00:00
We have some pretty unsettled weather to come through the next few days.
00:04
On Sunday, a heavy band of rain, and then on Monday, Storm Floris is going to hit.
00:09
But for the time being, there's actually a ridge of high pressure building,
00:12
so things aren't too unsettled at the moment.
00:15
Then that band of rain that I mentioned before comes through on Sunday,
00:19
so that's going to bring some heavy, perhaps even thundery rain for a time.
00:22
Before Storm Floris arrives, it brings some unseasably windy weather,
00:26
especially across northern parts.
00:28
I'll have a bit more about that in a second.
00:30
Back to this afternoon, and it's not totally dry, no, not at all.
00:33
There are a fair few showers around, perhaps western parts avoiding the showers on the whole,
00:39
but one or two perhaps possible here.
00:41
Further east across central, perhaps eastern parts,
00:44
a greater chance of catching some of those showers,
00:46
and there could be some blustery winds mixed in with them as well.
00:49
The showers don't look quite as intense or as thundery as the ones that we saw through Thursday,
00:53
but nonetheless, the odd heavy burst still possible.
00:56
Temperatures are going to be a little bit lower as well compared to some recent days.
00:59
We're still looking at highs just about getting into the low 20s.
01:02
Towards the south, even some parts of Scotland could just about scrape into the low 20s.
01:06
So if you do catch any bright or sunny spells and away from the more blustery winds,
01:11
it's not going to feel too bad.
01:12
Pretty warm, but yes, slightly fresher feel than of late.
01:17
Then later on as we go through this evening,
01:18
because of that ridge of high pressure that's building in,
01:20
most of the showers through today are actually then going to ease and die out.
01:25
The exception being across the far east of England, east Anglia,
01:28
here a swathe of cloud and some showery rains likely to push in as we go through the early hours.
01:33
Elsewhere, though, it's a dry pitcher overnight with some clear skies,
01:36
and under those clear skies, it's going to turn a bit fresher than recent nights.
01:40
Towns and cities generally holding up in double digits,
01:42
but away from the more built-up areas, quite widely falling into single figures,
01:47
could get as low as maybe four, five, six degrees perhaps in some prone rural spots.
01:53
So a bit of a fresh start to the day tomorrow,
01:55
but a bright, fine one for many away from the far east, south-east of England.
02:00
Here, a bit more clouds and some showery bursts to start the day.
02:03
Otherwise, yes, the cloud's going to bubble up a little bit more as we go into the afternoon,
02:07
but for many, it's going to stay fine.
02:10
There will still be some fairly decent sunny breaks around
02:13
and just one or two showers perhaps to watch out for,
02:16
but these are going to be pretty short-lived and light if you do catch any of them.
02:21
Temperatures for many are going to be a few degrees higher than today.
02:24
We're looking at highs of around 24, 25 Celsius towards the south,
02:27
so mid-20s here, further north, high teens or low 20s,
02:31
so feeling warmer in that bright, sunny weather that most of us will be getting.
02:35
Later on, as we go through Saturday night into Sunday,
02:39
things are going to be turning a bit cloudier from the north-west.
02:42
There's that band of rain that I highlighted at the start that's starting to edge its way in,
02:46
but it's through Sunday itself.
02:48
If we skip forward, Sunday's going to be a pretty wet day at times
02:52
because we are going to see that band of pretty intense rain making its way south-eastwards.
02:56
It's worth bearing in mind it's starting dry in the south-east,
02:59
the rain not arriving until later, and turning drier, albeit showery, across the north-west.
03:03
So this rain doesn't last especially long, but as it passes through, it could be heavy.
03:08
There could even be a bit of thunder mixed in with it as well.
03:11
And then that has a knock-on effect on our temperatures.
03:13
Under the cloud and rain, it's going to feel pretty fresh,
03:16
but when you get some brighter, sunny weather,
03:18
well, it's going to feel relatively warm because it is still August after all.
03:22
Then as we go through beyond and that clears away,
03:25
there's a quieter spell for a short period of time as we start Monday before storm floris arrives.
03:31
Now, it's not that often that we get storms during the summer months,
03:34
but it's worth bearing in mind that at this time of year,
03:37
we could see some increased disruption because of the fact that, well,
03:41
the trees are full of leaf and there are lots of outdoor activities planned.
03:45
You may be camping, you may be trying to head to a festival or something like that.
03:49
And so as a result, we could see some significant impacts
03:52
because of not only the rain but more so the winds,
03:55
which could be gusting 70, 80, maybe even a little bit stronger than that,
03:58
85 miles per hour, not out of the question across northern parts in particular.
04:02
That's definitely something to keep on top of.
04:05
We do already have a warning out, but that may need to get tweaked nearer the time.
04:10
And for more information about storm floris,
04:12
well, you can check out our other content available on our YouTube channel.
04:15
We'll see you next time.
