00:39playbook with these guys I think Jorge's got to be really aggressive this opening moto the second
00:43moto here it is around the outside Prado looking for running room all over Hunter he goes from
00:49outside to inside Hunter cuts it off great ride by Hunter he's used to this we saw with Ken Rockson
00:55how good he was in supercross Hunter had a few times got it again though but then Prado shoots
01:01to the lead put the power down you can see that the urgency of Jorge he's probably sat behind Hunter
01:07real thinking that he might be able to get him later in the moto and I agree with JT he
01:11definitely
01:11saved something what he saved was a pass that was waiting to happen this second moto great start and
01:16you can see James he is trying to sprint now yeah he wants to be out front I mean is
01:21this one of the
01:22first times that we seen him out front in the motocross if not at least like this it has been
01:27yeah but it's got to feel like old habit because back in Europe where he won multiple titles this
01:31is where he did his best work from the front and that was the playbook and he executed it perfectly
01:36yes he did you can tell they put down some water on on the track some sections a little bit
01:42more
01:42another that last section was really slippery so Hunter Lawrence is a smart rider he's very patient
01:47he knows since it's a long race see how this company laps play out probably regroup and then
01:52he knows he's got a battle with the number 26. Third is Plessinger, Halfshire, then Webb,
01:59Pirandis battling 6th and 6th. Deegan is in 10th, Jet Lawrence is 8th so they're near each other again
02:06but not the starts they wanted. Yeah I think everybody especially if you're you know hey Deegan you're
02:12probably more aggressive trying to get up especially if you're close to that Jet Lawrence you don't want it
02:16to get comfortable you saw what happened that first photo but it's like uh Miranda's moved up
02:21I don't know if Cooper Webb went down and made a few mistakes but he definitely slipped down
02:25this battle look at this battle I'm gonna say that's going from Hampshire in fourth
02:30to Harrah back in 10th. They're all wheel to wheel right now. It looks like Cooper Webb made the pass
02:36I mean uh got passed by his teammate so just like that first photo hey Deegan, Jet Lawrence in the
02:42pack
02:42battle for 8th and 9th I believe same position yeah a little earlier and closer to the lead
02:49and Hunter Lawrence doing all he can to keep Prado in sight he knows what Prado wants to do
02:54he's not gonna let him break him and he's going right back after it look at this
03:00uh yeah it goes outside let's see if he can slingshot around there and one of the narratives with Jorge
03:06during Supercross he's very tough to pass we're gonna find that first hand the race craft I think
03:12it's more race craft than anything but he's in a position where he's leading and dictating the pace
03:17let's see what he does as he's gonna get passed back in the same spot how about that same area
03:23on the
03:23track Hunter gets him back Prado up the inside down and up Hunter Lawrence back in the lead JT
03:29well if Jorge Prado's defensive riding was a football team it'd be the 85 there like that's
03:35that's what he's bringing to the table and as soon as I say that Hunter made a move on him
03:38but I'm just
03:39telling you there's some things that are very difficult in life and then there's passing Jorge
03:43Prado but Hunter Lawrence just did just that yeah now it's Hunter's turn to try to get away go
03:47yeah well Jorge is 85 then Hunter is the greatest show on turf 2001 uh uh Rams or
03:54Kurt Warner Rams right there we got offense versus defense here offense winning it at the moment now
04:00let's see if Hunter can pull away bottom box Jett Lawrence going out there Sexton
04:06I mean normally when you're talking about Sexton and Jett Lawrence that's the battle for the moto win
04:10that's how deep the field is this year it's fifth and sixth yeah crazy go back a year for now
04:15your defending champion was Chase Sexton we thought he'd be the only one that might be able to beat Jett
04:20Lawrence after battling for seasons and now they're battling and um back in the pack but
04:25it shows you how deep it is but to me Jett Lawrence looks a little bit more aggressive this um
04:30in the
04:31opening few laps this photo than he did that second one and I don't know if he made a mistake

04:38I was talking to Lars Lindstrom team manager Honda HRC there James just to see if they had made any
04:43adjustments for Jett um you heard me in the ground the burn there talking about the adjustment they
04:48made on the clutch for the start but as far as the bike goes there was some suspension changes made
04:52said it was a little bit soft in that first moto and he did get arm pumped during that so
04:57they're
04:58just obviously trying to avoid that avoid that sort of fighting the bike and sitting back on it there
05:03just to try and give him a little bit more comfort you know give him that ability to be able
05:07to kind
05:07of push through and late into the moto now that actually makes sense and it's inspected when you think
05:12about our router who hasn't raced all year becoming soft as he almost loops out right there he hasn't been
05:18pushing his pace at all at home so it's not surprising he would come to a race pick up the
05:23pace and his bike be too soft looks a lot better um this second moto but then you got the
05:28the rotting
05:29partners coming off injury um RJ and then the cowboy Aaron Plessinger they're still right behind Jorge so
05:39yeah they're hanging in there actually Plessinger had the good start and as he's dealing with his buddy
05:45Hampshire they've got the 26 in sight and here's RJ doing what RJ does just fighting it with everything
05:50he's got yeah if anybody knows what RJ does you know he's um always going to be there but then
05:56you
05:56got this battle of Chase Sexton and Jet Lawrence coming up on these guys so I don't know about you
06:03Jason but I just since Chase looks a little bit better in this moto but also Jet as well they're
06:08close to uh second place right there you know one of the big questions I had this morning just running
06:13through my mind thinking about this is where would the Plessinger Hampshire types fit it oh no and down
06:19goes Sexton yeah tough break right there I mean they put some water down but why did it it's a
06:26small
06:26crash but for Chase I just know for him after that first moto top three it's a big crash just
06:32mentally
06:32for him he just seems like he can't get a ball uh get the ball rolling especially this year hopefully
06:38gets back up and keeps charging for it I think he'd have Miranda's and Deegan behind him when he picked
06:42it up see if he can get back up to pace and actually that would move Jet Lawrence to third
06:49overall but
06:49it's very early right now Plessinger and Hampshire are still battling and there's Jet
06:56that Jet can finish on the podium today if things stay the same and it would be his
07:00worst finish ever here at this race so podium's terrible terrible yeah but uh back to what I was
07:08saying with this field being so deep we talk about all the riders that have won titles in the 250
07:13or 450
07:14class outdoors and Plessinger does have one but I was wondering where would the likes of these two fit
07:20right in and honestly pretty darn well right now yeah I mean both these guys got talent you know
07:25that question I would be more concerned about Aaron how healthy he is and just with the thing with RJ
07:31you know you're going to get 100% no matter what it is so if he's in 10 he's in
07:3510 he's leading he's
07:36going to ride the same so for him he would be where he's at Aaron would be more the the
07:40wild card
07:41there but great to see him there uh especially coming off an injury and they're going to have their
07:46hands full with the 38. I think these all these guys are end up closing up um of course into
07:50this
07:50moto Deegan battling Miranda's this is the pro motocross debut for that bike the Tati Desmo
07:57Charlie designs in Red Bull Racing but Deegan's got to go and he makes the move yeah no Miranda's trying
08:06to get him back but Hayden's got it done yeah he got the power down but Ben John was saying
08:12earlier how
08:13when Hayden comes up and passes these guys like he's just going to get the best version of them
08:17like a champion um you can see uh aggressive Dylan what Dylan didn't want that pass to happen
08:22and they all want to beat him I mean at the end of the day you you know where this
08:26guy's going
08:27towards the future and there's a lot on the line for Dylan and the Ducati
08:33what's the name to hold him back there hey we've heard Malcolm Stewart your brother out of this photo
08:37not sure what happened actually just rode past our booth here on the motorcycle at least under his own
08:42power uh that's a bummer there for the 27. a lot of battling to watch as Jett continues to close

08:50Hampshire and Blesinger yeah I'll find out what's going on with Malcolm big J's on my flight tonight
08:55so he'll tell me all about it but yeah Jett lost a little bit of time that last laugh but

09:00made a mistake because he clearly was able to close in on RJ and hit him with the Jett effect

09:06RJ made a mistake it's good to see the number one run like this I can tell you looks a
09:11lot better than he did
09:12that first photo but we talked about he's been getting better all day long JT he has been getting
09:17better but I wonder what percentage you would put on Jet right now I'm gonna say 85 to 90 percent

09:23full Jet Warren's power right now he just he's not doing the magical type jet maneuvers on the racetrack
09:29I think he just looks a little tentative and that could be lack of riding that could be protecting
09:34his foot that could just be hey I can't make a big mistake and hurt myself here but I'd like
09:38to know your
09:38perspective on that Jameson he just yes he looks fine but Jet Lawrence is usually far from fine
09:44usually looks like one of the greatest riders I've ever seen yeah well he still looks like that
09:48to me and I think what it is is that yeah he might be a little bit faster if he
09:52was 100 you know
09:53attacking things but what it is is that how easy he usually makes it look you know where he's able
09:59to
09:59repeat these laps over and over and all day we've just seen it it looks hard for him to repeat
10:04to me
10:05the second moto and the end of that first moto he's starting to look to where he can ride this
10:09pace and obviously he's fast enough to close in on these guys so I think the rust is coming from
10:13they're selling he's lacking speed but lacking that the Jet Lawrence I can do this in my sleep kind of
10:20you know um you know action that he's he's gonna have to grow with and keep working on but he
10:26looks
10:26good to me certainly look good there as he closes in on Plessinger nice return running third for AP
10:34who had a hip injury in supercross just a rough supercross campaign for AP all together
10:41I talked to him yesterday he said yeah I got a few motos under my belt I don't think he's
10:46coming here in a
10:46full 100% fitness but he's riding well at least at the moment that's the good news the bad news
10:53since there's still 19 minutes and two laps to go yeah and you know AP he's like I've seen this
10:58scene before you know Jet Lawrence that's yeah lets him go sometimes it's a rider especially in AP
11:04position he doesn't want to hold him back and he kind of knows he's not 100% this guy's going
11:08so
11:09makes that pass a little easier um than maybe some other times but Jets moving towards the front
11:15and the next person is Jorge Prada about five seconds in front of him I don't know if he has
11:20anything
11:20for his older brother under Lawrence looks great but still great ride by him yeah last time around
11:27Prado's lap time was actually a little quicker than Jet Lawrence we'll see if it changes now that he's
11:32not in a battle and here's Jet talking about just being happy being back on the motorcycle
11:39yeah I can't wait um I've been telling my team all I want to do is just get to get
11:44on the bike just
11:44get me on the bike that's all I want to do like you know we always have all the media
11:47stuff and all
11:48that I'm just like I couldn't care less about that I just want to be on my happy in my
11:53happy
11:53place on my dirt bike you know that's where I have my most fun um I've had a lot of
11:57fun here obviously
11:57at parlor as well so I just can't wait to go out there and get the you know that adrenaline
12:03rushing
12:03again you know just don't get the same feeling when you're practicing to when you're racing so I'm just
12:09I'm just excited man I'm like a little kid that's really wanting to go race on the weekends as a
12:14as an amateur and stuff like that so I'm excited to get back out there in this race and have
12:19those
12:19have those first race like jitters again and stuff like that and I just honestly just can't wait
12:26Jet they're excited to go racing but as far as actually being on his motorcycle it was about
12:31nine weeks kind of post sort of getting back on it to this point and I think a lot of
12:37people including
12:37myself thought that meant a lot of outdoor testing and we know that translates not just for Jet
12:43but over to Hunter's bike as well because their setups are so similar but checking in with crew
12:48chief Grant Hutchison today today he said no that wasn't the case because they had to wait so long
12:53for Jet to sort of get back to pace after the injury but really that testing time didn't exist so
12:59he said
12:59what we're looking at for both the guys really is mostly post Salt Lake City which was just a few
13:05weeks
13:06back so incredible really to think that they're in this comfort point right that they are right now with the
13:11motorbike both Hunter running up front there and Jet in third with really just a few weeks
13:16prep and he reflected back to sort of this time last year and said to look back where we were
13:20then
13:20at the season opener and how far we've come and where we are now with the motorcycle he said that's
13:25just a night and day comparison yeah it is and and again as I said earlier when we're talking to
13:31JT
13:32so if you watch Jet Lawrence here and if you watched him in his past like what he does really
13:36good he's very patient he's very light on the motorcycle and what I noticed today is that he's
13:41sitting down a little bit more than normal a lot of these sections and where he's sitting down is
13:46anywhere where it's a lot of force on his lower body and you can tell like he's on the back
13:51he's
13:51over jumping things which tells me when he over jumps it you can see his body collapse so he's kind
13:57of
13:57protecting that foot again with this guy is dealing with a life career injury so
14:05um no mistake I mean not really harping on him but a lot of this is coming down for him
14:09just
14:10rust and learning how to be the new version of Jet Lawrence with this injury until he gets to go
14:15gets it back 100 percent
14:18the broken talus in his foot yeah that's expected to take they were thinking a year they knew they
14:25could take time off of it with all the rehab technology that they do have but this is a pretty
14:30tough sport every time you land one of these obstacles to deal with when I heard him say
14:35yesterday that it hurts when he's riding you know with his toes the ball the spoon of the foot peg
14:40and
14:40he lands and jump and I'm thinking well he's riding like that all the way around the race track that's
14:44a lot yeah it is and if you again you watch him off that tail top you can see him
14:50just uh squatting a
14:51little bit some of these areas were last year I think he'd be standing up and a lot of that's
14:55just
14:55from not riding lower body's got to build it but if you watch his body language um he's got better
15:00all day but anytime he gets in these really a lot of g-forces on his body you can see
15:06him kind of
15:07moving his body around and absorb that and that to me it's just going to take a little bit of
15:11time but
15:12this is the worst he's going to be and he's in third place then these guys are going to be
15:15in for
15:16a long summer maybe not him yeah exactly got a long way to go to get to hunter who's 10
15:21seconds
15:22up the road deegan makes work of r.j hampshire he's still digging at a lap or two ago the
15:29entire
15:29pace picked up everyone jumped into the two 18s deegan's still going for it fifth now fifth in moto one
15:38yeah i think this again good rod for uh hate and what he's going to end up doing is as
15:43learning
15:44how this 450 works out you know during the second motos because there's one thing you can have all
15:49this talent but just the bike and being at this level hayden's got to learn how to work on that
15:53his whole team so he'll get better with the motorcycle as well and put the spotlight here
15:58kyle webster on the quad lock honda team filling in for the injured joey sabachi multi-time chap of
16:05racing down in australia going to give him the rocky mountain atv a privateer profile hookup here
16:10it's good to see kyle races a couple of races in america a year because he's been a big part
16:16of
16:16the australian team along with the lawrences at the motocross of nations talked to him yesterday
16:22he admitted it's going to be tough against his field but he's riding well right now in 13th so
16:28hovering around that top 10. has run really good tell about how difficult this racetrack is and just
16:34going down that hill and that drone shot you can see his bike swapping uh back and forth and us
16:40normal folks you just want to you would think slow down and he can't so you have to almost pick
16:45up
16:45speed to bring that out and it's the opposite of what your body or your mind tells you to do
16:49but
16:49these guys are always dealing with these challenges and another challenge is this racetrack
16:55yes deegan that's the challenge towards blessing or now this would be for fourth sexton still back
17:03there at seven justin cooper great in moto one with third is back in eighth right now so we're looking
17:10at a lawrence prado lawrence overall podium today deegan would be fifth behind cooper but making some moves
17:18right now yeah i think aaron um eight's got to try to get around him if he does in the
17:24same place he
17:24made that pass on dylan because the number four kawasaki chase sexton is coming back up he can see those
17:31guys aaron's not not so fast young kid coming back but i think hayden should have the momentum and that
17:38inside line is um a little bit slower going in that corner so he's got him clear i'll put deegan
17:44into
17:45fourth in the moto and now would jump him to fourth overall ahead of justin cooper
17:53halfway through the moto reminder to stock up on monster energy at stater brothers
18:00yeah jet spot uh about six seven seconds in front of hayden hayden takes a peek you can see him
18:07but
18:09might be hard to run that number one down never count this dude out though oh you know he'd like
18:14to
18:14yeah and prado wasn't able to cover hunter lawrence in this one but jet has not really made up any
18:21time on him when he got to third so prado as expected a player today and you know he's thinking
18:27he's going to be a player in it all year yeah really impressed with uh you know all these guys
18:34but even
18:34hunter lawrence just running these two 18s consistently uh fastest guy on the racetrack
18:41holding all these guys at bay you got rj battling with plessinger again they've been battling all day
18:46and sexton is back closing the gap and rj quick move yeah good move by rj you can tell aaron
18:55being
18:56off pretty much most of this year it seems like definitely with a lot of injuries starting to stand
19:00up laboring a little bit easy to happen first motor of the year but coming off injuries tough for him
19:06chase is going to have to try to make this pass really quickly as he does on the inside
19:12all right yeah it's coming unraveled a bit almost understandable for plessinger
19:16not too much riding coming into the opener of pro motocross sexton trying to salvage something
19:23really hard to rate the day for sexton because of those two crashes who knows he could have been a
19:29podium
19:29position yeah but i i think chase can kind of salvage to dave he's able to make the pass on
19:35um rj it's
19:36not going to be where he wants to be at but he's getting a lot of info on the motorcycle
19:40give him a
19:40direction are we closed and he looks like he's aggressive but every time he's been in that spot
19:45he's kind of gone down so is that him or maybe the motorcycle but i love to see the number
19:50four
19:51moving forward it's very important and he gets only a few seconds up the track oh that could be a
19:55spicy
19:55one still 10 minutes and two laps to go as sexton makes that move on hampshire now let's flash you
20:04back to moto one while we have a moment here the one rider we expected to be in this battle
20:07that is
20:08not is the legend eli tomat the fourth time champ this is the first lap of the year left side
20:13of the
20:13screen yeah just a racing incident and the last time eli was on the racetrack in salt lake city
20:18something similar kind of happening that so uh tough break for him but more on eli let's go down
20:25the wheel thank you james well he did leave the facility here and he went for further evaluation
20:31and it was the neck area that they were looking at but x-ray showed that there are no broken
20:37bones
20:37which is obviously very good news but there is a neck strain um and they will be taking a further
20:42look
20:43at that this week so we'll get further evaluation this week thank you bill yeah that's the scary
20:49part right this is now three times have you seen tomac go down he crashed the whoops at the qualifying
20:54in cleveland supercross then the crash early in the night at salt lake city now this so they're starting
21:00to stack up there certainly hope for the best yeah rely yeah that's tough and and as you get older
21:07it's
21:08the healing the recovery part that maybe takes a little bit longer to compare it to where you're young but
21:12i like when we showed that camera you notice hunter lawrence his mechanic was smiling out there
21:16and he should be his rider looked great today making it look just like he did in supercross pretty easy
21:22still got you know almost nine minutes left plus two laps so far man the 96 strong performance
21:31i don't know for some reason it's always a little undervalued but i think everybody's just
21:35coming to realize this is who hunter lawrence is indoors outdoors hybrid tracks boat across the
21:42nations it's been a long time since this guy has not been up front on any type of track yeah
21:48i think
21:48i think you can look at that because of jet lawrence i think brother you know i mean it's hard
21:54you look
21:54at hunter lawrence i mean without his brother there he's got what three four championships especially
22:00um you know last couple years but it's hard to be in the shadow of your younger brother but because
22:05he
22:06was in the shadow and to to be out here fighting and never give up and to be supportive of
22:12your
22:12brother keep that family relationship and continue being better yourself that's this is what you're
22:18seeing and i'll go back and say what i said earlier no one has raised this version of hunter lawrence
22:24not
22:24even jet lawrence and if this is the version of hunter lawrence i don't know even healthy this guy's
22:30going to be hard to beat right now because he's only getting better you can see it start from supercross
22:35to here yep and it was getting much closer in pro motocross last year between them than it was the
22:40year before when hunter was a 450 rookie and then we saw the steps he took indoors he just keeps
22:46improving
22:46and he's looking to go 1-1 today i wouldn't quite say dominant fashion because prado's been close but he
22:52did top the qualifying sessions as well well it's about as close as you can come to a perfect day
22:58it is indeed and rookie seasons you just talked about it there jason a very they're very telling
23:05right when we look back at jets rookie season and it was clear that was clear first fastest
23:11qualifying goes 1-1 when we look at that rookie season you talked about and hunter there back in
23:152024 he was third fastest qualifier went two three for second and that was obviously against his
23:23brother so really we don't have to look very far to to find why hunter lawrence is as good as
23:30he is
23:31uh we just look at the stats but like you said it's kind of his brother and his incredible performances
23:35sometimes confuse that a little bit um but it's right there and it has been since 2024 when he was
23:41a
23:41rookie jt yes well and uh for more on that hunter lawrence story johnny i want to ask you about
23:47the days
23:48following that salt lake city round and i'm sure it was really hard to judge us for hunter but what
23:54went on in the first couple of weeks that we're trying to just get hunter back to zero back mentally
23:59back to normal before he can even start thinking about coming and winning here at fox raceway
24:05yeah that's a good way to put it i mean definitely uh you know we were so close but then
24:10uh kenny was a
24:10little bit better at the end and um yeah like it takes a while to get over that for sure
24:16i mean
24:16we don't sit there and dwell on it for a long time but but hunter's uh pretty tough on himself
24:22i'm a lot like that also so you know i don't have to scold him and say anything to him
24:27just kind of
24:27that down time 48 hours or so and then i think he waited about three days to get on his
24:34outdoor bike
24:35but it was pretty much already ready for him because jed has done a lot of the work for him
24:38outdoors
24:40great job and uh this is a heck of a way to bounce back
24:44yeah i had a chance to talk to johnny and even those guys and when you think having i think
24:49what
24:49helped hunter is one his brother coming back from injury even with hey deegan coming in there was a
24:54lot of hype so hunter um you know knew he kind of had to come out here but i think
24:59there was a lot of
24:59pressure that maybe wasn't on him because of what jet was coming back there was a lot of talk about
25:04him
25:05and hunter slots underneath that radar but even more than that i think having that extra week off
25:10um between supercross and motocross this year i think it eliminated to that um hangover effect
25:16that we kind of said from the supercross and it gives him time to kind of get over what he
25:21went
25:21through that heartbreaking supercross and he's back out here but again man you didn't you said you didn't
25:27want to say it but i'm gonna tell you right here this is a beat down this is okay this
25:32this race is i
25:33know it's only seven seconds but it's not even close this guy's in a whole different league of his own
25:38right now and if he needed to pull it out to 10 he could do it he's on he's on
25:43rails today
25:44and he did go right back after prado as soon as prado got him in this photo it did not
25:50take him long
25:51to regain control which maybe does show what he has under the hood if he needs it
25:57yeah yeah absolutely jt james i was just listening to you say that about the beat down and uh this
26:04looks scary easy for hunter orange right now uh i'm just watching you know kind of the way he's going
26:09like he's riding around and i know that sounds a little hyperbolic but i'm just telling you he is on
26:15full cruise control mode and he if he needed to pull it to 10 or 12 seconds right now no
26:19problem he
26:19can do it two outs yeah no it is and again if you look at his brother and even some
26:25of races
26:25hunters won i mean it's not like he's out there he's always wants to pull out to 30 seconds this
26:31is
26:31how they kind of win races they kind of keep it close but he can turn up the screws really
26:36easy and
26:38like i said i've seen this guy get better throughout the supercross season to where there
26:42was races that it looked just like this and yeah this race isn't even close or he's doing a great
26:48job but you'll watch this and understand he's got to pick it up um to attack that 96. there's the
26:54gap seven seconds now to prado on the red bull ktm jet now has it down to five seconds it's
27:02been a lot
27:02of work and for all of it he's made up about one maybe one and a half seconds in the
27:08last 10 15 minutes
27:10so prado showing some strength enough to hold jet from you can just see him back there really getting
27:16the hook at him yeah i think jorge the same thing kind of happened at first moto as we take
27:20a look
27:21at hey deegan um you know it's that rabbit hunter lawrence is gone so it's hard for chase um and
27:27speaking of chase yeah um you know chase sector i think it'd be a win if he's able to get
27:31around hey
27:31deegan but yeah jorge prada it's hard to race four and it's easy to see jet close in but maybe
27:38still
27:38think jorge probably overall better if he needed to he'll hold this thing on but at the end of the
27:43day
27:44still a great ride by him all three of these guys actually yeah prado 2.0 here much better in
27:49year
27:50two in america than last year last year was just around the top five of this race which actually
27:55seemed fine but it kind of went sideways from there back to this battle chase sexton digging
28:02and look most of the fire from deegan has been aimed squarely at jet lawrence but i cannot imagine
28:09that any of these proud guys that have won this title before like chase sexton
28:14are fans of the brash talk from the rookies so let's see if sexton can dig deep here i'm sure

28:20would be smiling under the helmet if he could make this happen yeah trust me chase wants to get to
28:25him it's whether he's set up he'll come through with the motorcycle to push that extra little bit
28:29but you know i don't think it's maybe chase is probably upset that deegan wasn't talking about him
28:35because he's like man i just won this championship i am the guy and it's almost like he's got replaced
28:40so he could get close to him he's going to want to beat him for a lot of different reasons
28:44but again
28:45i think it's important for chase to just mentally he wins this it'll be a somewhat of a silver lining

28:51this day if you can recover after two crashes knowing that he possibly could have been on the podium
28:56but was able to show that speed run down eight deegan and um you know finish that top five a
29:02lot of work
29:02with that motorcycle chase told me yesterday a lot better than where they were even just a few
29:07weeks ago with the outdoor testing they made some major changes to the bike but he kept cautioning
29:13that look it feels good at home but you never know until you go racing i would say overall a
29:18positive
29:18day speed wise for him with those crashes he is not giving up and deegan doesn't want to let him
29:23get
29:23it uh it isn't and you know you look at his teammate unfortunately garrett that first motor he got into
29:28it with eli but he's actually been riding really good and that's when you know uh kawasaki as a team
29:33has made improvements because garrett's nothing good today as well so does chase sexton and i know
29:39for chase this is like the worst position if you can't get around hayden you're that close you knew you
29:44had enough time to be able to get him and you couldn't it's tough you might as well just be
29:48like
29:48i either want to pass this dude or i don't even want to be close to where um it's like
29:52that carrot
29:52tangled in front of you he's a little bit quicker than deegan last lap around it looks like he's
29:58closed up a little more on this one but running out of time yeah made a mistake going down the
30:04hill
30:04and to me chase bikes little soft looks like a little off because you can tell when he starts
30:09pushing it you see he makes those mistakes as he's going down the hill but when he's
30:13open flat part of the racetracks where he can use his legs use his body he's able to close in
30:18on hay
30:18deegan so hard position to be in because you want to you have to pick up that pace to close
30:22that gap
30:23but when you do that it's easy to make a mistake and jason's trying
30:33two lap board is out clock expired for the leader hunter lawrence i wasn't sure if he was going to
30:38beat
30:38the clock or not he did not so it is two to go and sexton's still digging
30:46i think a lot of people james were worried they just anyone who wants to see this field continue
30:50to have these contenders in it wanted to see a good day from chase is this enough to see some
30:56positive
30:56signs yeah i i think so i mean the bike does look better i mean you got to build somewhere

31:02more racy to me than he did at um for most of the supercross usually if he went down he
31:08would just kind
31:08of fall back in the in the pack so to me he's having that charge i like that i know

31:15know he wants to win but man he's just got to find that silver lining you know it's not going

31:21well and payton deegan brought away from him it's not going to sit well but at the end of the
31:24day i think
31:25him and kawasaki got a lot to build on and both those guys are within the top 10. going to
31:30a place
31:30that remember what happened a couple years ago had one of the greatest rides ever coming 40th the first
31:36he's had some experience and some good times up in uh next week's race and hangs out yeah i think
31:41keep in the game keep improving that motorcycle would be great to have a summer with sexton doing
31:46sexton-like things but the ante is up with the improvement of hunter lawrence what supercross
31:53hangover what supercross heartbreak right back at it send a hello out there to ken rockson the new
32:00supercross champ maybe we'll get him back later in the summer for a pro motocross event but you know
32:05you'll see him back for the smx playoffs but hunter lawrence has it on lock today and what a bounce
32:13back it is we're not going to talk about that heartbreak he says that it still stings which
32:19is understandable but that is not going to be a storyline going forward yeah it's not and you
32:25know honestly i don't even know if it's a bounce back i don't know if hunter even believes in that
32:29because this is what i saw all supercross we've been witnessing it like this is more like hunter
32:34lawrence uh most of the year and uh just his his attitude his mindset i don't think he sees his
32:40bounce back he's back on track where he's belonged and um again it looks very easy to me watching him
32:49smile you're on camera camera bad dogging it you're right yeah we've seen that in the pit board a
32:56couple times the wins for hunter won a bunch in supercross and this will be the first 1-1 of
33:03his
33:03450 career he won the overall at ironman with a 2-2 in the past somehow it's only the second
33:10ever
33:10450 overall win for him although he's been on the podium it feels like just about every time
33:15he's lined up in 450 motocross yeah absolutely just going back to your point real quickly as we
33:22talked last year and hunter lawrence you know finished in second to his brother if i'm hunter
33:26when jet was healthy i was right there every weekend weekend week out almost one point from winning the
33:32next world title last couple years i'm better this year so i don't think he looks at it as like
33:39yeah
33:39i'm only winning because of jet i was close to beating him last year when he was fully healthy i'm
33:44better
33:45and this is the results you're seeing so hunter lawrence is on point today yep he is going to be
33:51one to reckon with no matter how much everyone else can improve you know they will but they got a

33:56way to go because he's got it up to over 10 seconds over prado now chent lawrence not giving up

34:01closing on prado down to the end here prado's been around the block time or two you gotta figure he's

34:07that under control though yeah it was at some point uh jet was closing and then jorge picked up the
34:14pace and stretched it out but he lost a lot of time in the last you know lap and a
34:18half so i don't know
34:19if that's lappers that he made a mistake i think he had him pretty um you know pretty covered at
34:24that
34:25point well hunter lawrence i sent him moto one the king of the left brain thinking very analytical
34:31logical unemotional about it that paid off in the face of some heartbreak in supercross
34:37he just focuses on process and lets the results unfold and today that process was perfect
34:44fastest in both qualifying sessions wins moto one and with even bigger lead here in moto two
34:50he's able to cruise it on home
34:55hunter lawrence he's the man today a much hyped opener not enough talk about him but he's got all
35:02the headlines now one one and look at this battle jet lawrence gets to the rear wheel of morge prado
35:10right at the end and chase sexton getting to the rear wheel of deegan these guys want it they they
35:17want
35:18it you know what i like to see from jet lawrence i like that aggressive tear off pull
35:22he was mad because that means he's feeling back more like jet law he don't like to lose good start
35:27already not satisfied with third yeah i mean in this case i mean he's struggling today right yeah yeah by
35:33those standards
