Nutrien East Gippsland livestock manager Brad Obst gives an overview of the Bairnsdale store sale.
Transcript
00:00I thought it was a very strong sale here today and probably fully in line with what we've been seeing in recent times.
00:06The heavy end of the steers, probably steers 4 to 500 kilos plus, all in that sort of $5 depending on breed, $5 through to $5.70 on those heavier end of the cattle.
00:18With the feed-away cattle certainly making that, the 4 to 500 kilos certainly making that top end of that money as well, through the wiener cattle, a lot of the well-bred lines of wiener cattle making from sort of $5.50 through to $6, which is pretty much in line with other places.
00:36The top end of the heifer market was touching around that sort of $5 to $5.20 with the lighter heifers trading around that sort of $4 to $4.50 mark.
00:45In terms of dollars, top end of the steers, I think the top steers was $2,800, top of the wiener steers probably would have been about $2,200, $2,300, and the top of the heifers, I did see a pet make $2,180, but in general, the better end of the heifers were sort of all that sort of $1,400 to $1,700.
