The US Special Operations Command South says U.S. Soldiers assigned to a Special Operations Airborne Battalion joined members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force and interagency partners for training that focused, on among other objectives, 'sharing best practices for operating in austere and jungle environments."

This, as the US Embassy says this training is a perfect example of the impact of strong military cooperation.

00:40Operations Airborne joined members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force and interagency partners for tactical combat casualty care and
00:49jungle technical exchange from June 15 to June 18, 2026,
00:55at Tetron Barracks, Trinidad and Tobago.
00:58Southcom and the U.S. Special Operations Command South said the training focused on medical readiness, casualty management, and sharing
01:05best practices for operating in austere and jungle environments.
01:09Southcom and the U.S. Special Operations Command South further said that working alongside regional military, law enforcement, and security
01:18partners strengthens interoperability, enhances emergency response capabilities, and reinforces a shared commitment to addressing complex security challenges across the region.

01:35In a separate development regarding military cooperation, the Express newspaper is reporting that Prime Minister Kamla Passat-Besessa has disclosed
01:43that there are currently U.S. Navy SEAL team members in the country handling logistics for a larger deployment of
01:50SEAL teams to Trinidad and Tobago.
01:52The Express also reported that Prime Minister Passat-Besessa said the Twin Island Republic will be getting some additional vessels
01:59from the U.S. in the coming months,
02:01and that the American military and intelligence agencies are also increasing their presence in Trinidad to assist in crime-fighting
02:09initiatives.
