00:05Today we're talking all about contouring.
00:07Contouring is something that is having more than just a moment.
00:10You see it on the red carpet, but you can also see it on your favorite influencers on
00:13Instagram.
00:14And it's something that you can do that suits your mood as well.
00:18You can either go super duper subtle or Kim K it up and do it really intense.
00:22But either way you go, something that's really important is choosing the right contour shade
00:26for your skin tone.
00:27So today I have three other R290s with me, and we're going to pick the right shades
00:31for them.
00:31In order to get the best colors for my friends, I consulted makeup artist Andre Sarmiento, who
00:36gave me a few tricks on choosing the right contour colors.
00:38Let's get started.
00:39First up we have Serena, who has lighter, fairer skin, and it's more on the dry side.
00:43So I'm here with my friend Serena.
00:45Tell me, do you contour?
00:46Do I contour, honey?
00:48I love contour.
00:49You can call me Kim Kardashian West.
00:51It's like boom, boom.
00:53Am I doing it right?
00:53You make a three, yeah?
00:54Right, you make a three.
00:55Or like a little butt.
00:56Oh, even better.
00:57So actual contouring is really easy, but picking the shade is kind of the hard part.
01:01For fair skin, it can be a little tricky because generally you want to lean towards the gray
01:05side.
01:06But I know that can be a little bit overwhelming, so on top of your gray contour, you would do
01:10a peachier blush to kind of bring out that color.
01:13So I think I have the perfect palette for you actually.

01:16And it is Nyx's Three Steps to Sculpt.
01:20Ooh.
01:20So you can see that the deepest shade is a little bit of a gray, and this one has a
01:25grayish
01:26cast as well.
01:27But that's okay because this highlight is nice and peachy and it'll really make your cheekbone
01:31pop.
01:32Three steps.
01:32How hard could it be, right?
01:33Do you have a brush?
01:34I sure do.
01:36I'm going to start with the brown.
01:37The darkest color.
01:38Yep.
01:39The three, right?
01:40Yep.
01:41Make a three.
01:41Honestly, my favorite number.
01:44That would go on the cheekbones, like the apples of your cheeks.

01:51I mean, look at that.

02:03I feel like you made it really simple for me to contour my face.
02:06So do you feel like these colors fit you more than other contour colors that you've tried
02:09before?
02:10Definitely.
02:10Honestly, I think before I was using warmer tones, not gray.
02:15So I kind of looked a little crazy and it just like didn't really match my skin tone.
02:20And even better, you can get this at the drugstore.

02:34Next up, we have Larisse who has a medium skin tone but gets a little bit oily on her

02:38Tell us about how you find like the right shades for you.
02:41In the past, I've definitely gone like too light.
02:44We found this Maybelline Master Contour.
02:48It has a contour, a blush, and a highlight.
02:51And it's perfect because it breaks up that harsh contour line.
02:55I got my brushes.

02:58So I'm going to start with the darker color.
03:02Next up, I'm going to try the blush.

03:06I'm going to go into the highlight.

03:16That's my favorite type of fire.

03:34Last up, we have Anissa who has a deep skin tone and also has oily and acne prone skin.
03:39So I'm here with Anissa.
03:40Anissa, tell us about contouring.
03:42Do you do it?
03:42I want to know how to contour.
03:44Okay.
03:45But never have I ever.
03:45It just seems like very daunting.
03:47So when you're picking a contour shade for deeper skin tones like ours, you have to make
03:51sure that you stay away from the gray.
03:53Like fair skin tones, they use gray.
03:56We don't.
03:56I think that what's best is picking out a richer shade.
04:00Like you want to go for like the chocolate browns, almost even black so that you can bring
04:04out that, you know, accentuate the cheekbones and whatnot.
04:07You want to look sculpted.
04:08Yes.
04:09I think I have the perfect contour kit for you.

04:12This is from CoverGirl.
04:14This is their True Glynd contour palette.
04:17You can get this at any drugstore and it has all the steps that you need.
04:22Anissa, you ready?
04:23I'm ready.
04:23All right, let's do it.
04:24So I'm going to start with the contour color, the deepest color and make a three slash a
04:29but on my face.
04:30Is it happening?
04:34So what you're going to do next is go underneath the line, your cheekbone line, with this highlight
04:40shade.
04:40Okay.
04:41And that will really make that line pop.
04:45I don't know why I'm making this face.
04:47I mean, you could.
04:49That does help.
04:51Try to sculpt out those cheekbones.
04:55And to top it off, you can just add a little touch of highlighter to the highest planes

05:34with a deeper skin tone.
05:36And everyone is different, but I think the thing that remains the same is that it's all
05:40about trial and error.
