00:00Trinidad and Tobago trap shooter Benjamin Boyd made a name for himself and by extension his country at the Inter
00:06-Caribbean Clay Target Council shooting Barbados recently.
00:09Boyd finished first and therefore grabbed gold, saying it was a special moment for him.
00:15Well, the event itself wasn't very tough, meaning the situation, the range was a nice place, you know, Olympic level
00:24stuff.
00:24The competitors, everybody at the Olympic level, so it was a nice, nice competition.
00:32But nothing comes easy for anyone involved in sport, and Boyd is no different since he had to put in
00:38a lot of effort in order to reap the rewards.
00:41It's a lot of mind control, meaning 90 percent skill, 10 percent mind control, the sport.
00:49So I did a lot of training in Florida for the event, consistent training every week, and it needs to
00:57be done to be successful in shooting.
01:00But where did it all start for him?
01:02Boyd will forever be grateful to his late grandfather, George Ramkasun, who introduced him to the sport.
01:08For Boyd, the aim is to carry on his legacy.
01:11I just instantly fell in love with the sport because I used to do hunting on the side also.
01:16So it came hand in hand with hunting, and it became easy for me very early, very early in the
01:23sport.
01:24The win in Barbados is only the start.
01:27That's because Boyd is training religiously with the hope of representing TNT at the highest level in trap shooting.
01:34Ultimately, I would like to represent the country in the Olympics.
01:38Firstly, Pan-American Games, CSC Games, and eventually the Olympics.
01:43Boyd does not have a license to use his firearm in TNT, hence the reason he trains in Florida.
01:49Then I would now want you to explore it.
