00:00The winter is sort of yarding, obviously with a large number of feature sales over the last four weeks
00:05they seem to absorb a lot of the 280 to 360 kilo cattle
00:10so they were scarce, almost non-existent here today in my opinion of both steers and heifers
00:15but our heavy run, heavy feeder cattle, both steers and heifers were very good
00:21and I thought there was a few here, some exceptional sales selling from early five
00:26right up to the sort of mid to high 500 cents a kilo consistently on those
00:31and I thought the heifer portion, without going into the finders, was almost entirely $5 plus
00:37with some isolated sales, sub that, but that's driven by quality
00:41and it seemed to me that this yarding was filled with people clearing the decks a little before the winter
00:46so all in all a mixed quality yarding but I thought the result was pretty fair
00:50with a number of travelling agents from either South Australia and orders out of southern New South Wales
00:55which well supported, certainly the light cattle, major feedlotters here, all in attendance
01:00with two main, being the main purchases of those feeder cattle
01:04and yeah, all in all a fairly good day
01:07Some of the cattle certainly starting to show signs of it cooling off
01:10we have been lucky that it's been fairly mild here for early winter
01:15so I think we'll start to see that through the following months
01:18cattle really presenting with a bit of coat and lacking a bit of condition
01:22but I think we've seen the last of probably those better runs of wieners
01:26I think they're certainly starting to run out and we saw that here today
