11 September - National Weather Forecast presented by Alex Deakin.
Transcript
00:00Hello. Further drops appearing in puddles. More showers to come on Friday and Saturday.
00:06Low pressure continues to dominate our weather. You can see the low here. The winds swirling around it.
00:12Just to the northwest of Scotland, we've seen persistent rain and very gusty winds over the Highlands and the Western Isles today.
00:19They will continue overnight, although the winds will ease down a touch.
00:22The winds will ease a little elsewhere and the showers will fade away as well.
00:25Certainly for much of the Midlands and eastern England, many places becoming dry for Friday morning.
00:31But in the west, we'll keep some showers chugging in from the sea.
00:34Temperatures, as we get those clearer skies, may dip down into single figures in a few places.
00:39But we should start Friday again with some sunshine over the Midlands, much of eastern England.
00:44But further west, well, there'll be some sunshine, but there will already be showers moving in.
00:48And then the showers simply become more widespread again, really from late to mid-morning onwards over the Midlands and eastern England.
00:55Always more frequent further west.
00:57Not quite so grey and wet across northwest Scotland through Friday compared to Thursday.
01:03But it'll still be quite blustery.
01:05In fact, everywhere you'll notice those gusty winds yet again.
01:08When the sun's out, though, and it will be out quite a bit between the showers,
01:12temperatures getting up to round about average, mid to high teens.
01:16But it will feel cooler than that because of the breeze.
01:19And certainly those temperatures will drop when the showers come along.
01:23The showers will be heavy at times.
01:24Some rumbles of thunder again, likely.
01:27And still plenty of them around on Friday evening.
01:29So if you're heading out on the roads, expect quite a lot of spray, quite a lot of surface water.
01:33One minute, it's fine.
01:34Next minute, you're caught in a downpour.
01:36And the showers will continue as we go through the night as well.
01:39If anything, we'll see a band of heavier showers working across northern England and Scotland.
01:44Again, temperatures may dip down to single figures.
01:46But most staying up at 10 or 11 Celsius as we start the weekend.
01:50Saturday will again be a mix of sunshine and showers.
01:53Perhaps starting a bit wetter in the far northeast of Scotland and the southeast of England.
01:58Rain should clear.
01:59And then we're left with this kind of spotty looking map as the showers form once more for Saturday afternoon.
02:05Again, there will be some sunshine between the showers.
02:08It's not going to rain all day.
02:10There's enough of a breeze to move those showers through.
02:13And again, temperatures around or a touch below average for the time of year.
02:16And again, feeling fresh when the showers come along.
02:19So it showers again for the next couple of days.
02:22But out in the Atlantic, something a bit livelier is brewing.
02:24Keeping our eyes on this area of low pressure.
02:27Intensifying as it moves towards the Republic of Ireland during Saturday.
02:31And into Sunday, then heads towards the UK.
02:34This tangle of weather fronts will spread a band of pretty heavy rain in.
02:38That could cause some issues.
02:40And then the winds strengthen later.
02:41And we've issued a Met Office yellow warning for those winds for western parts of Wales,
02:47southern parts of England and northwest England as well.
02:50Those gusts of wind could cause a few issues later on Sunday.
02:54For more details on that weather warning, you can watch Honours' full weekend forecast on our YouTube channel.
03:00Of course, those warnings in much more detail on our app and on our website.
03:04See you later.
