07:10We have a really nice small dining room table, which isn't actually where we dine
07:13It's where I get my glam squad
07:15Baby
07:17Literally, we'd never eat that table. It's literally for glam
07:22And the mirrors I think the mirrors were really important
07:25Having a good mirror is epic and it started the SFK mirror challenge
07:30No one can leave this apartment without doing an SFK mirror challenge which really is simply this
07:35This is the SFK mirror challenge
07:40You just witnessed what I do every time I wear a fire outfit
07:44I walk I strut
07:47And I pose
07:48And you're lucky that you're not in here because I would make you do it with me. I love this
07:52apartment
07:52I love my roommate. I love my mirror love my lamp
07:56Love myself. So i'm happy
