00:07Hey guys, it's me Anne, and this is Beauty With Me.
00:11Today may be the last day that you see me with pink hair.
00:17Before we get started though, please hit subscribe down below,
00:20little red button down there, hang out, become part of the family.
00:24So I love my pink hair. I've had it since January,
00:26so it's been a few months now,
00:28and purple has definitely been on my list.
00:31I am transitioning my hair to lilac today.
00:34I've been gathering some celebrity images,
00:35examples of things that I would want my lilac hair to look like.
00:39So Billie Eilish is on there, Jordan Dunn's there, Nicole Richie.
00:43I'm going to bring this little portfolio of photos to my hair color, Madison,
00:47and we're going to mix the perfect color for me,
00:49and you guys are going to see the entire process.
00:52Stay tuned. The next time you see me, I will have purple hair.
00:57I'm back! And as you can see, I've gone purple.
01:01When I got my hair dyed pink, I asked you guys what color I should do,
01:04and an overwhelming number of you said lilac, lavender, purple, like a lot.
01:10So I went over to the salon, and before we could even start mixing the color,
01:13we had to deal with all of my new growth.
01:15So I'm here with Madison here at Spoken Wheel.
01:18We have been hanging out for the past six months doing my touch-up,
01:22so we've been talking about going lilac for a really long time, right?
01:25Since almost the beginning.
01:27Since, like, January.
01:28Alright, so before we kind of sit down and look at inspiration pictures,
01:32we need to get your roots touched up, so let's get started.
01:35I've been getting my hair touched up every four to six weeks.
01:38This time I pushed it.
01:40I was very close to the seven-week mark, but we still made it work.
01:43Madison bleached my roots with the help of her lovely assistant, Kat,
01:47and we sat tight there while it was doing its magic.
01:50So right after she bleached my hair, Madison brought me over to the shampoo bowl.
01:54She rinsed out all the bleach, which felt amazing, and moved on to DDL.
02:00So DDL is a chemical.
02:02It stands for Direct Dye Lifter, and what it does essentially is strip out all of the pink pigment in
02:08my hair
02:09so that it could make room for all the purple pigment that's going to go into my hair.
02:12Once that was rinsed out, Madison glossed my hair twice,
02:16just to get it to a more neutral color palette before going in with the first base color,
02:22which was the purple kind of grayish color that laid down the base for my color.
02:27Then came the fun part, the mixing.
02:30I wanted a kind of cooler purple tone for my hair, so I brought in a couple of photos.
02:35I wanted something that fell in between the Billie Eilish color, the Jordan Dunn color,
02:39and the Nicole Richie color.
02:40We mixed it all up together, and voila, I had my color.
02:44So after putting in my base color and washing it out, she rough dried my hair just to get it
02:49a little bit
02:49on the drier side before Kat and Madison painted the mixture we created all over my hair.
02:56I was wondering if you have any tips in terms of working with your colorist on transitioning your hair
03:00on a, you know, semi-regular basis.
03:03When you're transitioning from one color to the next, you want to start with kind of the same color palette.
03:08So you want to do something that's in the pinks and the purples before you move on to the greens
03:12and the blues.
03:12When you do something as strong as a blue or green, they have more longevity and they stay in the
03:17hair a little bit longer.
03:18So that means when they fade, like these blues will fade to more of sea foam and greens.
03:23What's the color that you've noticed fades the fastest?
03:25Anything that's going to be a pastel, pinks and purples, anything those pastels are going to fade super quick.
03:31Sat there for about 20 to 30 minutes while it was like infusing into my hair, headed over to the
03:38shampoo bowl,
03:39washed it all out, and I had purple hair.
03:47That was pretty much the entire process. It took like five hours.
03:52If you have creative hair color like this, you come to terms with the fact that it's going to take
03:55a long time.
03:56It's going to take a lot of time out of your life.
03:57Alright, are you ready?
03:58Yes.
04:00I love it!
04:02Ah! The first color change in the books.
04:05I've had my hair bleached for a little over six months now,
04:09and even though I do think my hair is in a relatively healthy place,
04:13it's of course drier than it was when I had not dyed it.
04:15And I wanted to ask Madison, what are some extra things I can be doing to make sure that my
04:20hair is really healthy?
04:21Because I'm already doing everything that you said to do, like not putting it up in a ponytail,
04:25masking my hair, avoiding washing it too much,
04:29but I still feel like I'm scared that I'll get to a place where I'm going to not be able
04:33to color it anymore.
04:34We're never going to let your hair get to that place.
04:36You can have platinum hair and it be seemingly healthy and long.
04:41Things that you can do at home, a silk pillow is really great, nothing that's like a tough texture.
04:46It doesn't tug on it, so it's not going to add into any type of breakage.
04:50You don't want to use any type of heavy, dense type of brush, so like a wet brush or a
04:55comb is really great.
04:56When you blow dry your hair at home, make sure you rough dry.
04:59You want to get like 75-80% of the moisture out, because if you put soaking wet hair in
05:03a brush and then heat right on it,
05:05it's too much heat hitting one area for too long, so you want to get most of the moisture out,
05:09and then go in with your styling brush.
05:11When you use any type of heat styling, whether it's a curling iron, flat iron,
05:15you don't need to be on the highest heat. Your hair is already dry, so use like the lowest setting.
05:19Really? So what about like numbers-wise?
05:23I think it's usually around like 280, if you have a number.
05:27Okay, I'm doing like 400 right now.
05:29You don't really need, no, you don't need 400.
05:30What about like product?
05:32We kind of discussed this a little bit earlier, you want to stay away from masking every single time.
05:37Which is what I have been doing.
05:39Yes.
05:39You don't need to add that much protein into your hair. Your hair will only hold on to so much,
05:44so if you over-protein, it's kind of like uncooked spaghetti, your hair is just going to snap.
05:48Every other time, you kind of want to add a mask.
05:51Every other wash?
05:52Yeah.
05:52Okay, cool. Thank you so much.
05:54All right, it was good seeing you.
05:55So those are the things that I have to keep doing.
05:57I'm excited to keep up the lilac at least for a couple months before I get bored of it and
06:03dream something new.
