00:36say you can thank mother nature there'll be uh at least tomorrow uh you get one o'clock uh we'll

00:41if they even play on friday uh it is supposed to rain all day friday so i don't even know
00:47if they're
00:48going to be able to get in game five or if they're going to have to push everything back and
00:52maybe
00:53we'll have a game on sunday preferably after browns and ravens if that does happen yeah i was
00:59thinking about that like would they move it to sunday and then turn around because you turn around
01:03and then you got monday then in in tampa bay and that feels like uh that feels like a really
01:07quick
01:07turnaround uh but i also i i really logistically i don't know what they would do i i think it

01:12take a lot to move that game on friday but you look at the forecast it's rain all day yeah

01:18i mean if if the forecast holds up they may not have a choice um but to do that uh

01:26if you want to play um an alcs game against the nfl at one o'clock though or even at
01:32four o'clock
01:33so that's why i was thinking me you know if you do have to move it you you want to
01:37have it be a seven
01:38o'clock or an eight o'clock first pitch sunday night and then you turn around get back to tampa

01:43by the way is is you know pretty much done throughout the regular season uh when you talk
01:49about uh traveling and all those type of things i highly doubt that they would bump the entirety of
01:56the alcs back in other words give monday an off day and then play game six and seven if needed

02:04tuesday and wednesday i don't think that they do that so um yeah mother nature is not cooperating
02:09with this american league championship series here in cleveland all of a sudden all right daryl uh how
02:15where's your confidence has it grown has it diminished after the first two games of the alcs
02:20um i i i like the guardians chances still uh the the fact that they were able to get game
02:26one i think
02:26was uh that that was the big one not all that uh disappointed last night one bad half inning which
02:35just was an absolute killer uh with jose ramirez the the mental error followed by the physical error
02:41tampa bay scores three one and three runs i should say and that's all she wrote um but um i'm
02:48still
02:48i'm still confident in this offense they're gonna be able to do enough then they had six hits last night
02:53um they left nine runners on base uh joe adele had a couple of spots where unfortunately he wasn't able
03:00to come through uh with the big hit that they needed i'm not picking on joe that just you know
03:04that just happens but um i i like throwing gavin williams tomorrow um i i think that this is still
03:11set up so far in cleveland's favor and you know just take two or three at home go back to
03:18tampa bay
03:19leading three two you only need uh one more after that and i like the guardians uh ability to go
03:25ahead
03:25and get that done and get on to the world series all right daryl what's interesting with the browns
03:29ravens injury report is that as many people that were on the browns injury side the ravens somehow had
03:33more yeah well i counted three times 17 cleveland browns 19 baltimore ravens and like i said i counted
03:43that three times because the numbers were so absurd that i didn't trust my own math yeah that's wild
03:48and i noticed in the last half hour or so adam shefter some of the national guys have highlighted
03:53quinshawn judkins yeah not practicing in today's uh practice session what do you make of that yeah i mean
03:58somebody in the organization talked and gave him the heads up that quinshawn uh potentially uh may
04:04not play on uh sunday and it's it's been tough sledding for him early in the season he's averaging
04:10around three yards per carry this browns running game just has really struggled to get going i don't
04:16know that sunday is the day to expect that all of a sudden they're going to start running the ball
04:20uh against baltimore um you know the ravens are middle of the pack and run defense giving up just
04:26over 100 yards per game but um they're big they're strong they're stout in that front seven of the
04:32ravens the nasty and mean and all those things and um uh if the browns are going to keep running
04:38out of
04:38the gun the way they've been i just i don't know that there's a lot of success to be had
04:42there and
04:42also too brown's pretty thin at the running back position right now as well you know fingers
04:47crossing that maybe dylan sampson will you know make a you know miraculous recovery here and be
04:53able to be uh available on sunday coming off injured reserve but yeah this is uh this is a tough
04:58spot
04:59that the browns find themselves in daryl we've talked a lot about the offensive line issues we've
05:04also talked a lot about quinchons and is is confidence is it that or is it maybe vision stuff
05:11how much of this though comes back to the shotgun i thought it was interesting that the cbs
05:16crew uh in the jets game mentioned the stat was they're playing uh out of the shotgun 95 percent
05:24of the snaps yeah so far by that point in the season well and the other part of this too
05:28is
05:28if you go under center you certainly don't want that telegraphing that you're going to run the
05:32football right you're going to have to run a chunk of your passing offense from under center now
05:38deshaun watson was asked today if he has a preference of being in the gun he said it doesn't matter
05:43which means uh if you believe that i got some beachfront property in denver i'd like to sell
05:48you uh because we've learned with deshaun watson when he tells us something doesn't matter it
05:53absolutely does matter to him and that's fine like if that's where he's most comfortable look todd
06:00munkin has a has a a duty as a head coach and game planner to to put his players in
06:07a position where
06:08those players feel like they're going to be the most successful and be the most comfortable um but
06:13you know as far as the lack of success for quinch on it's stuff like i don't know what the
06:18reads are
06:18like i know what i'm watching when i when i'm watching the all 22 or i'm watching the tv copy
06:25you know it it's easy for me to say yeah quinch on on that one should have probably gone left
06:29instead
06:30of gone right but i don't know maybe the play was designed to go right and he was going where
06:33he was
06:33told to go but i do think um there is a little bit of vision involved here with quinch on
06:40you said
06:40confidence nick maybe you toss that in there as well he's you know he usually has you know one or
06:46two really big chunk plays and runs in games and we're not seeing a lot of that either out of
06:53him
06:53and you know uh up until this this injury uh he was fine so we couldn't sit there and say

07:00he's still not recovered from uh all he went through last year and ending up on injury reserve
07:07and having surgery and all those things because you know he really did look to have a burst uh you
07:13know throughout the offseason and training camp and that and i just i don't think that that burst is
07:17there right now i'm wondering if the you know the the current uh ankle injury he's dealing with
07:22i'm wondering if that is uh you know part of the problem here part of the issue uh that they're
07:29having but um you know you can't if you're out there you're expected to produce right and we've
07:37done this with quarterbacks who've played hurt i guess got to do it with running backs as well but
07:41like it's just this run game for one reason or another i thought le charles bentley on his sub stack
07:46wrote a fascinating piece about the geometry and the spacing and so many layers that go into effectively
07:52running the football including trying to do it uh out of the gun and uh you know your your your
07:59tailback is in a non-traditional uh alignment there next to the quarterback rather than behind him
08:05where the quarterback just very easily turns and hands it off when he's coming out from under center
08:08and things like that so i don't know what's going to take to get it going i'll just say this
08:12that
08:13hearing todd munkin this week saying he doesn't know what's wrong with the running game
08:16that might worry me the most does shador hiring an agent tell you that he's beginning to think
08:21about his future not being in cleveland i i won't say that jonathan but it's hard to ignore and it's
08:28very interesting like he needed an agent going through the draft process that's when he really
08:33needed an agent his rookie contract is set there's nothing that can be done with the rookie contract
08:39he seems to be doing quite okay off the field not only through the nfl's uh you know rev player
08:46revenue
08:46share program that they have right he was one of the top earners uh last year uh among the rookies
08:52and whatnot and even league wide uh so yeah i i i mean he's not due for a contract extension
08:58anytime
08:59soon so you connect the dots and i certainly don't want to sit here and put any words in shador
09:04sanders mouth or his new agent's mouth but it's it's kind of hard not to notice the the timing of
09:11things he's clearly planted behind deshaun watson okay he's not replacing deshaun anytime soon barring
09:17an injury um he didn't beat deshaun out yes he's better today uh in my view than he was this
09:25time
09:25a year ago uh but yeah the the timing of the hiring of the agent hard to ignore and hard
09:30not to have
09:31the thoughts that you just uh suggested there jonathan that he could potentially be looking for
09:37some way to uh leverage his way out of cleveland and go somewhere where he can play but i i
09:43don't
09:43know where that is at this point right now either daryl obviously it felt like after winning three
09:48straight games all right you know deshaun is the uh solidified in his position here yeah that game on
09:54sunday was pretty bad we know the context around him and that we've i've kind of gave him a bit
09:59of a
10:00pass for that game because what happened around him yeah but how big of this how big is this game
10:05for deshaun in terms of his his kind of uh solidified position as browns quarterback yeah um
10:13i i think yes there were some bad throws uh in in in things that happened in that jets game
10:19but he did
10:19not get help from the supporting cast he did not get help from his offensive line certainly didn't
10:24help from his running backs did not get help from isaiah bond and i don't mean to pick on isaiah
10:28but
10:28those were two really big drops that could have changed the football game for the browns i'm giving him
10:33uh the grace of not coming up with that touchdown even though i still felt there was a way he
10:39could
10:39have caught that touchdown pass as well because you know your great playmakers make those type of
10:45plays uh when they when those opportunities present themselves i'm not going to give him grief about
10:49turning up the field when he was pretty much hydro planning his way out of bounds there but um as
10:55far
10:55as deshaun goes i don't feel like that there's a lot of uh his job is on the line for
11:00lack of a better
11:01phrasing nick okay this week against baltimore i i would say give it two more of those type of games
11:08on uh you know the next two weeks here and then i think we can start really having those conversations
11:14again if the browns offense isn't moving the ball they're not very productive not putting points on
11:18the scoreboard because scoring 12 points just doesn't cut it i don't care if it's raining or not
11:22like they're just no excuse for doing that and this is a franchise historically for whatever
11:26ever ungodly reason they're the only franchise in the nfl that can't score 20 points a game
11:32uh with any semblance of regularity i don't get it it doesn't matter who that coach is doesn't matter
11:36who the offensive coordinator is don't matter who the quarterback is there have been 42 of these guys
11:40they just for whatever reason cannot score 20 points a game on a regular basis it drives me nuts
11:47because that is the bare minimum in the modern national football league in the way the rule book is
11:53set up and written and and all those things 12 points just doesn't cut it that was very sloppy
11:58last weekend on everybody's part not just the sean not just on the running game not just on uh isaiah
12:06bond and the drop footballs or the lack of protection up front just collectively a failure and a mega
12:12collapse in the final what four minutes and 20 seconds there uh as well just some really stupid football
12:18all around and um you know again two more weeks of that then yeah i think uh we're going to
12:25be having
12:25a conversation about whether or not todd munkin needs to be considering a quarterback change or not
12:30there i want to go back to the injury stuff for a second uh did you observe carson swessinger in
12:34the
12:34walking boots i heard he was in a walking boot today and yeah what does that what does that
12:37typically tell you yeah i mean it just obviously it's not never a great sign but i will say this
12:44i've seen guys in the walking boot during the week and they've been able to play on sunday so i
12:50don't
12:50want to get too carried away with that but you know walking boots are never a good sign okay that's
12:55usually an indication of a high ankle sprain and those things linger for weeks so um not a great sign
13:02but again i've seen guys wear the boot during the week and then they're able to go on sunday
13:07and then they're right back in the boot uh the last player joel batonio did that uh uh i saw
13:14joel do
13:14that where he'd be in the boot during the week go on sunday and next time i'd see him on
13:20wednesday
13:20again boom he's back in the boot i don't know if carson's going to be able to do that but
13:24um i'm not
13:25you know i'm going to pull a todd munkin on you and i'm not going to rule anybody out for
13:28sunday
