00:00Giannis to South Beach. Finally, I mean, truly years in the making. Giannis is dealt. He ends
00:08up with the Heat who find themselves with top five title odds, which is seemingly controversial
00:14out there. There's a lot of people who think Miami may not be all that good, or at least as
00:19good as the books are thinking in the moment. There's a Milwaukee piece of this. Of course,
00:24the Miami piece of this. There's a Boston piece of this. We'll unpack those, JY. But let's just
00:29start with the Miami side and how threatening you believe the Heat are in the Eastern Conference
00:38following this deal. You know, obviously, folks, I'm a teacher first. So if I was a teacher
00:45and this was a research paper, the grade is incomplete because I need to know what else
00:51is going to be there. When you look at Miami defensively, Bam and Giannis, they should
00:59be dynamite. Absolute dynamite defensively. My issue is, do they have enough depth? And
01:07more importantly, do you have enough shooting? It's funny. Giannis has been really, really
01:15great when he's had bigs that step out because he needs a floor. He needs space. He needs space
01:23to get downhill. And you obviously had it with Myles Turner, previous before that, Brooke
01:29Lopez. Even Bobby Portis, who was obviously, I think a sneaky good throw in in the trade
01:34as well because of the second unit. But which Bam are we going to see? Because the only time
01:40I've ever seen really Bam outside shooting a three is like, we talk about like Olympic
01:46mellow. There's like Olympic Bam, where he actually would stretch the ball and shoot the ball
01:51from the perimeter. So that's what I need to see out of Miami is Spoke going to change
01:55the offense and bring Bam out to shoot the ball from three where I think he's a capable
02:00shooter because Giannis, most importantly, needs driving lanes. Still don't figure what's
02:06going to go on with Norman Powell. So to me, they are an incomplete, which means it could
02:12be really good or they're going to still be a middle of the road Eastern Conference team,
02:17which is why I don't understand why their odds are so good right now.
02:23So I think that there are a lot of people who have missed the mark a little bit on the
02:31NBA season that we just saw. Everyone keeps talking about San Antonio as if they've won 60
02:41games for five straight years. San Antonio had a win total of 41 and a half, 43 and a half
02:52going into
02:53last season and ended up in the NBA finals. We then got into the playoffs. The Knicks were not the
03:02favorites in the East. That was the Boston Celtics. And then it was kind of jumbled up between the Knicks,
03:08the Pistons and the Cavs. The Knicks ran through the East, were dogs in the finals and won the
03:15championship. And as we made the point, Oklahoma City, who last season was viewed as some
03:22inevitability, the coach and I believe would have lost to Indiana if Tyrese Halliburton did not get
03:28injured. I say this to say people, I think, are misdiagnosing the bar required to win an NBA
03:40championship. I think the league is actually more open, seemingly, than everyone else right now.
03:47And Giannis plus Spalstra plus Bam Adebayo gets you into that conversation. The amount of people that
03:59I have heard suggest that the Miami Heat are going to have a terrible offense next season,
04:07I think have lost their mind. The Miami Heat last year were 13th in offensive rating. And while I
04:18understand that they lost a bunch of shooting, Giannis Antetokounmpo, as someone who's of course won a
04:29defensive player of the year, is going to be, at least if you're doing it correctly,
04:36remembered more for being an elite offensive player. Giannis has been a walking 30 points a
04:45night for half a decade, guys, and doing it on 60% shooting. Like Shaq stuff, okay? That's what
04:54Giannis does. So I agree with everybody. I'm excited about the defensive capabilities because you have
05:00Giannis and Bam, and that sounds like a nightmare to score on. Giannis is too good. Spalstra's too smart.
05:05For this team to have the 25th offense. I just don't know what world people are living in,
05:10coach. Maybe you think I'm too high on it, but I don't think you do. Like you, and you mentioned
05:15like Bam will, Bam's going to shoot the most threes of his career next season. That's just going to
05:19happen. But like, I just, there's too much top end talent and a great, unless people think Spalstra's
05:28watched. Like then that's a different story, but I don't think anybody thinks that.
