00:04because that's usually where we see these things.
00:07However, we do see them other places as well.
00:09So these are emblems, these are mon or kamon, which would be a family crest.
00:16And there are a basic range of about 3,000 to 5,000 of them.
00:22However, with variations, up to 40,000 of them.
00:27So this is a common one.
00:28This is Mitsu do Moe and it's Hidari.
00:34So it's the left turning version.
00:37So you see these on shrines and temples.
00:39Sometimes that swirl actually goes the other way and then it's a Migi.
00:45So that's the Hidari version.
00:47This one's also a religious one.
00:50This is Konkyo Kyo and it's a Shinto one.
00:55So it's a Shinto movement, like a subset, subgroup of the Shinto religion.
01:04Some Shinto followers use that mon.
01:08So the ones we like more are the family ones.
01:11And you see them in old shops sometimes.
01:13Here's a good example.
01:15So this one's Maruni Katabami, which is actually a really popular one with samurai families.
01:21So quite often you'll see swords.
01:24If they're traditional, if they're legitimate swords you'll see in museums and things, we'll have that one.
01:29Because that's a common one.
01:31Lots of samurai families use that one.
01:35So this is actually just in a little shop.
01:38And they've got all the mons there for people to pick, get their family one and put it on whatever
01:44they want to put it on.
01:46So they're still popular.
01:48You can get key rings and all sorts of things.
01:51So people quite often have them hanging off their bags and things like that.
01:56If they know what their crest is, not everybody knows what their crest is.
02:00But those who do, some people are into it.
02:04So these are stickers they can put on their phones or they've got key rings there as well.
02:12There's some key rings.
02:15And at the top they've got some phone cases with mons on them.
02:23Pretty cool, isn't it?
02:26Be cool to have one of those.
02:27A samurai version.
