UP Reel Creator Arrested for Allegedly Harassing Schoolgirls, Hundreds of Videos Found on Phone

A youth identified as Robin, a resident of the Khatauli area in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, has been arrested for allegedly harassing schoolgirls and women while filming social media reels.

According to police, Robin used to record videos of female students and women passing through public places, making romantic and obscene gestures while using popular film songs in the background. He allegedly uploaded the videos on his Instagram account, "IM ROBIN".

The matter came to light after several school and college students complained that the accused regularly filmed them without consent while standing along roads and public areas. Locals alleged that he often captured the faces of girls and women in his videos and uploaded the content online.

Residents claimed that many female students were forced to change their daily routes to avoid him, resulting in delays in reaching school and returning home. Concerned parents reportedly remained worried about their daughters' safety.

The issue escalated when some students informed their parents, who subsequently approached senior police officials with complaints. Acting on the complaints, police launched an investigation and arrested the accused.

During the investigation, police reportedly recovered hundreds of videos from the accused's mobile phone. Officials said the videos allegedly showed him obstructing female students and women while recording reels for social media.

A video that surfaced after his arrest shows the accused walking towards a police station, apologising and admitting his mistake.

The case gained significant attention on social media, with several users demanding action from the Uttar Pradesh Police after videos of the accused went viral online.

Parents and local residents welcomed the police action, stating that strict measures against such behaviour are necessary to ensure that women and students can travel without fear or harassment.

Police are continuing their investigation and examining the digital evidence recovered from the accused's mobile phone.
