A tragic incident has been reported from Uttarakhand's Champawat district, where 38-year-old SOG officer Girish Bhatt collapsed while working out at a gym in Banbasa and was later declared dead at a hospital.

According to officials, Bhatt suddenly felt unwell during his workout on Friday and lost consciousness. People present at the gym rushed him to a private hospital in Khatima, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. While the exact cause of death is yet to be officially confirmed, initial reports suggest a possible cardiac emergency.

A resident of Banbasa and a member of the Champawat Special Operations Group, Bhatt was known for his dedication and role in several important police operations. He is survived by his wife and two sons.

His last rites were performed with full honours at Sharda Ghat, with senior police officials, local leaders and residents paying their final respects.

The incident comes days after the sudden death of national-level bodybuilder Sushil Kumar in Karnataka, renewing discussions around medical emergencies occurring during or after intense workouts, though no official link has been established between the cases.
