Jack Ginnane, Nutrien Leongatha talks about the Yea fortnightly store sale with Andrew Miller.
Transcript
00:00Quite a wintry yarding today. Not a lot of heavier cattle, a lot of lighter cattle today
00:04in wintry condition, but sold accordingly. Sold very, very well. We saw some $6 sales in the steers.
00:11We saw probably, I reckon I haven't worked it quite out, but they'd be very close to $5 a kilo
00:14in the smaller heifers. So yeah, very well supported from all around the state looking
00:18to restock. Not a lot of commission buyers nor feedlotters active today, if at all,
00:23and very good local support as well. Small yarding, look, I'd say a lot of these cattle
00:27have probably gone out of the area already that are usually being sold. But a bit of the time of
00:31year, it sort of always quietens down a bit, sort of that July, August, and people getting ready for
00:36cattle to come in the spring, have their 12-month-old cattle for sort of September, October
00:40calving last year that will be ready to sell in the next few months as the grass and the conditions
00:45start to ramp up a bit.
