00:02Round 1!
00:03Ready?
00:04Go!
00:06Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're taking a look at the 10 games with the most realistic
00:11fighting mechanics.
00:19Before we begin, we publish new videos all week long, so be sure to subscribe to MojoPlays
00:24and ring the bell to be notified about our latest videos.
00:27Tekken Series
00:30It's funny to call Tekken realistic under any means.
00:38This is a game where dinos are wearing boxing gloves while fighting robots, and martial artists
00:44imbued with demon power go through a decades-long family feud.
00:48But we should give Tekken attention for hiring real martial artists to assist in development.
00:53Yes, real martial arts experts are typically hired to help with motion capture performance
00:59during a new game's development.
01:01Obviously, some moves depend entirely on the animation team to implement, but for the most
01:05part, Tekken honors hand-to-hand combat in some of the best and coolest ways.
01:11You win!
01:13Ushido Blade
01:19It's always been a tad ridiculous seeing characters take several lethal blows from a blade.
01:25Funny, but ridiculous.
01:27Ushido Blade aimed to bring a bit more realism to fighting games back in 1997 by making lethality the key mechanic.
01:35You and your opponent both wield weapons that can end the other in a single hit.
01:40What resulted was a game that required highly defensive playstyles and knowing when to trick your enemy into whiffing.
01:47It was an intense game, but it was one of the coolest games Sony and Square Enix had ever published.
01:52Ushido Blade
01:57Overgrowth
02:03So, we know this seems strange, calling a game starring anthropomorphic animals realistic, but looks aren't everything.
02:10No, the combat's speed and feel is what makes the fighting realistic here.
02:15Overgrowth's combat is fast and fierce, almost like watching a street brawl.
02:20Of course, there are some creative liberties taken with everybody being rabbits, but the different ways you can attack, block, and parry make the entire game seem like a frenetic martial arts movie.
02:31Between our other 9 entries, this may be the most unrealistic because of the different jump kicks.
02:36Nevertheless, it is a ton of fun to play with all the different maneuvers you can pull off.
02:41Sleeping Dogs
02:43Initially, we were considering the Like a Dragon games until we remembered all the ridiculous weapons and abilities you can use.
02:56Sleeping Dogs, on the other hand, is like a more grounded version of Like a Dragon.
03:01You can still use the environment for unique takedowns and maneuvers.
03:04However, the game has a lot more weight behind moving around and more impact when landing hits.
03:10Obviously, we can't imagine most people being able to actually pull off some of the moves you'll see in this game.
03:16Regardless, Sleeping Dogs is an excellent title when it comes to making combat feel somewhat real, and you get a really captivating story to go along with all the encounters.
03:34Kingdom Come Deliverance series
03:44So far, we've talked about games with compelling animation and mechanics.
03:48The Kingdom Come Deliverance games approach combat way more differently.
03:52Both games start you off at a super low skill level, meaning your combat skills are an absolute joke.
03:58But the realistic part of this comes in the time and effort you put into honing your skills.
04:03Not only do you get better the more frequently you fight, you can also talk to certain NPCs that can further refine your skills or even teach you new moves.
04:13In other words, Kingdom Come Deliverance's fighting mechanics lean more towards time investment rather than just looking and feeling real.
04:22Do it!
04:27You should have yielded! Now we'll display your corpse on the pillory!
04:32Absolver!
04:33If you want a fighting game that is much more technical, Absolver is absolutely the game for you.
04:45Build your character and become a master across four distinct fighting styles as you take on different opponents in both PvP and PvE modes.
04:54Each stance can inflict attacks that stun and stagger, but how you chain these attacks together is up to you.
05:00Study your opponents, attack accordingly, and you just might walk out of every fight unscathed.
05:05But much like Kingdom Come Deliverance, you might have to dedicate a handful of hours or so before you finally get a grasp of the mechanics.
05:13Victorious Boxers, Ippo's Road to Glory
05:26The interesting thing about this game is that it does not play like other games based on anime and manga.
05:31Despite the visuals, Ippo's Road to Glory is very much a boxing simulator like some of the boxing games you've played from, say, EA.
05:39You will have to utilize real attacks and maneuvers seen in actual boxing matches in order to come out on top.
05:46And fair warning, this is by no means an easy game.
05:50Even at the time of release, many critics noted how Ippo's Road to Glory was incredibly difficult.
05:55So, if you want a good boxing game with a lot of challenge to it, this is a good one to jump into.
06:01Sifu!
06:10Sifu is a lot like Kingdom Come Deliverance in that it leans into time investment as a means to hone your skills.
06:16However, its approach is vastly different.
06:19Starting out, Sifu doesn't give you much.
06:22There are enough moves to work with, but the difficulty is going to start out relatively high early on.
06:27However, upon each failure, your character gets older and wiser.
06:32Though your character ages, you also gain access to one new move every time you age.
06:38Almost as if your character spent another year training.
06:41And that is where the realism sets in.
06:52Hellish Court.
06:59This has got to be one of the most unique fighting games we have seen in the 2020's.
07:03Hellish Court is unlike any other weapon based fighting game you may have seen, as its entire combat system is based around physics.
07:11Every move you make, be it an attack, a block, a parry, a dodge, anything, can either put you at an advantage or severely compromise you.
07:19You will have to be strategic across every fight and not just go in wildly swinging your blade around.
07:25Although, once you get a handle on how your favorite character functions, Hellish Court becomes one of the most satisfying games you can play on PC.
07:33Virtua Fighter Series
07:35Tekken may take some creative liberties to make fights more exhilarating, but of any video game out there, Virtua Fighter has the most realistic fighting mechanics.
07:50Just like Bandai Namco's flagship fighter, Virtua Fighter bases every character's moves off of real martial arts.
07:58The big difference here is that fights are kept grounded with more focus on wall hits, corner tech when possible, and different stuns.
08:05While it is possible to juggle, it's a bit harder to do in these games than other fighting games.
08:10And that is why Virtua Fighter is the best at realistic fighting.
08:14What's a game that you felt had some realistic combat?
