00:01all right hey everybody shanks here and i'm here to do a review for you guys today on the lego

00:07i guess speed champions back to the future delorean um from obviously back to the future one

00:13and two there are no parts from or that allow you to adapt it for the delorean from back to

00:20the future three which is a little bit of a shame is literally all they would need

00:24it's just the thing for the front here um but yeah so i got this from target when i went

00:32earlier

00:33um right i was gonna check the price i think it was like

00:41it's 27.99 currently you may be able to get it for cheaper elsewhere but yeah i was just basically

00:48checking it out and there's a bunch of different ones that you can get but i wanted to get this

00:52because for one i'm a big back to the future fan it's genuinely like one of the first i think

00:58like

00:58film series i got into as a kid um when i we were randomly me my brother and our babysitter

01:05were

01:05randomly like i think channel surfing and the first movie was on amc it was part way through

01:10after marty gets transported back to 1955 contacts doc and it was the scene specifically where marty

01:20um goes to uh or goes with doc to where he has the delorean so they can get it and

01:27bring it back to

01:27doc's house and everything and figure out how to get him back to 1985 and everything and yeah and i

01:35i

01:35just really love the trilogy and everything uh back to the future 2 in my opinion is just really great

01:40i even like it more in a lot of places than um the first movie so yeah and that was

01:49i think not a

01:51popular opinion for a while but then has i think it changed after 2015 came and went and people grew

01:56a new appreciation for how they did stuff in back to the future 2 there are flaws with the movie

02:02i'm

02:02not saying that or i'm not not saying that it's just that i i appreciate a lot more of the

02:07aspects of

02:08two than the first movie but the first movie is still amazing so yeah and then the third movie is

02:15good it's just i don't think it's as good as the first two but it's still a fun time so

02:20yeah but uh

02:23yeah so i'm also gonna do a um comparison with the big version that was released a few years ago

02:31that a

02:32friend bought me and i also did a video on after i got it so you guys can go watch

02:38that if you want

02:40it is on the channel somewhere so yeah um and i did construct this already so the box is open

02:46so i'm not

02:46really going to show you guys like the pieces and everything this did take a little bit to

02:52put together maybe an hour or less it's a lot simpler and easier to put together than the bigger

02:59version i think the bigger version is more for collectors and uh teens and adults versus the other

03:05one which i think is more geared towards kids but also people who maybe have a stricter budget

03:10or want something smaller than the bigger version but yeah but there are advantages to getting both

03:16and i will say those or and i will let you guys know what those are so yeah so let's

03:21look at the

03:22box here so um yeah so you got the lego speed champions logo rated or is for ages nine and

03:29up

03:29time machine from back to the future and everything um one of two builders build together 357 pieces it

03:37also comes with extra pieces like a lot of everything else so that um mainly just the smaller pieces so

03:43that if you lose something you have an extra for it just so it can be constructed and also um

03:51change between the two modes that you can put it in so yeah so then you got the back to

03:57the future

03:57logo here you have um a picture of it right here a render with doc and marty although granted maybe

04:04this is an i think this is an actual product picture as opposed to a render but yeah and uh

04:11they have doc

04:11and marty in this position which is funny because i don't think they ever have it like that in any

04:19of

04:19the movies which is funny because like whenever marty's traveling with doc in the delorean it's

04:25always doc driving um anytime marty drives it it's by himself so yeah it's funny that they don't have

04:34a sequence in any of the three movies where marty's the one um driving it with doc and they're

04:42though they did make up for that in the game from 2015 or no no the game was made in

04:472010 so yeah

04:50then re-released in 2015 for consoles and pc so yeah as well as partially re-dubbed with

04:57toniceth wilson reprising his world with biff so yeah um so yes we have that um so on the bottom

05:04here

05:05pretty much just legal information this has a side view of this one-on-one picture of the

05:11tire in terms of size and on the back you have a way to convert it to the back to

05:17the future 2

05:18version which this is more the back to the future 1 version you can tell because the uh the plutonium

05:25chamber it has that thing from the first one where doc loads in the plutonium and then the um

05:33uh thing that feeds into the uh the flux capacitor to get the um lightning to travel through

05:41it so yeah but in this this recreates sort of the image from the end of the first movie and

05:49the

05:49beginning of the second where they the deluring converts into a flying version and um they take

05:56off and everything although this is more set on an actual like road in like on like a back road

06:03somewhere as opposed to in the middle of the suburb neighborhood that marty lives in for hill hill

06:10though no line of states i think is actually what's what it's called so yeah so then right here you

06:16have

06:16the two modes you can put it in um and on the inside you got details like the time display

06:24plutonium

06:25chamber stuff i think that's no i don't think that's supposed to be the speedometer but yeah

06:30you have doc driving it so yeah then right here too you have a nice aerial view of the thing

06:40so yeah

06:41so to uh show this off you get the instruction manual on how to uh build the thing which is

06:52pretty

06:52comprehensive and everything but it's also pretty easy to put together uh you have this but then you

06:58have uh pictures of other car things that you have in lego you have back to the future sports cars

07:04uh

07:05racing cars and then lightning mcqueen from the movie cars which is actually pretty cool i didn't know

07:12about that and you have a uh a uh picture of the actual thing and then a screenshot from the

07:19movie

07:20uh from when einstein was traveling or go part of the uh that's the time experiment that doc was

07:29running to make sure it worked so yeah and show marty how it works and everything so yeah um you

07:36can

07:36tell because like this is a shot where everything's moving and you can see einstein right there he's just

07:41really blurred um i think because of the motion and everything that the dog was doing during that

07:48so yeah and then you got all that then you got i think yeah just a list of the pieces

07:55that are in this and then let's see different modes and everything so yeah so we have that and then

08:03i

08:03just uh i have two of the smaller bags with the extra pieces that you get these are the extra

08:10pieces

08:10that you need for the flying mode and the different license plates and the plutonium chamber and the

08:17wrench that it shows doc using and then here um i should just draw you this because that's all i

08:28got in

08:28here but these are all the extra pieces in case if you need any extras for whatever reason so

08:36yeah um and then you got this which goes into the flips capacitors the lightning rod that 1955 doc puts

08:46on the delorean so yeah um then you have the stickers which go on different parts of it so

08:59yeah um that are pretty easy to apply um oh yeah so then here we go with the thing itself

09:09like i said i put

09:11it together before doing this video and i put it to i put it in its back to the future

09:162 configuration

09:17because that's the version of the thing that i like the most out of the three so yeah i put

09:24that

09:24in the wrong position but yeah so i do like the amount of detail that this has um despite being

09:32so small it genuinely just looks like a model version of the car put into lego form maybe shrunk a

09:40little

09:40bit but yeah um and it's it's pretty it's pretty solid it's pretty stable and everything so yeah so

09:46yeah all the details dmc this is which is delorean motor cars i think something like that um which

09:54yeah it's a the sticker's a little bit crooked because i couldn't really put it right some of

09:59the stickers are a little bit crooked where i put them on um because unfortunately that's just how

10:06it goes sometimes and yeah this one is pretty straight for the most part side ones uh vary but the

10:14front one yeah it's a little bit crooked but i'm not going to fix it because the adhesive on the

10:18stickers is not that great um if you peel them off once you get something like this where you have

10:25this and then it's running forever i accidentally put this on upside down as well because um i thought

10:32this part was supposed to go the other way um but nope so yeah um so i fixed that but

10:41yeah the other

10:43things on turn in terms of this have just uh the detailing printed on them mainly these blue

10:50um pieces these translucent blue pieces and everything they have the details printed onto

10:55them so i don't understand why they couldn't just print the detail onto the parts where the stickers

11:00go but that's just me um so yeah and then you have the mr fusion thing right there i i

11:07do like the

11:08joke that um that they put in where by 2015 they would convert um like regular license plates in

11:16the barcodes that's hilarious to me um and yeah i just find that really funny so yeah so inside you

11:25got doc and marty which are based on the back to the future one versions of them mainly from well

11:32yeah actually um from before doc goes to the future and everything the only other way to get

11:39these versions of the minifigures were to get the um the versions of the minifigures that came with

11:45lego dimensions so i'm very glad that they did a wider re-release of these for the people that wanted

11:51them and everything and this is one of the uh benefits to getting both of these because the

11:58giant version of the delorean that you can get for over a hundred dollars uh only comes with the

12:04versions of marty and doc from back to the future 2 um so yeah um so we got that and

12:13the cool thing

12:13about marty is that uh you take off the head and the vest is completely removable and he has all

12:23the

12:23detailing of his jean jacket and everything from the first movie um if you remember if you guys or if

12:30you guys don't remember i guess uh the first part of the movie from before marty goes back to 1955

12:36or

12:36actually before he meets up with doc um he's only wearing a jean jacket um in the first like

12:43i think third of the movie or something like i said it's before he goes back in time

12:48um so yeah they also have like reversible heads that show different emotions

12:57just to show this right here is more serious stern face

13:07um this is

13:12frustrating okay and then a more confident and smiling face and then put them on right there

13:22and uh yeah you just have marty from the beginning of the first movie which is really cool

13:30um yeah but if you want him with the vest on which he wears i i just realized this he

13:36wears this because

13:37he goes to meet up with doc at night so it makes sense he would have a vest on over

13:45his jean jacket

13:46to keep himself warm so yeah uh so we have doc right here which he looks pretty good all the

13:55detailing from slapco right there the stopwatch which is really cool um and then turn his face around

14:05you have a more worried face which this looks more like doc from the 50s um but you don't have

14:14an

14:14alternate outfit of one of his looks from the 50s so it's a bit of an anachronism um because in

14:22the 80s

14:23he doesn't really have a uh worried expression that has the uh the bandages on his head so

14:35yeah um one of the things i think they could have done better with uh the um designing of the

14:42smaller delorean is making a thing for the gullwing doors to flip up as opposed to having to take off

14:49the roof of the car um yeah one of the things i think it has an advantage of over the

14:56larger version

14:57is the fact that the seats just look like regular seats but they also have these uh the pegs i

15:04guess

15:04that they have so you can actually sit them in the uh in the seats of the of the car

15:13because

15:13the larger version doesn't have that so let me bring that in right here so we have the larger

15:19version here i did an entire video on it reviewing it so i'm not doing that right now

15:25uh this is not a review of this this is just more of a comparison this is a larger version

15:29of this

15:29that they released first that um costs over 100 bucks but i think it's actually worth the money

15:36mainly if you are a fan of back to the future or even just the time machine from it i

15:40think it's

15:41pretty good again i got a friend got it for me um so yeah i think for my birthday a

15:48few years ago so

15:49yeah um so that was actually pretty good it's obviously more detailed and everything um

15:56so yeah and i have it in his back to the future 2 configuration it does come with parts to

16:01make it

16:01the back to the future 3 version if you would prefer but it does not come with versions of marty

16:07or doc

16:08from back to the future uh one or three which i think is a shame um but yeah and then

16:18you got doc and

16:19marty from here for some reason they did not include a version of the hat marty wears which

16:23is the hat that his son wears in 2015 i don't understand why um i also don't think that there's

16:31a version of the hoverboard unless if there isn't i'm just forgetting i did not want to dig out the

16:35uh

16:36the box for this because i have all the extra pieces in that so yeah um but yeah these are

16:43based

16:43on the 20 or the versions of them who go to 2015 and everything um so yeah and likewise they

16:50also

16:50have um heads or reversible heads that have different expressions on them i think marty's is

17:00literally the same uh yeah basically exactly the same in terms of the head and the hair but

17:09obviously the outfits are different so you know it's actually funny because they use they use more

17:16of a pink shade granted um well yeah pink shade of his shirt underneath the jacket i think to

17:23differentiate it from the jacket uh the the color red is more of like this um which is something you

17:31don't necessarily notice because of the fact that he wears like three layers at the beginning of the

17:36movie for some reason and at the beginning when he's in the 50s and then towards the end of the

17:41movie um but he has a jean jack actually now four layers technically he has a vest he has a

17:47he has the

17:47jean jacket he has a um i'm trying to remember like basically just a button-up shirt and then

17:55a red shirt underneath that in the first movie in southern california in i think september or

18:04october of 1985 like i think that's a little overkill but yeah so yeah and then you have the

18:13the jeans for this and these are supposed to be like the same jeans in universe so yeah they're not

18:21the same exact shade of blue but they're pretty close and then marty also has like uh outturned pot

18:27or inside out pockets because of how fashion is in 2015 scene in back to the future 2 and then

18:33uh

18:33the version of him that came with the bigger delorean has uh detailing for his boots mainly on the sides

18:40but yeah um that's actually really cool the little details

18:48but yeah um so yeah that's that's pretty pretty good uh keep thing keep certain things the same

18:58change others doc is obviously very different between the two different outfit similar face but

19:06obviously yeah his reversible head on the back to the future 2 version has the sunglasses that he wears

19:14when driving the delorean because i guess he got like a camera or something installed on the back of

19:21the delorean so he can prop so he can like see out the back through that while also remaining also

19:29paying attention so this is the reversible head or actually is it actually i don't think we're back

19:35back to the future one doc it is um but yeah so you got the different heads these are almost

19:43the

19:43exact same expression i think the eyebrows are different um and yeah the mouth on the back to

19:51the future 2 version is a little bit more open but they're basic they're almost exactly the same

19:58accidentally dropped them on the floor very professional you can tell but yeah um but same like hair

20:06piece same basic uh mold or design for the head that is trying to look like christopher lloyd from the

20:16movies so yeah um something i didn't notice readily is the back of his lab coat or not lab coat

20:28the

20:28radiation suit is pretty good i also just didn't notice he has tools on the back i was thinking in

20:34the nuclear uh symbol and everything uh that's actually really cool so yeah so basically um if you

20:43wanted you can then if you have both of these or at the very least the minifigures that they come

20:49with

20:50you can then put um marty and doc in the larger version here set them in the seats if you

21:02can

21:03i don't understand why these just don't use pegs but whatever um

21:12and

21:15you can easily just transform or turn this into the back to the future one

21:20variants of the car and just use the two versions of the minifigures that come with this one

21:28or the smaller one for this which is really cool but then you can also take the ones from

21:41the bigger version and use them in the smaller version of the car

21:52you gotta get these two in specific things um yes that's actually really cool so you can like mix and

22:03match if you have both um so in terms of i guess which ones maybe i recommend more than

22:12or which ones i or how to recommend these if you have the money and you want the bigger version

22:19as like a display piece which is mainly what it is honestly i would say get the bigger version

22:26yeah if you have the money and everything but if you don't have a ton of money

22:30and you just want one version of these i would say get the smaller version is more compact it's more

22:38readily like i think uh available for most people it has the versions of doc and marty

22:47that you may want like i wanted the variation of marty i want or i wanted these two variations of

22:54the

22:54characters definitely but i didn't want to shell out the money for the uh lego dimensions sets that

23:00they came with um so this is actually really good plus uh you get to build a smaller version of

23:06the

23:06car um so yeah cons for the smaller version of the car is the stickers that you have to put

23:12on i think

23:12the bigger version you have to put on some stickers as well but i think most of the detailing was

23:16printed onto it um the gullwing door is not being like directly designed for the smaller version of

23:24the car and everything the bigger the bigger version obviously allows for more of that

23:29customizability there's less detail on the smaller version of the car but at the same time it looks

23:34fine it literally just looks like like i said a model version of the car from the movie but um

23:41like just turned into lego that is basically what it is and i've had um i've had like model versions

23:50of the car in the past and trust me this looks very much like it's just not the same scale

23:56those

23:56were a little bit bigger but yeah on top of that the bigger version is more for adults and collectors

24:02and fans of the movie the smaller version while being for fans of the movie is more readily

24:07fine for children um so yeah like it on the box it says nine plus so if you have a

24:14child that likes lego

24:16and they like back to the future you can go ahead and go get them that version um if you

24:24can i would

24:25also i would also just recommend both i am very surprised that the bigger version does not come with

24:32um minifigures for doc and marty from back to the future one and three um and everything uh i wouldn't

24:42expect like all their main outfits um but um i would have expected the bigger version to come with

24:49um these two other minifigures from back to the future one and their main like end of the movie

24:57outfits from back to the future three maybe also with clara um but yeah maybe also with jennifer

25:05uh she would probably be very easy to have um in it but yeah so yeah um the the the

25:14biggest con i

25:15think with the big version of the car is the fact that the seats don't you can probably replace parts

25:21of

25:21them with these but they don't have the pegs to readily like uh sit the minifigures inside and

25:30keep them um like sturdy i guess in there or um whatever but yeah so it's just mainly a thing

25:41of

25:41your preference the money you want to or you're willing to spend on these and which one you just

25:47want um so yeah but there are advantages to getting both so yeah uh the the thing as well

25:55with the bigger version is i don't think it comes with marty's hoverboard i don't understand why

25:59and um it doesn't come with the hat that marty wears at the beginning when he's in 2015 that his

26:07son

26:07also wears i do not understand that at all um but yeah you can't even really use this version of

26:14marty for his son either um mainly because of the hat thing but also uh if you ever notice while

26:20watching the movie his son has a white shirt on whereas marty has a red shirt on under the jacket

26:27which is the biggest difference between the two on top of that like it looks like uh marty jr's jacket

26:32is like partially broken because the slaves don't like to stay retracted but yeah um but that's

26:40basically it there's a couple minor differences as well between them but that's basically the

26:45biggest one i think is the shirt color but yeah so yeah that was like the biggest bit of confusion

26:51for me with getting the big version of the delorean is the fact that we have back to the future

26:56to

26:56marty but we don't have the uh like multi-color like um rainbow hat with the um gradient the

27:08gradients um changing the color depending on what angle you're looking at which i actually

27:14right i actually have this right here this is what it is this is a like kind of prop replica

27:20hat that i

27:21got at universal studios a while ago um so yeah um so yeah i don't i don't know it's a

27:30bit of a

27:34what you want so yeah so uh uh yeah i don't really have much else to say on this so

27:41um yeah
