A car driver allegedly fled without paying after filling petrol worth ₹4,290 at a fuel station in Uttar Pradesh's Ghazipur district on Sunday night.

The incident took place at Rudra Shiv Filling Station in Para village under the Birno police station limits.

According to pump owner Nizamuddin Siddiqui, the driver got his car filled with petrol while salesman Nazil prepared the bill. However, before the payment could be collected, the driver allegedly started the vehicle and sped away.

Salesman Nazil reportedly attempted to stop the car and chased it for some distance, but the accused managed to escape.

Following the incident, a complaint was lodged at Birno Police Station.

Police have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from the petrol pump to identify the vehicle and trace the accused driver.

The incident has raised concerns among local petrol pump operators, who are demanding stricter measures to prevent such incidents and ensure the safety of fuel station staff.

Further investigation is underway.
