00:00Hey guys, really quick video for our Wheels in Japan playlist. Have a look at these cars.
00:05What is the same? What is the same about all of these cars?
00:11Yes, they're all reversed into their parking spaces, aren't they?
00:16So it's not always the case in Japan, but probably 99% of the time it is.
00:21If you see cars parked in Japan, 99% of the time they're reversed into their spot.
00:27Which actually makes a lot of sense, purely from a safety point of view.
00:31When you're arriving at your spot to park, you have a very good awareness of what's going on around you,
00:37where the cars are and who's behind you and in front of you and so on before you try and
00:40park.
00:41So when you reverse into your spot, it's fairly safe.
00:45However, if you go front into your spot and then reverse out when you leave,
00:49a car could well come along behind you from one side or the other.
00:53and you could collide with it if you weren't really, really careful.
00:57So it seems that there is quite an element of safety to this.
01:03If you're reversed into your spot, when you come to leave, you'll be able to see what's coming.
01:07It'll be much safer.
01:09If you know what I mean.
01:13Anyway, that's what they do.
01:15More videos, coming soon.
