00:00The prospects this year of the commanders, they made some sweeping changes.
00:03They got a new O.C. now for Jaden Daniels.
00:07You know, they're changing the defense up a little bit.
00:10You know, Dan Quinn, one of the top defensive coordinating-minded coaches,
00:13runs the football team.
00:15What's your expectations this year for this team?
00:18Well, I think we got a good outlook on this team.
00:21We got two new coordinators defensively and offensively,
00:24David Blough and Durante, you know, two young guys that are energetic.
00:30This OTA this past year has been great, the way the guys came in.
00:35And just looking at them, understanding the year that we had last year,
00:39you can see the desire and the burning in their heart to make sure we don't go that route this
00:45coming year.
00:46You know, so it's a lot of enthusiasm.
00:49I'm looking forward to it, Dan.
00:51You know, with Jaden as the quarterback and some of the weapons that we have,
00:56I'm looking forward, especially on defense.
00:58I think we've helped ourselves a lot on defense and offense, the offensive line.
01:03I like the offensive line a lot, the running game.
01:05So I feel pretty good about our team.
01:08You know, Bernie Kosar said something on our program a couple months ago,
01:12and I want to get your take on it when it comes to developing of quarterbacks.
01:15He said when you quarterback back in the NFL, you didn't have technology in your ear.
01:21He said that we had to dissect the game.
01:24When we got to the line of scrimmage, we had to dissect it.
01:27We didn't have anybody in our ear.
01:29And Bernie seems to think that technology hurts the development of these players
01:34because you guys had to know where to go with the ball.
01:38You had to see your pre-snap reads.
01:40You had to know all that.
01:41People weren't in your ears.
01:42Do you agree with him a little bit on that?
01:45But I think the key here is the systems are so much different.
01:50You know, I sit down, I look at our games all the time,
01:53and I look at when Coach Gill was there and the way we did things.
01:56And when I was in Tampa, Bill Nelson and the way we did things,
02:01it was one of them situations.
02:03Your job was to make sure you watch the defensive back.
02:05And wherever they went, that's not where you wanted to go.
02:08I mean, that's how we was taught.
02:10Well, now, you know, you got a system.
02:12You got one, two, three.
02:13If one ain't open, you got two, hit three.
02:16If three ain't open, throw it away or scramble.
02:18You know, it's a whole new ball game the way they coach it today
02:21compared to back in yesteryear.
