00:00Up here in the high country of Victoria, it's D-Day week,
00:04when Tyrone and Bianca will be saying I do right here on the grounds
00:09at the Deterang Hotel before the guests move into the pavilion
00:12for the reception.
00:13What was I thinking?
00:15So the reason I said yes to Tyrone and Bianca getting married here
00:21is because they met here and their dream was to get married here
00:24at the pub.
00:25It was a very good decision if it was next year.
00:28Yeah.
00:33Hello, it's Suzanne.
00:35Just wanted to know, are you open for lunch tomorrow?
00:44In the key, there's something right ahead
00:50Always open to me and all my friends
00:55Harmony, harmony
01:07There's still a mountain of work to do.
01:13Everyone's asking me, what thickness do you want the foam?
01:15And I'm like, I don't know.
01:17So I'm trying to work that out.
01:19This is from Mum's Caravan from about 1972.
01:24But they were portable and good to kind of try stuff.
01:27But we've had some good fortune in the pavilion.
01:31The guys from Regency have installed the windows and doors ahead of schedule.
01:35The place is now brighter thanks to the VLUX skylights.
01:39And thanks to Auscool, it's kept at a perfect temperature with the now installed and looking
01:45very sleek Mitsubishi air conditioning units.
01:48Man, that looks good.
01:50I'm going to have to say it's exactly what I wanted it to look like.
01:54Maybe I did a bit better.
01:56And what's more exciting is Andrew and the boys from Merrill John are here to install the new kitchen.
02:01I don't know if Dean's explained it to you, but we were hoping this was going to go inside the
02:06pub.
02:07Oh.
02:08Is that a problem?
02:09We thought it was more al fresco.
02:11Oh, is that the combi oven?
02:12That is it.
02:13Worth the price of a new car because it does everything.
02:16So you can five butts of pork in there and get the crackle perfect on every one of them.
02:21You could do probably 80 steaks.
02:24You could share in that.
02:25Get hot.
02:27Underbar fridges.
02:28Underbar fridges.
02:28And freezers.
02:29You've got those through the kitchen.
02:31Griddle.
02:31That's a six burner.
02:33It's the six burner?
02:34Yeah.
02:34It's like Christmas Day.
02:35It's like unwrapping the world's largest stocking.
02:39Oh man, they're smashing into it.
02:41They are.
02:42Yeah, they've had a great start.
02:44Jeez, you're quick.
02:46That's bigger than I thought, which is a great thing.
02:48You'll need it.
02:49Because that was the thing you kept talking about.
02:50Prep space, prep space, prep space, prep space.
02:53And I thought that meant we had to put in a kindergarten.
03:01Meanwhile, down the road in Wodonga.
03:04Hello, how are you going today?
03:05Good, thanks.
03:06How are you?
03:06Our soon-to-be newlyweds are doing one of the best jobs on the planet.
03:12Taste testing the cakes for the wedding.
03:15Yeah.
03:16I suppose we'd better try all of them.
03:18I don't know why they didn't invite me.
03:20I think I'd want to try the lemon curd one first.
03:23I mean, I'm an expert at eating cake.
03:26Chocolate.
03:27Ooh, that looks good.
03:28Cheers.
03:29Cheers.
03:30Why on earth didn't I get invited to eat cake?
03:33No, I threw them too.
03:34God, I love cake.
03:35Yeah.
03:36I love it.
03:37That's awesome.
03:38And that's my favourite so far.
03:40Yeah.
03:41They're really nice.
03:41Very popular.
03:42Yeah.
03:42Yeah.
03:43Yeah, they look really elegant.
03:44That's sort of what we were going for.
03:46Yeah, perfect.
03:47With the cake finally sorted, the countdown to the big day suddenly feels terrifyingly real,
03:52which means back at the pub, we need a place worthy of the celebration.
03:57I've laid thousands of metres of loons.
04:02Luxury five mil vinyl planks.
04:04Inside the pavilion, change is a happening, and the polyfloor laneway luxury vinyl planks
04:09are coming up a treat.
04:10I'll tell you one thing that is alive and well is the bush telegraph.
04:14Yep.
04:14So, like, word spreads fast about anything.
04:18A great example is we were here having a chat.
04:20I don't know if you remember, we had a chat about what we're going to do about flooring.
04:23And like an hour later, my brother rang, and he'd had a call from a friend of his,
04:28Joel, who owns the local carpet court.
04:30He rang my brother to get my number because he wanted to ring and say,
04:33we're here to help, we'll do whatever, to, we love the pub, we love the community,
04:36we want to support you guys.
04:38Turned out to be an amazing partnership, just a really great guy.
04:42It's looking good.
04:44As well, the finishing touches are being added to the pizzeria.
04:48Bit by bit, it's starting to look like a wedding venue.
04:51That is, until you look outside.
04:55I've decided we need a piece de la resistance for the outdoor area.
04:59But sadly, that's now a piece of resistance to getting it ready in time.
05:14So, what is it I'm planning for the outdoor beer garden area, I hear you ask.
05:26I think Dean and I are great at planning, and we certainly are better at planning stuff together.
05:32I guess when that comes undone is when I come up with a plan and start to enact it without
05:39letting him know.
05:40You can't really put timber across here, because you've got a seven-metre span.
05:44Of course.
05:45One disagreement we did have was over the size of the stage.
05:51When I said we should build a stage, I had kind of gone a fair way down that road with
05:57the builders before he and I discussed it.
05:59Are you sure?
06:00Locky?
06:00Yeah.
06:01Not that he didn't want a stage, but he didn't want one as big as I wanted.
06:05We're going to need some timber.
06:07Have you got 4b2?
06:08Is that what we build everything out of, 4b2?
06:128b12s, 6b200s.
06:13And Shane had it so it would fit a small symphony orchestra.
06:17You definitely want to get some of the blue.
06:19What's the blue?
06:19What's the blue do?
06:20The blue is treated for termites.
06:22Ah!
06:23Country town areas, termites love it.
06:26I wanted it seven metres wide and he wanted it six.
06:28We went back and forth for weeks.
06:32I'm still hearing about it every day.
06:35What else do you reckon I'm going to need to...
06:37Well, flooring, the go-to stuff, yeah, is the yellow tongue chipboard.
06:42Yellow tongue?
06:43Yellow tongue.
06:44What other tongues are there?
06:46There's blue tongues, but that's a lizard.
06:47It is.
06:48So, how much time do we need to give you before the builders start yelling at me,
06:54we need more timber?
06:55Well, next day, pretty much.
06:59Knowing that Mitre 10 will get the building materials to the wrangor on time
07:03means I can now head home to visit my long-forgotten family
07:07and take care of some other business while I'm down here.
07:11Things need to move fast from now on.
07:16So, it's appropriate that Tyrone is about to get into a Ferrari.
07:21Ferrari suit, that is.
07:23How are you?
07:24Welcome to Ferrari.
07:25He's here with his groomsmen to get wedding ready.
07:28It'll be good to see all the boys looking pretty fresh.
07:30I think it's fair to say that these guys could probably count the number of times
07:34they've worn a suit on one hand.
07:36Maybe even one finger.
07:37Nah, it's probably the second time I've worn a suit in me life.
07:42So, Bianca will be keeping a close eye on proceedings
07:45to make sure they get suave matching outfits.
07:49Maybe the blue, I think.
07:51It turns out the suits won't be the only things matching.
07:54That's my one.
07:56T-bone steak for Tyrone, and he got them on the Bucks check.
07:59Yeah.
07:59Jack and James.
08:00I'm going to have one too.
08:01Mine's a bit crusty.
08:03Do you want them?
08:03Awesome, guys.
08:05Turns out the tattoos are not as painful as top buttons and Windsor knots.
08:10That's what really tests a friendship.
08:13Oh, it's a sledgehammer all over again.
08:15Yeah, I don't reckon it's going to go.
08:16Up to the side.
08:18And then I'll get you to do that.
08:23Cool.
08:25Awesome.
08:26Yeah?
08:26Yeah.
08:28Suits sorted.
08:30With the new Meryl John kitchen going in back at the pub,
08:33it's now time to sort out what people are actually going to eat off.
08:36Hey, Shane.
08:36Sully, how are you, mate?
08:37Good to see you, mate.
08:38So while I'm in Melbourne, I'm paying a visit to reward hospitality.
08:42Bowls, plates, knives, forks.
08:44We want to revamp all of that to get everything we need for the restaurant and kitchen.
08:49We'll definitely find something for you today, mate.
08:51Oh, man.
08:52Oh, man, you've got everything.
08:55Oh.
08:57Oh.
08:58Yeah.
08:58That might be a little bit ooh-la-la.
09:01Let's work out what the Palmer's going on.
09:03That's a lot of plates.
09:04These ranges are great, don't get me wrong.
09:06We sell plenty of them all year round, but they might be a bit loud for the Datorang, mate.
09:12While we do want an upgrade to modernise the crockery, we don't want it to feel like we're
09:16bringing the city to the country.
09:18We want it to feel really homely, somewhere that you feel happy to bring your family
09:23in here for weekends or nights or whatever, or for groups of friends to sit around and
09:27talk and feel totally comfortable.
09:29There's also this range here, which I've laid out, which is exclusive to Reward.
09:34This is a new range?
09:35New range.
09:36Yeah.
09:36You'll be one of the first pubs in the state, if not the country, to have it.
09:40Really?
09:40It's got that classic sort of look.
09:42Yeah.
09:43You could be in a country pub.
09:44You could be in a New York steakhouse.
09:46Stackable, robust, dishwasher safe.
09:48I really like that.
09:50It's classy.
09:51It's slightly different.
09:52They look right already to me.
09:54So we'll be the first pub in the country to have those.
09:57Yes.
09:58Done.
09:59Appreciate you coming in.
10:02Thanks to Mitre 10, the builders have really been able to crack on with the stage build
10:06and it's really starting to come together.
10:08We're just pitching the roof there, getting some timbers in to support the roof as well.
10:14So, yeah, no, it's looking good, I think, the stage.
10:17Which is great because the turf has just turned up.
10:21And oh boy, there's a lot of it.
10:26Turf.
10:28A whole heap of pain there, probably.
10:32But there's just one problem.
10:34With everyone busy on other things, there's not enough people to get the turf laid in time
10:39for the wedding.
10:41And I'm over 300 kilometres away.
10:43How on earth are we going to pull this off?
10:46If we don't, I might have to duck back to Mitre 10 and grab a heap of these.
10:55Would you believe there's going to be a wedding here this weekend?
10:59Dirt and dust is everywhere.
11:02The turf has arrived.
11:04All 1,000 square metres of it.
11:06But it's all sitting on pallets that are as immovable as this deadline.
11:11We've had a busy week with getting everything ready for the turf.
11:14But, yeah, I suppose any of those sort of jobs, the more hands you've got, the better.
11:19We don't have nearly enough manpower on site to get this stuff laid.
11:30When you work in the city, you call contractors.
11:34But out here, well, out here, something else happens.
11:44They just start arriving.
11:47From the local sporting clubs, our new friends from Murray Turf, mates, families.
11:56No big speech, no drama.
11:59They just roll up their sleeves.
12:01And before you know it, there are hands everywhere.
12:05Getting stuck in.
12:11Laying turf like they've done it their whole lives.
12:16And why are they doing it?
12:19Because they know it matters.
12:32Job done.
12:33And it's beers all round.
12:36And a good old sausage sizzle.
12:40But just when I think I've seen it all, in rolls a firetruck.
12:47Turns out Peter, our draftsman, is also a CFA volunteer.
12:53And the new Murray Turf is getting its first drink at the Datorang Hotel.
13:05Wow.
13:07Oh, man.
13:09Oh.
13:10Look at that.
13:14At 8 o'clock this morning, when I was in Melbourne, this was all dirt.
13:19And I come here to, in theory, to help them lay it.
13:24And in half a day, it's transformed.
13:28Like, look at this.
13:32It's unbelievable.
13:33Haven't been on the stage yet.
13:34This is it.
13:35This is the first.
13:36I've been on many stages.
13:38But this is the first time I can honestly say I'm standing on our stage.
13:44Today's a good day.
13:48I thought I was renovating a pub.
13:50Yeah.
13:52But it turns out, I've walked into a community that renovates itself.
14:06Now, we're on the home stretch.
14:12While the pub still looks like a bomb hit it, the pavilion is in great shape.
14:16We're stoked with how everything's looking.
14:18Although, there is one bone of contention.
14:22We both definitely said we want a Jetmaster fireplace in the pavilion area.
14:26Their fireplace is fantastic.
14:28It's what you did with the brickwork that's not so great.
14:31It's fantastic.
14:32You said, why do we have a brick Taj Mahal built either side of the fireplace?
14:37So, you can park your car between the brickwork and the fireplace.
14:40Well, that's just because it's so barren here.
14:43Luckily, I've asked the team from Riverina Party Hire and Wodonga's RBR Hire, who are providing
14:48everything for the wedding, if they could help.
14:51Are you able to help us out with tables and chairs for the wedding in the pavilion?
14:55Yeah, not a problem at all.
14:56We've got options there.
14:58We can either do round tables, keep everyone together.
15:01Nice, long, straight bridal table.
15:03Now, it just needs a bit of zhooshing.
15:07Table cloths, accessories.
15:10In nearby Wodonga, the beautifully locally grown flowers are being delivered by Riverina Flowers
15:16and styled by the girls from Little Moss.
15:20We couldn't have made this deadline any tighter.
15:23But as long as the bride and groom don't get cold feet,
15:26I think we might actually pull this off.
15:29There's just one more issue.
15:33We all were thrilled that Tyrone and Bianca were going to get their dream realised of getting
15:38married at the pub.
15:39And then I got a job hosting a TV show and had to head off overseas.
15:43I'm like, oh man, the only person who's not going to deliver on all the promises is me.
15:48Everyone thought so.
15:56Can you just pull it?
15:59Yes.
15:59Just gently pull it up.
16:01Yes.
16:04The big day has arrived for Tyrone and his bride-to-be, Bianca.
16:11I'm feeling pretty good.
16:12I'm excited.
16:13But I'm nervous as well.
16:15Thanks to Priscilla and Jessica from Bright Makeup, Bianca is getting the Hollywood treatment
16:20that she deserves.
16:22Very surreal.
16:23It's just amazing.
16:25It's beautiful.
16:26It's finally happening.
16:28It's a big day too for the Detarang Hotel.
16:31What if we were to try and help you have the wedding here?
16:33We would love it.
16:34Are you sure the pub would be ready?
16:36Because eight weeks ago, this numpty made a promise that only could be made by someone
16:40who has no idea of what's involved in renovating a pub.
16:44Just a little buff out.
16:45Looking good.
16:47But here we are.
16:49And ain't she looking fantastic?
16:52The team have worked so incredibly hard to get here.
16:55And now the final preparations are well underway.
17:00Let's just hope the place holds together for this very special day that is about to host
17:05some very special locals.
17:09One of the truly special things about the wedding was the fact that Dave McKnight has been in
17:15Bianca's own words like a father to her.
17:17She doesn't have a father.
17:18And her dream was to have him walk her down the aisle.
17:21And at that point we went, well now this truly is going to be something special.
17:38On behalf of Bianca and Tyrone, I take great pleasure in welcoming you here this afternoon
17:43to share this very special occasion of their marriage.
18:01It gives me great pleasure to pronounce that they are husband and wife.
18:07You may kiss.
18:22Now comes the real test of how does the new pavilion fare as a reception venue.
18:29And there's one more spanner thrown into the works by yours truly.
18:33I had to quickly run overseas to do some filming for a project.
18:37Dean rang me and said, you promised you'd be the emcee.
18:41And I went, yeah.
18:41He goes, that, that's going to look bad.
18:44And he said, well, you better replace yourself with something better than you, more famous
18:48and that's more talented.
18:50And he said, that's a large list to choose from.
18:53So I thought, I've got an idea.
18:56I'll ring a mate.
18:57It's so thankful that we are here for tonight.
19:00Please put your hands together for the happy couple, Bianca and Tyrone.
19:09That's right, here at the Rangar.
19:12If it's anyone that can keep a crowd entertained, it's Stephen Curry.
19:16We refurbished almost our Datorang Hotel.
19:19Certainly good to have a professional here, wasn't it?
19:22Thanks.
19:24Thanks to our very good friends at Hello World.
19:28I would like to tell you guys that you are going on a very surprised honeymoon.
19:34You are going to Sunny Dubbo.
19:37No, you're not.
19:39No, you're not.
19:40You're going to bloody Port Douglas, baby.
19:46You have a six-night star at the Denhall,
19:49Sucari, Lagoon's Resort, Port Douglas.
19:52Douglas, thank you very much.
19:54Hello, world.
19:56But what would a trip to Port Douglas be without a little bit of luggage?
20:02Here's an employer's luggage.
20:06From July.
20:08And it has the name Bianca Raw.
20:10You are taking your surname, aren't you?
20:12Yes.
20:14That would have been awkward.
20:16On behalf of me and Bianca, it means the world to both of us
20:20to have all of you here sharing this moment with us.
20:23And I hope it's something that we'll all remember for the rest of our lives.
20:29We've done it.
20:31The night is a success.
20:33I've got to say, we're feeling pretty pleased with ourselves for pulling it off.
20:41Even if it has put us way behind on the rest of the renovation.
20:46The thing I always say is the sooner you can fall behind on a project,
20:49the more time you leave yourself to catch up.
20:52Working on the lounge bar at the moment,
20:54stripping all the ceilings, wall linings,
20:56taking out all the old,
20:57and it just gets stripped back to a frame, pretty much,
21:00and then start to fix it up.
21:02So, yeah, we've got a couple of weeks to get it all for us.
21:05There you go.
21:06Two weeks.
21:08Plenty of time.
21:09Oh, boy.
21:10Here we go again.
21:30We bought a pub.
21:31But can they finish the reno in two weeks?
21:34Stripping all the ceilings, wall linings,
21:36it just gets stripped back to a frame.
21:38Two weeks.
21:39What was I thinking?
21:40Will they get it open?
21:42Oops, I bought a pub.
21:43Next Saturday.
