00:00Hey guys, I'm here for a Myths About Japan playlist.
00:03One of our patrons sent us a link to this and asked if we'd heard anything about it.
00:07So yes, we have. We've seen it on the news.
00:10So let's check out what the clickbaiters and attention seekers have been writing.
00:14Massive fire erupts just 500 metres from Japan's sacred shrine.
00:18Fire tears through Isaiya's moon shopping centre sending flames towards a neighbouring shrine.
00:24Sending flames towards a neighbouring shrine.
00:27Just keep that in mind when we show you something else in a moment that has stood there for over
00:31a thousand years.
00:33What's happened recently is the clickbaiters and attention seekers have realised that anything to do with fire and Japanese temples
00:40and shrines gets thousands and thousands of views.
00:43And all the bigots and Islamophobes and all the other crazies start leaving their comments and blaming a certain segment
00:52of foreigners for setting these fires.
00:55So they're trying to extend that drama and nonsense to this fire which is actually in a shopping centre and
01:04was actually under control within about four and a half hours.
01:08It's still burning a little bit but it's under control.
01:10They're just containing it in a shopping centre.
01:12Let's just have a look at where the shopping centre is.
01:14So if you look at the top of the map there you'll see a train station.
01:19That's where the shopping centre is.
01:21And if you look right at the bottom of the map you'll see where the shrine is, the main shrine
01:26is.
01:26And you'll see that it's 3.8 kilometres from the main shrine to where the fire is.
01:34So keep that in mind.
01:36Remember that comment, that clickbait about flames licking towards the shrine or whatever it said.
01:43So the nearest shrine to there is one of the outer shrines of the East Ejingu.
01:50One of the outer shrines.
01:52And that's 622 metres away from where the fire is.
01:56Which that's what it looks like.
01:58So the fire's on the right there.
02:00The shrine's on the left.
02:01There's no flames licking towards any shrines.
02:06And of course the clickbait worked.
02:08We looked at the comments underneath the posts and the same crowd that were commenting on the previous clickbait.
02:15Commenting on these.
02:16Saying that it was all a conspiracy by a certain segment of the foreign population in Japan to burn down
02:24Japanese shrines and temples.
02:25Because they disagree with them on religious grounds.
02:29Which is drawing a pretty long bow isn't it?
02:31Suggesting that somebody set fire to that shopping centre over there in order to burn down the shrine over there.
02:37Makes absolutely no sense.
02:38Incidentally that video we made about this previously where we encouraged people to give us links to any evidence or
02:45reports of anybody being arrested for purposefully burning down the shrines.
02:50Any foreigners being arrested for doing that.
02:52Nobody's posted any links at all.
02:54Not one.
02:54Just claims.
02:56Just claims.
02:57Unfounded claims.
02:58More videos.
02:59Coming soon.
