00:00Big time midsummer heat will be sizzling across the plains this weekend.
00:05Some areas have been especially hot in the Texas Panhandle lately,
00:09but the heat's also building north through the weekend into parts of Wyoming and the Dakotas.
00:14Even sections of Minnesota will be sweating it out with the core of the heat migrating north,
00:19expanding across the northern plains.
00:20We're going to see widespread highs between 95 and up to 105 degrees in some of these areas,
00:25and certainly there will be the risk of heat-related illnesses.
00:28When we come to some record-challenging highs on Saturday, it will still be hot in parts of Texas.
00:34Borgia, Texas, 103, not too far from the record high, but look at Helena, Montana, 102 degrees.
00:39That would break the daily record high.
00:41Billings, Montana, 103, breaking the daily record as well.
00:45And it's not just Saturday.
00:46Sunday we have more record highs really across the plains and west,
00:50almost to the front range of the Rockies.
00:53Denver, Casper, Billings, Amarillo, Texas, and Rapid City, all challenging record highs.
00:58Around the northeastern periphery of this, we're going to begin to see severe thunderstorms erupt early next week.
