Doorbell Detectives - Season 2 Episode 2
Transcript
00:00Stop thief! This sharp-dressed parcel pincher has just intercepted a package meant for this address.
00:06But even in his shorts, our doorbell detective is much smarter.
00:13Across the UK, millions of our doorbell cameras are zooming in on shameless criminals.
00:20Oh my God, there's two men at my mum and dad's house.
00:23We watched them rip it all out in minutes. It was heartbreaking.
00:29But this video evidence is arming a new kind of crime fighter.
00:34I could see Ethan's bathroom door. It's like now shut. You could hear the toilet flush.
00:39Oh my goodness.
00:41I just knew I had to get him. If I have to follow this guy, I will follow him.
00:45Hey, what are you doing here?
00:46I've caught up with him and now he's going to come to justice.
00:49Confronting thieves on your own is dangerous.
00:52Someone coming into your house is really scary.
00:55But sharing intel with neighbours can bring justice.
00:59It just brings the community together. Definitely, we are a bit safer.
01:05Nationwide, doorbell detectives are taking a shot at putting the bad guys behind bars.
01:10Had that recording never been there, I don't think anybody would have ever been caught.
01:15Textbook doorbell detective.
01:21Welcome to Doorbell Detectives, the show that puts sketchy scoundrels into sharp focus.
01:28And today we'll be meeting Shaz, who took on a doorstep scammer only wearing his underwear.
01:34I said stop, but he weren't interested in stopping.
01:37He'd got his parcel and he was only going one way.
01:40We'll hear how two doorbell detectives caught a brazen burglar red-handed.
01:45I could see Ethan's bathroom door and was like, they're shot.
01:48I could hear a little bit of movement in it.
01:50Oh my goodness.
01:51And former police inspector Anton Sullivan will be showing 81-year-old Beryl how easy it is to be duped
01:59on your doorstep.
02:00Have you any idea what's just happened there?
02:02I think I've been scammed.
02:08When a scam comes knocking at your door, it can bring uninvited chaos and can leave you wondering what on
02:14earth's going on.
02:15Have a look at this clip and see if you can figure it out.
02:18Look, early Wednesday morning in Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire, a delivery driver thinks he's got a pickup to collect.
02:26You can hear the door opens.
02:28The homeowner Shaz has come to the door and tells him he's mistaken.
02:34The collection?
02:34Let me see the order.
02:36Sorry?
02:37I've got a collection or two collections.
02:38Have a look at it.
02:40Sorry, I'll have to scan the part and let me see if I want this.
02:43Collection, I'm going to ring the police.
02:45I don't understand what's going on.
02:47Right, Shaz joins me now.
02:49A tense moment on your own doorstep there, Shaz.
02:52What happened?
02:54Day before, I had a mobile phone provider tried to attempt to deliver me a mobile phone.
02:59But I had ordered a mobile phone and I sent the phone back.
03:03Day after, I had this gentleman turn up at my door and try to collect the parcel.
03:09But I hadn't got the parcel.
03:11Right, so far this feels like a scam where somebody's got your details, they've opened an account in your name,
03:18they've ordered a phone.
03:19It's a mistaken delivery.
03:21Your natural instinct is to give it to the guy who turns up at the door.
03:24Then you're on the hook for the bill and they've got a brand new phone.
03:28That's right.
03:29So when that guy arrives at your door, what's going through your mind?
03:33I just felt like something didn't quite add up, you know.
03:37And I was asking him a few questions like, where's your receipt?
03:41Or if you can show me what you come to collect, maybe I can help you.
03:45But if you can't show me anything or can't prove, then I just said to him, like, I've got nothing
03:49for you.
03:50And you didn't because you'd sent the phone back anyway.
03:52I'd already sent the phone back.
03:53I said to him, I'm going to call the police, and then he soon scattered out of there quite quickly
03:57when I said that.
03:58OK, so the phone goes back to the phone provider, where it should be, the courier.
04:03It's sent away empty-handed.
04:05The scam has failed.
04:07Yep.
04:07That's the end of it.
04:08But I was still a bit wary.
04:10Just thought I'd still want to keep an eye out on the CCTV to see if anything else happens.
04:14And it's just as well you did, because the very next day, there is another delivery.
04:19But this time, the whole situation becomes a lot more sinister.
04:22And we'll be finding out exactly what happened a little bit later.
04:30As we've seen, doorbell cameras can be a great deterrent and a way of catching crims in the act.
04:36But how else can we strengthen our defences?
04:41We've sent Anton into our doorbell detective's neighbourhood, armed with some brilliant tips on how to shut the door on
04:48these doorstep scammers.
04:50As much as we may not want to believe it, not everybody who knocks at your door is necessarily who
04:56they say they are.
04:57We've all heard about online scams, but there are criminals out there who are brazen enough to try and steal
05:03from right under your nose.
05:04And they will use all sorts of deception and tricks to get into your home.
05:11The feeling when I got scammed was awful.
05:13I felt so foolish and stupid.
05:16I suppose you don't tend to think it'll happen to me, but it can.
05:19It happens too often, doesn't it?
05:21I think older people are more vulnerable for scams.
05:27Perhaps I'm one of them, but I don't like to admit it.
05:31Anton's come to meet Beryl to see if she's aware of the dangers on her doorstep.
05:39Good morning, Beryl.
05:40Pleased to meet you.
05:42How long have you lived here?
05:43I've lived here for nearly 60 years.
05:46Do you feel safe in your home?
05:48Are you happy with the security that you've got?
05:50At the moment, I'm really happy.
05:52Well, I hope you don't mind, Beryl, but I'm going to perform a scam on you this morning.
05:57And then afterwards, I want to see if you can work out what it is that I did.
06:01Let's give that a try.
06:02I'll be back shortly.
06:03Right.
06:06Time for Anton to get dressed up as a friendly, law-abiding workman who just needs to pop in for
06:12a second.
06:23Hi, I'm really sorry to bother you.
06:25Are you the homeowner?
06:26Yes, I am.
06:27I'm from the Water Board.
06:28We've had a problem in the neighbourhood.
06:30There's a number of properties that are suffering from leaks.
06:33And I want to make sure that we get your stopcock isolated in your home.
06:37I've had no problems.
06:39I don't want you to have any problems.
06:40That's why we're trying to prevent it.
06:42Is there anybody else here at home with you?
06:45No.
06:45Just show me where your stopcock is.
06:47That would be really helpful.
06:48Yeah, okay then.
06:49I'll follow you through.
06:50Okay.
06:51Okay then, come on in.
06:52This is where it is.
06:54Yeah.
06:57It's under there.
06:58So you say it's a switch under here somewhere.
07:01Okay, there's quite a lot of stuff in there.
07:02You don't mind touching any of that.
07:04No, it's okay.
07:05It's a lovely storage cupboard.
07:07Just check to see if the water...
07:09Right, so the water's going to run for a little bit.
07:12So is it this thing here, is it?
07:14That's it, yeah.
07:14It's just like a switch, yeah.
07:16Are you going away on holiday or anything like that?
07:19I've got a couple of things in the pipeline, nothing booked, yes.
07:22A lovely home here.
07:24Oh, thank you.
07:24Are these real tiles or...?
07:26They're real pretend.
07:28Because that's the problem, you know, if you get a leak in the house
07:30and it just ends up causing a mess and you've got to rip all this up.
07:34Yeah, that's true.
07:34Yep, that should do the trick.
07:36I'm going to have to get on to the next house
07:38and my team, I can assure you, will make sure that your house is safe.
07:43Okay then, thanks again.
07:45Yeah.
07:47Anything else you need, just let us know and I'll see you soon.
07:49Oh, will do. Bye-bye.
07:50Thanks very much.
07:57Hi, Beryl.
07:57Do you know what just happened there?
07:59I think I've been scammed.
08:02Yes, Beryl, and for more than just your window cleaning money...
08:05Yeah, I'm from the water board.
08:07While Anton was helping make sure you wouldn't have a leak...
08:10It's under there.
08:11You say it's a switch under here somewhere.
08:14His accomplice was able to walk straight through your front door.
08:17Right, so the water's going to run for a little bit.
08:20And he helped himself to whatever he liked.
08:31In effect, you have been scammed.
08:33Yeah.
08:33So what I did there was I put you into a bit of a fluster.
08:37I never noticed it.
08:39All of that was designed to keep you talking, put you on the back foot.
08:44And the other thing I did is, as we came into the kitchen, I don't know if you noticed,
08:48but I just pulled the door to a little bit.
08:49I've now let my accomplice know, you've got five minutes to get into the house and see what you can
08:56steal.
08:58And you won't have any idea until you potentially start looking for your phone, looking for your keys.
09:03And that's how these scams work.
09:05So a couple of tips I'd say to you is, the first thing is, stop and just give yourself a
09:11moment.
09:12Who are you?
09:13What's this all about?
09:14If you've got a neighbour you can contact, a member of your family, there is no such thing as a
09:19waterboard.
09:20It's not anymore, is it?
09:22It's the utility.
09:23This is your home.
09:25Don't be browbeaten into letting people in.
09:28It's extremely rare there will ever be a reason for somebody to say, there's an emergency, I need to get
09:35into your house, or you need to get out of your house.
09:37What you've helped me with the tips is to stop, think, because if it's somebody cold calling, I'd say, no,
09:47thank you.
09:48Thanks very much, Beryl.
09:50Oh, I better give you this back, it's your window cleaning money.
09:54Sorry.
09:55Take care.
09:56Bye-bye.
10:03What's this fella up to here in Southend, Essex?
10:07Have a look.
10:09Wandering past, he's got an off-the-shoulder look, which is very nice.
10:14Something's caught his eye.
10:16Now he's looking up to make sure nobody's watching him.
10:20Something's grabbed his attention.
10:22It's shiny.
10:23It's big.
10:26Oh, it's a wheelie bin.
10:29And he's decided that he wants it.
10:31Some impressive core strength there to lift it over the wall.
10:34And off he goes down the street.
10:36Clearly, he fancies doing a bit of extra recycling of his own.
10:41You are possibly like me, wondering why anyone would want to steal a wheelie bin.
10:46Anton, I hope you've got an answer, or a couple of answers for me, maybe.
10:49Yes, I know this is unusual, but it could be as simple as your bin's been blown off in the
10:54wind, so you don't want to be spending the money, because these things can cost up to £80 or £90
11:00to replace, depending on where you are in the country.
11:03These can also be used for people wanting to commit antisocial behaviour, like setting wheelie bins on fire, or they
11:10could steal the bins to use in committing other crime.
11:13So, for example, if they're burgling a shop, you load up these bins because you can get a lot in
11:17them.
11:17So that is a number of reasons why your bin would go walk about.
11:21The other thing I think about bins is sometimes it's what's in them that's valuable as well.
11:26You can find out a lot about a person.
11:27Yes, and this is the more sinister side of it, potentially, because what's in your bin might allow a criminal
11:33to identify you as a potential victim for future crime.
11:36So, information such as where you bank, utility bills, personal information such as your date of birth, even down to
11:44if you're on medication or somebody's getting treatment with the NHS, that information might be available in the bin, and
11:50a criminal could either sell that information on or use it themselves.
11:54So, a bin can potentially say an awful lot about the people in the house, what they get up to,
11:59and if they're not there.
12:01Well, thank you for bringing me up to speed. Every day's a school day, even bin day. Thank you, Anton.
12:33Thank you, Anton.
12:36The whole time, unbeknown to Stuart, they had his car in their sights. And Stuart joins me now. Hello, Stuart.
12:45How are you doing?
12:46Hello.
12:46So, quarter to five in the morning, let me guess what you were doing. You were blissfully unaware in bed,
12:51is that right?
12:52Yes. Well, my wife said it's raining outside. I looked out. I thought, oh my God, where's my car? I
13:01mean, it was just an utter shock.
13:03You are security conscious, is that right? Yes. And as you know, the main reason people are losing cars is
13:09because they have these remote-controlled keyless cars. So, I mean, I keep my keys in a pouch, which is
13:18quite safe. They can't use any device to find my key.
13:23A Faraday pouch, isn't it, that keeps the signal from leaking out onto the driveway so where somebody else could
13:30use it.
13:30So, you must have wondered what had happened, though. If your keys are safe, there's no signs of forced entries,
13:37no glass on the drive or anything like that. You must have been desperate to find out exactly how they'd
13:43managed to get access.
13:44Yes, and I did find out. Well, let's have a look at the footage, which is coming straight from your
13:49front door. Two characters, one on either side of the car. Wow, that seems like they've got in incredibly quickly.
13:58Yes. And there's no forced entry, there's no jimmying, and they're off like a flash. They've gone into the middle
14:07of the night. That took them no time at all.
14:09Less than 30 seconds, 30 seconds to get into the car, which is worrying.
14:16And, look, this is your neighbour's footage. And there goes your car, closely followed by the vehicle that dropped them
14:24off.
14:27So, you then did a bit of detective work as a classic doorbell detective, and what did you find out?
14:35Well, I found that this particular car is very vulnerable to people stealing it.
14:43And apparently, the police told me this car is number one to be stolen.
14:49So, I went online, and they were showing you how they do it.
14:54This particular make of car, the front passenger wheel arch, they remove a plate there, and they put an instrument
15:06up there, and it immediately starts the car.
15:09But the company has since put a plate there to prevent that happening again.
15:15Where have we got to with the investigation so far?
15:17The problem has been, the car that was parked belonged to these crooks.
15:23You can't see the registration number very well.
15:26So, the police had to drop the case because there wasn't evidence.
15:30And you can't see the characters' faces either, because they had the hoods on.
15:36Have you replaced the car? Have you gone for a different brand this time?
15:40I've got a different brand this time, yes.
15:42And I've got a proper lock that fits on my steering wheel, and it's got an alarm on it.
15:47Well, that's good news.
15:49I'm sorry this thing has happened to you, but it's lovely to talk to you today.
15:53All right, thanks, Matt.
15:57It is the stuff of horror films.
15:59You wake up to see somebody at your window, only to then discover he's been making himself at home whilst
16:06you've been asleep.
16:08Housemates Craig and Ethan, join me now.
16:10Welcome, lads.
16:12Good to have you here.
16:13Tell me, first off, how do you know each other?
16:15We work together.
16:17We met when we both started working the same day.
16:19Got on really well, ended up living together a few months later.
16:22Yeah.
16:22So, all was going well, and then this happens.
16:26Right, Ethan, you were on a night out.
16:30Where were you exactly?
16:31So, it was actually the weekend of Pride in Newcastle.
16:34So, I was out with my girlfriend and all of her friends, and then ended up back at her house
16:39afterwards and woke up to six or seven missed calls from Craig saying that someone had broken.
16:45Okay, so you were out and about.
16:47Meanwhile, Craig, you're at home.
16:49Yeah.
16:49What was the first you knew that something was up?
16:51I think the first thing I properly remember is, like, the shutters getting banged open and looking up and seeing
16:57this face.
16:59The next thing I sort of remember after that is, like, running out down the street after him in my
17:02boxers, and I got, like, just catching up to him.
17:05And I sort of thought to myself, what am I going to do if I catch him here in my
17:07boxers?
17:08So, I, like, turned around and went back to the flat.
17:11And what did you do then?
17:12I thought, right, I'm awake now.
17:14I'm not going to be able to get back to sleep.
17:15I'm going to go for a shower.
17:17And it's at that point I've walked back through, and I looked across the corridor, and I could see Ethan's
17:22bathroom door that I definitely left open was, like, now shut.
17:25And I could hear a little bit of movement in it.
17:29Oh, my goodness.
17:30Like, weirdly enough, you could hear the toilet flush.
17:34And you know it can't be Ethan, so you know it's got to be somebody else.
17:39Yeah, 100%.
17:41And, you know, it was quite scary at that point.
17:43I couldn't really remember that much about the guy because he was running away.
17:46But when he opened the door, seeing he was the same guy, I shouted out, what are you doing here?
17:51Like, get out.
17:52So, you thought you'd chased him off, but he's back in the face.
17:55Yeah, he's came back, yeah.
17:57What did he say he was doing?
17:58He said, oh, I was having a wee, and it did add up.
18:01You could hear him flush, and at that point he was just walking straight out of the flat.
18:05And I gave him a bit of a hand on the way out.
18:07How do you think he got in and got past you into Ethan's room and Lou?
18:12We're 80% sure he's, like, climbed through Ethan's bathroom window because it was, like, as wide open as it
18:18could have been.
18:19Right.
18:20You could tell he'd been in our flat for a while, and there was, like, cans of Stella of ours
18:24that he'd drank.
18:25So he'd taken a can of beer from the fridge?
18:27Yeah, I think he'd had, like, six or seven of them.
18:29Did he seem drunk?
18:30Did he seem out of control?
18:31Eh, no, weirdly.
18:32He seemed a little bit, like, dazed, if anything.
18:36If he's had six cans of beer, it's no surprise, is it?
18:39I mean, he was really making himself at home.
18:41Yeah, he's had a great night in our flat, honestly, yeah.
18:44And, like, he'd been in Ethan's bed eating pizza.
18:47Yeah, we know he was eating it in my bed because he'd put all the crusts in the bin in
18:51my bedroom.
18:52And he'd also had a kebab downstairs, so he must have been quite full.
18:54He's had a hell of a night.
18:56I mean, it would be funny if it wasn't so upsetting genuinely.
18:59Yeah.
19:00I mean, do you get a sense of how long he was in the flat?
19:03I think he'd probably been there, like, three or four hours.
19:07One thing I struggle to understand, right, he's opening beer cans, opening and closing the fridge.
19:12Can you not hear him?
19:14Is the flat laid out a certain way?
19:15So, we've got quite a long flat, so my bedroom's completely way off at one side,
19:20which is so, from my side of the flat, you just wouldn't really hear it at all.
19:24If Ethan was home, he definitely would have heard it.
19:26Did you work out quickly what he'd managed to take?
19:30So, he basically took everything that was on my, like, bedside table.
19:33So, my car keys, my smartwatch, I had a speaker as well that he took,
19:38and my work phone as well was all gone.
19:41But it's not the end of the world, at least.
19:42Everyone was all right, I suppose.
19:44So, when you spoke to the police, what did they say?
19:46Yeah, well, the first thing they mentioned was, like, get a doorbell camera,
19:49make sure you're covered, and it took us, what, a couple of hours to go and get it.
19:53So, that's in place, and then you kind of settled down.
19:58But did you get that chance?
20:00Because something happened, didn't it?
20:02Yeah, so, like, less than a week later, my brother was staying downstairs,
20:07and I think sort of woken up in a similar fashion.
20:10And he's like, if you check the doorbell camera, and there you could see, like,
20:14he just came back in wearing, like, the exact same thing,
20:17trying to get into downstairs, where my little brother was sleeping at the time.
20:20So, you get the ping, you check out the footage, and this is what you see.
20:26Have a look.
20:29It was the same guy that came back.
20:32So, that's our, like, backyard.
20:33So, if you look down those steps, leads to our, like, basement floor,
20:37and then just on the left, you can see the windows and the door to our kitchen as well.
20:41OK, what time of day are we talking here?
20:44I think it was about 6am, half 6, but it was on Saturday.
20:49Again, it was exactly a week after.
20:50I mean, he obviously thinks you throw a good party.
20:53That's why he wants to come twice.
20:54So, you've got that bit of footage.
20:56It's really crystal clear, that.
20:59Craig, when you looked at it, what did you see?
21:01I was, like, he kind of recognised the face immediately,
21:03and then the first thought was send that straight to the police.
21:06And then a day they got back to us and said, like,
21:09we think we know who that is, we're going to go and, like, look to make an arrest.
21:13And he did, and he was prosecuted.
21:15He was given 32 months in prison.
21:17That's a big sentence.
21:19But this is because it turns out that it wasn't just you that was targeted.
21:23It was a number of other properties.
21:25I mean, it must have been scary for you, Craig,
21:27and it must have been upsetting for you, Ethan,
21:30but absolute vindication of getting the doorbell and getting it up so quickly
21:34to be able to capture that.
21:35Yeah, I mean, it's got his money's worth straight away there.
21:39Because of how quickly you responded, you know,
21:41you gave yourself a bit of closure and took someone off the streets
21:44that was doing a lot of harm to your community.
21:46You must feel a sense of pride about that.
21:48Yeah, I think pride, but also just, like, sleep a little bit easier at night,
21:53just knowing, like, he's not going to come back
21:55because he's obviously in prison now.
21:57Yeah.
21:58Well, listen, next time, Ethan, you're staying home.
22:00Craig, you're going out.
22:01Thanks for coming to join us, and you are great doorbell detectives.
22:05Thanks, boys.
22:11Looking at the video doorbell footage you've captured
22:14can sometimes be a frustrating experience.
22:18Like when someone smashes into your car
22:20and then just drives off into the night.
22:24Or when fireworks get launched at your home by jokers on a joyride.
22:31But when fence jumpers fail...
22:35..it's worth every penny.
22:41Earlier on, we were talking to Shaz,
22:44who was having some very peculiar attempted drop-offs
22:47and pick-ups at his home.
23:02Shaz, you smelt a rat, you knew something was off,
23:06and yet the very next day, there was another delivery.
23:09Let's have a look.
23:11White van comes, but there's a man in a suit,
23:15flags down the van, even before he can get out of the cab.
23:20Are you aware of this at this stage, Shaz?
23:23I am, yeah.
23:24And when I see the van pull up,
23:26I just thought, what's going on here?
23:28Well, what's going on is the guy in the suit,
23:30very well-dressed, is talking to the driver
23:32as he gets out the parcel that's intended for your home.
23:37Had you ordered anything?
23:38No.
23:39Yeah, OK.
23:40They both come towards your door.
23:44Oh, hold on.
23:47He's just given a name.
23:49That is my name, that's my full name.
23:51So he's pretending to be you.
23:54That's correct.
23:55And you're watching this happen.
23:56As I've seen them both walk towards the door,
23:59that's when I've realised something's not right
24:01and I've just jumped out of bed
24:03and ran down the corridor, down the stairs and opened the door.
24:06OK, let's see what happens next.
24:09So there he is, taking away the box.
24:11Oi, what are you doing now?
24:12And there comes Shaz, no shoes, no shirt, no problem.
24:18Chasing after the guy.
24:20What was going through your mind at that stage?
24:22I just thought, what's going on?
24:23But I've got no shoes on, no clothes on, as you can see,
24:26and he's just walking away with his parcel.
24:28Do you catch up with the fella?
24:30So, obviously, I was a bit behind him and I didn't want to get too close as well.
24:33I said stop, but he weren't interested in stopping.
24:35He'd got his parcel and he was only going one way.
24:38And I got to as far as the bottom of the road with no shoes on
24:42and that's as far as I could get.
24:44And this is where you turned doorbell detective.
24:47You contacted your neighbours to see if their cameras had caught anything.
24:51One had actually captured the getaway car, which was hiding around the corner.
24:57And you can see him as he gets closer to this.
24:59He's running towards that car.
25:01They got in the car and drove off.
25:03This is another neighbour's camera and this time it shows the man in the suit
25:08waiting to intercept the parcel before it can be delivered to your home.
25:16So, he's come out of that car to try and intercept the driver.
25:21That's right.
25:22But the driver said he wants to take a picture of the parcel outside the door.
25:26So, that's why they've gone to the door.
25:29So, he has to get the record that says it's been delivered.
25:32Delivered, yeah.
25:32But obviously the guy is posing as you.
25:36Once that photo's been taken, he's given the name.
25:39He's getting out there and out of dodge.
25:42I mean, what that last clip shows is that they are sitting there waiting.
25:46They know when that parcel's coming to that door.
25:48They try to intercept before it gets to the door.
25:50That would have been the easiest way.
25:51But when they've come to the door and I'm watching, it's actually disturbed them.
25:56You've got in the way of that happening.
25:59We know that there was the attempted delivery before of the phone.
26:03Now we have a delivery.
26:05Who's this one from?
26:06So, when I've come back, I've spoken to the driver and then he's given me his manager's details.
26:11I've given them a ring and they have told me five parcels have attempted to be delivered from a company
26:17called Vary.
26:18So, somebody has opened an account in my name and attempted to deliver five parcels.
26:24So, they got stopped.
26:25How much do you know about what was in those packages?
26:28One was a high-value vacuum.
26:30One was a hair straightener, all-in-one type thing.
26:33It's quite a good bit of kit.
26:35Not a cheap bit of kit as well.
26:36They've ordered big-ticket items that they can intercept and then flog on themselves.
26:42So, lots of money involved there.
26:44It is, yeah.
26:44You would have ended up footing the bill for that.
26:46It would have come down to me, yeah.
26:47We've got a response from Vary.
26:50A spokesperson from the Vary Group said,
26:52At the Vary Group,
26:53We take this extremely seriously and we have a full range of security measures to help detect and prevent fraud.
27:00On this occasion, a new Vary account was opened in the target's name by the fraudster.
27:06We acted swiftly to secure the account, investigate the matter in full and report the issue to the police.
27:13For anyone who believes they've been a victim of this type of fraud, they should notify the retailer involved and
27:18report the matter to Report Fraud,
27:21which is the National Reporting Centre for Cybercrime and Fraud.
27:25Have you been told by the police if they've made progress, if they've identified this gang?
27:29I've heard nothing back from anyone.
27:31As far as we know, they're still out there.
27:33They're still out there.
27:33Possibly still trying this sort of thing.
27:35Oh, they'll be doing it again.
27:36Shaz, listen, I'm so sorry this has happened to you, but textbook, doorbell detecting.
27:41Thanks for coming in to tell your story.
27:47If you have a video doorbell clip of crime on your doorstep, we'd love to see it.
27:52Send it along with your contact details to doorbelldetectives at purpleproductions.co.uk.
28:07Bye-bye.
