00:00I got to tell you, I've talked more WNBA in one week than I have talked in my entire 35
00:06years of broadcasting.
00:08And I happen to think that that's a good thing.
00:11You know, bad publicity can be good publicity if you use it right.
00:16Unfortunately, the WNBA doesn't do anything right.
00:21And the commissioner, Kathy Engelbert, the idiot that runs this league, she is in over her skis.
00:30Every single time she gets a golden moment to use it for them to be able to promote their league,
00:38this idiot ends up destroying the moment for them to be able to grab that moment and use it to
00:45promote your league.
00:47How about this?
00:48Dan Patrick, I was texting back and forth with Dan Patrick, and he and I were talking.
00:53And I reached out to the WNBA for a comment on the Kaitlin Clark.
00:57And you know what their comment and response was?
01:00We don't have anybody available to comment on this.
01:05How do you not comment on something like this?
01:08A suspension?
01:10Everyone's up in arms over it.
01:12It's leading mainstream television and news sources and the story of what's going on.
01:18And you don't have anybody available?
01:20Well, get somebody available.
01:24I have never seen a league in my life drop the ball more times on being able to do something
01:31to help the entire alumni body of WNBA players.
01:37I've never seen anything like it.
01:40Their leadership is so atrocious.
01:43The commissioner needs to be fired and someone needs to be put in a position that is looking out for
01:50the best interest of the golden goose that you have.
01:53I've said this before.
01:55Every single time that Kathy Engelbert gets a chance when they ask her a question about Kaitlin Clark, she's always
02:03throwing this out.
02:04Oh, yeah, Angel Reese is this and Ajie is really.
02:07Nobody's talking about those people.
02:09You could line up 60 WNBA players and no one would pick them out in a mall.
02:17How many games have you watched WNBA-wise?
02:22None.
02:24They came out with this stupid poster, the 30th anniversary, and they got women on there I've never heard of
02:31because people don't watch it.
02:35And you want me to watch it.
02:37There's one person that's making me have the ability to want to watch it, and you don't promote her?
02:43I asked Ice Cube, we had on the program here, he had a deal on the table for Kaitlin Clark.
02:50Two years, $10 million, and 1% ownership of a team.
02:56He offered this to her.
02:58She politely declined.
03:00That's documented, too.
03:03Cube offered her $10 million and a percent of one of the big three basketball franchises.
03:09She declined it because she wanted to go into the WNBA and build her legacy, and I get it.
03:17But can you imagine if she left the WNBA and went overseas and played?
03:23You'd be back on the 17th page of a sports page.
03:28Dude, they just don't get it right.
03:31It's really weird.
03:33It's either intentional or incompetent.
03:37Pick one.
03:39Are you doing these things intentionally, or are you just an incompetent imbecile?
03:45This Kathy Engelbert I'm thinking is an imbecile.
03:50How in God's name are you leading the troops and trying to expand your sport?
03:57It seems to me that some of these girls that are in this sport would rather play in front of
04:035,000-seat barns versus 25,000-seat arenas.
04:08Make that make sense.
04:11You want to have all these contracts, and you want to have a collective bargaining conversation about raising your salaries?
04:17And you're talking about somebody who's helped raise the visibility of your league to get those salaries raised?
04:2528 years, NBA owners lost money on this league.
04:30And now you have somebody in that league that people want to watch.
04:34Hey, look, I'm not all forgiving, Caitlin Clark.
04:37The baton, she's got to earn it for sure.
04:40And people are coming after her for a reason, because they want some of that glory as well.
04:46And she's got to be better prepared for it as well to take that baton.
04:50Michael Jordan said it many times.
04:52When I came in and I had to take the baton from Larry and Magic, I had to take it.
04:58No one was going to hand it to me.
05:00No one was going to give me the ability to sit there and say, I'm the guy.
05:04I have to go be the guy.
05:07Michael Jordan got his ass kicked when he was a young player for seven years before he won an NBA
05:12championship.
05:14And Tiger Woods, he also faced criticism and racism when he went on the PGA Tour.
05:22The old Fuzzy Zeller conversation about the champions debtor was obnoxious.
05:27All of that.
05:28All these great legendary players have to all go through this.
05:32But, dude, you need better leadership.
05:34Kathy Engelbert, in my opinion, is the biggest imbecile that runs a sports league I've ever seen.
05:41It's time for a change.
