00:01Tigers complete the sweep
00:02Greg Ganey on the call. We're talking a little
00:05World Cup, little Tiger baseball. We'll get the Brady
00:06Kachuk and how it impacts us here in Detroit
00:08with Larkin. A few texts.
00:11The U.S. has already won the group. Play the reserves.
00:13Avoid injuries.
00:15In terms of can this team
00:16win at all? They're not going to beat Argentina. They won't give
00:18them cards for anything.
00:21Guys, help me make the comparison. Is the
00:23U.S. winning like Michigan beating the Lions?
00:25Is there a better comparison? Mike
00:26in Charlotte.
00:31John, you shrugged. This says, I don't know what's more
00:33awkward, John talking soccer or rappers?
00:36Yeah.
00:37So our blind ranking on
00:38Friday, I gave to Stoney.
00:41I don't know if you guys heard it.
00:42It was in
00:45reaction to Nelly doing
00:46the postgame Friday night. So I
00:48gave him the ability to
00:50rank, blind rank, the top
00:5210 rappers. You know, back to that
00:54Michigan Lions text, I do think
00:56the Miracle on Ice was a college
00:58team beating a professional team.
01:00We've all wondered if it's
01:02ever, if it could ever happen,
01:03that that was the example of it.
01:07Miraculous is the whole point.
01:09I got some odds to just give you a
01:11comparison. The U.S. to win the World
01:13Cup is 33 to 1.
01:14Okay. It's the equivalent of
01:16the Cleveland Guardians winning the
01:18World Series. They're 35 to 1.
01:21The Tigers are 55 to 1.
01:23The U.S. men's soccer team is more
01:25likely to win the World Cup than the
01:26Tigers are to win the World Series.
01:28Okay. Yeah, I would think that would
01:30be especially given the hole they've
01:32dug themselves in. College football,
01:33you're a college football guy.
01:35Odds, Ole Miss is 30 to 1.
01:37Oklahoma and USC are 35 to 1.
01:40Similar odds to U.S.
01:41soccer winning it all.
01:43Okay. And in the NFL, there's not a
01:45team that's 30 or 35 to 1.
01:47The closest would be the Bears winning
01:49the Super Bowl at 27 to 1.
01:51Bears slightly more likely to win the
01:53Super Bowl than our soccer team is to
01:54win the World Cup. The Hammond Bears.
01:56The Hammond Bears. And in hockey, it
01:58would be like the Utah Mammoth winning
02:00the Stanley Cup. Maybe with their new
02:02player, Dylan Larkin.
02:07Where is this going?
02:08So Brady Kachuk gets dealt yesterday
02:10and you could see this coming from a
02:13mile away. He gets to play with his
02:15brother and he could deny that this
02:17was always a consideration.
02:19But come on now, his no trade list
02:23included Florida, Vegas, and
02:28Minnesota. Sound familiar?
02:32He goes for three firsts and a second.
02:35So it does set some sort of market.
02:37Yeah. How does this impact us here in
02:39Detroit? Obviously, with Dylan Larkin,
02:42it's what does he draw them?
02:44In comparison of picks, is it three firsts,
02:48three seconds?
02:49Because it's going to be more than what
02:52Florida had to give up for Brady Kachuk.
02:54You're getting more with Dylan Larkin.
02:57And the center position is a more
02:58coveted position.
03:00Tom wants to fight about who the
03:01better player is. But yeah, the argument
03:02for Larkin is more goals and more
03:05points over the last two years than
03:06Brady. Brady had 55 and 59 points the
03:09last two seasons. So Larkin more
03:11productive, plays the center of the ice,
03:13kills penalties. Brady doesn't.
03:15No, Kachuk had a 60 game season in
03:17there. It's a little fudged numbers.
03:20Everybody's killing Larkin because he
03:21can't stay healthy.
03:23Look, it's a fine line debate on who is
03:25the better player. I think I actually
03:26think it's the position you need.
03:28That's who you would trade for.
03:30Florida didn't need centers.
03:31They needed a forward, right?
03:33But it also brings some of their
03:34physicality and grit that they're the
03:36style they play with. That's why so many
03:38Red Wing fans wanted Brady Kachuk.
03:40Yeah. Look, I also think if they were
03:42picking between the two, the fact that
03:44the brother plays on the team already
03:46may have the scales in addition to them
03:48preferring a winger. I think this takes
03:50Florida off the table for Larkin.
03:52Oh, yeah. They're reportedly unwilling
03:53to move Lundell. They just gutted
03:56themselves of all draft capital.
03:58That's not going to happen now.
04:00Larkin's not going to Florida.
04:01We can say that.
04:03I think, yes, it's the odds are greater
04:06than 33 to one barring. I suppose they
04:08could use a third team. I just don't feel
04:10like they're really on the table or it's
04:12going to have to be which we would want
04:14actual NHL ready players.
04:16Yeah, I don't know that they're willing
04:18to give up that many NHL ready
04:21players for Dylan Larkin like they're in
04:24the go for it again mode.
04:27So it's are you only going to get back
04:32draft capital? That's the bigger
04:34question is if that's the case, then
04:38okay for Dylan Larkin and for
04:40the future of the wings, but we're
04:44talking what four or five six years
04:46down the road. Maybe it sets them on a
04:49better path, but at that point, it
04:53doesn't do any favors for for Steve
04:55Iserman.
04:57So if we got back the Ottawa return,
05:00we'd be bummed and now maybe they can
05:04use those picks to get players. I think
05:06they as a team that's made the playoffs
05:07the last two years and has some young
05:09players in their prime kind of feel
05:11like they have to do that. Well, and so
05:14it's also why did they get three ones
05:17and a two? Well, they get the number
05:19nine pick this year. So that's a
05:21coveted picture in the next two years
05:24when they have the next first round
05:26picks. Are they going to be last or
05:29second to last of the first round? Well,
05:30so it's nine and 25 in this year and
05:35then it's the 2029 first, right? Because
05:39they can't get they're late first. It's
05:42their late first. They owe a pick to
05:43Boston in 27 or 28. That's conditional. So
05:47they can't trade that first. So they took
05:49the next first. They could which is in
05:5129 and then a 2032nd like they don't
05:53have the capital to make a dollar market
05:56trade and they love Lundell apparently who
05:58makes less money on a long-term deal is
06:00their third center. So yeah, I think we
06:02can take Florida off the list for Larkin
06:04but how does it shape what what Iserman's
06:07going to ask? Well, I look the market is
06:08set now at three firsts give or take or
06:11equivalent to right three firsts. I
06:16wonder in any way push you into these
06:20two got to get into a closed room men
06:22defenses and Dylan Larkin is still because
06:25I'm not saying that is the least
06:28of all outcomes. I still think that is a
06:32possible outcome that Dylan Larkin is
06:37still a wing even if it's just to start
06:39the season. Well, I think it's it's more
06:41on the table because of like Iserman is
06:44not going to just cave like you it feels
06:47like Ottawa caved, right? Right. Hey, he
06:51wants to go play with his brother. We're
06:52going to lose one way or another. He's
06:55only got two years left on his deal. We're
06:56not going to fight it. All right. What's
06:58the most we can get for Florida? I don't
07:00see Iserman is someone who's just going
07:01to say all right. I can't fight it
07:04anymore. Yeah, I think he's going to
07:06stubbornly fight tooth and nail for the
07:09best return possible and that does
07:10increase the chances that Larkin's here
07:12beyond this week and into the season. Yeah,
07:15which is which is why I feel like there's
07:17there's if it was any other general
07:20manager now I'm not you know some expert
07:22on all hockey general managers. There are
07:24some stubborn individuals out there. Steve
07:27Iserman might be the most stubborn and
07:31he's not going to give them up for a song
07:35248-539-9797 a lot at play here at that
07:41USA group chat doing its thing Florida off
07:44the board for Larkin. What is the market
07:45for Larkin plenty of feedback and phone
07:48calls to get to it's 97 one.
