00:18and updates of Installation 4, or the Alpha Halo, in Campaign Evolved.

00:38Movement.
00:39Oh, you greenhorns who wanted to see Covenant up close?
00:43This is gonna be your lucky day.
00:46Master Chief is finally getting to stretch his legs.
00:49In the original Combat Evolved, movement felt deliberate and a little stiff by modern standards.
00:54You could walk, jump, and crouch, but sprinting was a distant dream and aiming down the sights
01:00simply did not exist.
01:02Campaign Evolved changes that completely.
01:04Sprint is available on demand, and every weapon now supports proper ADS.
01:09And the difference is immediate.
01:11Traversing the sprawling environment of Installation 4 feels faster and more responsive without
01:16losing the weight that made the original Chief feel like a walking tank.
01:20It's not something you immediately notice if you're a long-time player of the original
01:24Bungie entries, but you'll still absolutely find yourself hitting the sprint button on muscle
01:28memory alone when you're deep in a firefight and your health bar starts flashing red.
01:34Time for a little payback.
01:51The original Combat Evolved treated health like a precious, non-renewable resource.
01:56Once your shields dropped, that red bar only came back with health packs.
02:01Campaign Evolved softens the blow by letting both shields and health regenerate.
02:04Though health recovers noticeably slower than the shields.
02:08The change keeps the tension of the original intact while removing some of the more punishing
02:12scavenger hunts from medkits.
02:14You still can't face tank everything, but you are no longer one bad engagement away from
02:19limping through the rest of the level with a sliver of health.
02:22It's a sensible middle ground that respects the classic difficulty curve without forcing
02:26players to memorize every health pack location like it's 2001 all over again.
02:31Legendary, however, still takes no prisoners.
02:35Here it comes!
02:40Operation Meteorite
02:41You don't seem as impressed as the rest of your crew.
02:44No, Sergeant Major, I'm not.
02:47Takes more than fancy armor and a good PR campaign to impress me.
02:50Campaign Evolved updates more than just the graphics and cinematics, for better or worse in some cases.
02:56It also adds three brand new missions collectively called Operation Meteorite that take place roughly one year before the events
03:04of the main campaign.
03:05These original levels give players a proper prequel taste of the conflict and let the team experiment with new set
03:11pieces while still feeling like classic Halo.
03:13It's a smart way to add value without rewriting the sacred text of the 2001 campaign.
03:18For long time fans who have played the original campaign into the ground, these missions are the clearest reason to
03:23jump back in.
03:24Regardless of the questionable writing and new characters, it's still an interesting experiment that gives players more things to shoot.
03:31We're still thankful none of these new characters stick around long, though.
03:34Nice work.
03:36Thanks.
03:37Spartans aren't the only badasses in the UNSC.
03:40Expanded Arsenal
03:42Touchdown!
03:43Hit it, Marine!
03:44Go, go, go!
03:46You better come in a lovely party for him.
03:48You're going real nice to do it.
03:51Damn.
03:53Nine weapons from later Halo titles have been carefully added to the campaign-evolved arsenal, giving Chief a much wider
04:00toolkit without completely breaking the original sandbox.
04:03The newcomers sit alongside the classics rather than replacing them, so the Magnum still feels like the Magnum and the
04:08shotgun still clears rooms the old-fashioned way.
04:11The expanded options also open up new approaches to familiar encounters and let players experiment with loadouts the 2001 version
04:18never allowed.
04:19It's the kind of update that makes replaying old levels feel fresh instead of purely nostalgic.
04:24Of course, some purists will insist the original six weapons were perfect, and those people are welcome to keep their
04:29plasma pistol and their principles while the rest of us enjoy the extra firepower.
04:42Hijacking
04:42Vehicle play in the original Combat Evolved was fun, but limited.
04:46You could drive, you could shoot, and you could occasionally get very creative with a Warthog, but hijacking enemy vehicles
04:52was not part of the package.
04:54However, Campaign Evolved finally brings that mechanic over from later games.
04:58Players can now yank Covenant drivers out of their seats and take the wheel themselves, which opens a whole new
05:04layer of chaos during vehicle-heavy sections.
05:06It's a small change on paper that completely alters the flow of certain encounters.
05:11Players who became accustomed to seeing the game over screen finally have a way to fight back against an encroaching
05:16fleet and can once again remind the Covenant why they call the Master Chief a demon.

05:33Streamlined Pacing
05:34I would conjecture that the other species currently on the installation are responsible for releasing the blood.
05:40They seem most persistent in their attempts to access restricted areas.
05:44A few of the original campaign's more infamous sections have been thoroughly reworked for better flow and navigation.
05:50The library, in particular, reduces the endless repetitive corridors and overwhelming flood density while adding clearer wayfinding and some new
05:58guilty spark dialogue to keep the mood intact.
06:00The goal was never to sand off every rough edge, just the ones that felt more frustrating than fun 25
06:05years later.
06:06The result is a campaign that still feels like classic Halo, but moves with a bit more confidence.
06:11Longtime fans will still recognize every major set piece, while newer players will simply curse less while trying to find
06:17the next objective.
06:18It's the rare remaster change that improves the experience without erasing what made the original memorable in the first place.
06:24Which means that any organism with sufficient mass and cognitive capability is a potential vector.
06:30On that point, all the tests were conclusive.
06:34Four-player co-op
06:35Sleep well?
06:36No thanks to your driving, yes.
06:39So you did miss me.
06:40The original Combat Evolved limited co-op to two-player split-screen, which was charming in 2001 and slightly limiting
06:47ever since.
06:48Campaign Evolved jumped straight to four-player online co-op across Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 5, complete with shared progression.
06:56Traditional two-player split-screen is still there for the couch purists, but just make sure you both have not
07:01only a PSN account, but separate Microsoft accounts as well, because reasons.
07:05The jump to four players turns the campaign into a proper squad experience without losing the cooperative spirit that made
07:11the original co-op so memorable.
07:13Dropping into the silent cartographer or the final stretch of two betrayals with a full fire team feels like the
07:18natural evolution of what Bungie started.
07:20Arguments over who gets to drive are to be expected and just part of the Halo tradition, because the more
07:26things change, the more they stay the same.
07:40Sculls.
07:41Chief, can you hear me?
07:44The last, are you alright? Can you move?
07:49The others, the impact, there's nothing we can do.
07:53Skulls make their bony return in Campaign Evolved in full force.
07:58The remake includes 42 of them, mixing returning classics with a large batch of new modifiers that alter difficulty, visibility,
08:05enemy behavior, weapon performance, and more.
08:08The original game had only a handful of these hidden challenges, but the remake turns them into a full playground
08:13for players who like their Halo a little broken on purpose.
08:17Some skulls make the game significantly harder, while others just make it weird in the best possible way.
08:22Hunting them all down adds a layer of replayability that the 2001 version only hinted at.
08:27Whether you are a completionist, or just someone who enjoys watching grunts bounce around like pinballs, the expanded skull list
08:34has something for almost everyone.
08:36However, don't expect all of the skulls to be helpful, because much like a monkey's paw, more than a few
08:41of them carry a curse that will follow you to the grave.
08:43All hands, this is the map.
08:45You're a bag of scared!
08:48Yeah!
08:48Combat teams, all outboarders until I...
08:53No multiplayer!
08:55We should move out, Lieutenant, and then we'll need your help on a rescue mission.
08:59Campaign Evolved is exactly what the name suggests.
09:02A campaign-focused remake.
09:03There is no online PvP multiplayer suite, no new maps, and no attempt to recreate the classic multiplayer experience.
09:10The decision keeps the project tightly focused on the single-player and co-op campaign instead of splitting resources across
09:16a full multiplayer offering that would have competed with the existing Halo Infinite ecosystem.
09:21For players who mainly want to revisit the story with modern improvements and friends, the lack of multiplayer is barely
09:26noticeable.
09:27But for those hoping this would also serve as a classic multiplayer revival, it's an obvious omission.
09:33The trade-off seems clear.
09:34One solid campaign experience rather than a jack-of-all-trades package that might have diluted both sides.
09:43I leave home for a few days and look what happens.
09:47This won't take long.
09:49Updated Collectibles.
09:51Someone has released a gun.
09:52My function is to prevent you from leaving this installation, but I require your assistance.
09:58Come this way.
10:01Beyond the greatly expanded Skull list, Campaign Evolved adds or enhances terminals and other secrets that dig deeper into the
10:08lore of Installation 4 and the events surrounding it.
10:11The original game had a handful of these hidden story bits, while the remake treats them as a proper secondary
10:16layer for players who like reading between the plasma rifle blasts.
10:20New and updated terminals expand on characters, events, and forerunner mysteries without forcing the information into the main cutscenes.
10:27It's a quiet but welcome improvement for anyone who ever finished the campaign and immediately wanted more context.
10:33The Collectibles respect the original tone while giving lore fans a better reason to poke around every corner.
10:39Halo historians need to wait for the all clear before approaching any of these terminals, however, because the Flood is
10:44far less interested in learning their history than you are.
10:47Halo. It's finished.
10:56No. I think we're just getting started.
