00:00I want to play this Tom Havestro clip from Yahoo Sports where he talks about not adding LeBron or
00:06Giannis, but LeBron and Giannis. I could see a scenario in which they call up the Milwaukee
00:13Bucks and say, hey, will Evan Mobley and a first round pick do it to get Giannis and Adekupo? And
00:20then you turn around and you say, LeBron, you could come back home for a farewell tour and try
00:25or try to win a championship in the Eastern Conference like you did before with the
00:29Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat and have an easier road now that you got Giannis and you've
00:34got Donovan Mitchell in tow with James Harden to kind of hold a lot of those innings in the regular
00:41season. And then LeBron, James and Giannis and Adekupo have won championships before can take
00:45the lead in the postseason. So I do think that the Cavs could end this offseason with not just LeBron,
00:52but Giannis and Adekupo in a trade for Evan Mobley. And I think LeBron James would want to do that
00:58if
00:58he sees this as his final stop, the Cavs could end up with both Giannis and LeBron James this
01:03summer. It'll take some gymnastics on the cap, but I do think that the Cavs fans can look at that
01:07as
01:07best case scenario. All right. So we can get into this. I do just want to point out that when
01:12I say
01:13Giannis, LeBron, Donovan Mitchell, and James Harden, I get a lot of 2012, 2013 Brooklyn Nets vibes. It
01:21doesn't mean that's automatically how it would go. A lot of names, but when nobody's really thinking
01:27about how the hell do these guys fit together, how do they share the basketball or like, how do you
01:33put a team around them? Because it's not like, you know, are you going to do the Miami Heat thing
01:38where you just get like 10 guys and a vet men? I don't know how it works because it almost
01:43feels
01:44like a Team USA type deal where it's like, all right, we're just going to throw as much talent
01:47as we can. And if it doesn't all fit, it doesn't all fit, but there's going to be so much
01:50talent
01:50in the court. That's how we're going to try to win. Yeah. And my, my kids, listen, if you do
01:55not
01:55play in Lithuania, if you do for a year and it doesn't work out, I'm sure you can then turn
01:58around Giannis and get value. I'm sure you could turn around and move Donovan if you, if you got
02:03there. Right. Uh, so it's not like this is a bridge to nowhere. It does feel like, like I, I,
02:09I don't
02:10expect one of either LeBron or Giannis to come here this summer, let alone both. Yeah. I mean,
02:16I'm at the spot now where I'm, I'm expecting neither. Uh, and it's like, I, if you give me one
02:20of them,
02:20I'm, if you made me choose which one I think it would be, I would think it would end up
02:24being LeBron more so than it'd be Giannis. I think it's, I think it goes zero. You get
02:29none. Then it goes, you get LeBron and then it goes Giannis. I've just, I really, it's not
02:33that I've soured on the idea of Giannis. I would still make the trade. I would do it. I just
02:36don't think Giannis is going to come here. I think that's the, he's got a lot of other
02:40suitors. He's got a lot of the other, other teams that are after him. And I don't know
02:43that you're going to get the assurances with one year left on his deal that he's going
02:46to sign some sort of mega extension with you. I just think Brett Siegel said something
02:50really interesting of clutch points NBA reporter at three today with us, he said, uh, if you
02:56offered Mobley for Giannis, the deal is a done deal. And I just, I thought that was really
03:01interesting. Like there has been some reporting around that, like the idea that that would
03:05be a done deal and maybe Brett initially doing it himself, but like it's, what do you find
03:10interesting about that? Well, no, I mean, I just think the idea that, uh, that, cause that
03:14to me means at some point the Cavs could say, all right, maybe we have thought about this
03:18enough, let's go ahead and offer Mobley for Giannis and just get this done.
03:21Well, initially remember at the deadline, that is what the Cavs were apparently dangling
03:25out there. And like the, the deal that everyone had discussed or some, something along those
03:28lines. And it's like, I, you could have done this at the deadline if that was going to be
03:32the price. Now, uh, I just, I just, I just have a hard time thinking it's going to actually
03:36happen. 216-474-0092. Here is, uh, uh, Kobe Altman today talking about, uh, Evan Mobley
03:44trade rumors and Evan Mobley's, uh, you know, situation in Cleveland.
03:48Evan Mobley? Yeah. Um, yeah. I mean, that is part of our future. I, I, I, I don't, I
03:54know what you mean by. Well, because all these Evan for Giannis. Not going to speculate on
04:00any players outside these walls. All I can tell you is since Evan's been here, we've had
04:05the third best record in the league for five years, third best record in the league. Now
04:10we don't have a championship to show for that yet, but all Evan has done is impacted winning.
04:14He's been remarkable for us in terms of our ascent, right? The last five years, a huge part
04:18of what we do five years in 24 years old. We are very fortunate to have drafted Evan
04:25Mobley. It's easy to knock someone down. We're in the weeds. We can point to this. We can point
04:28to that. He's a franchise caliber player and we're very fortunate to have him. I mean, come
04:33on now. No, no, no. We keep, I was going to say there, Jeff, if you're listening, love
04:38the mustache to love that follow-up there. I'm happy you were applauding Shadelle. Cause
04:43I thought you're going to applaud Kobe. Cause I was going to say, I could, I could probably
04:46run back any end of season press conferences since Evan's been here where he offers up
04:50that same line of thinking. Oh no, no, no. This is very consistent. And it's like he, he,
04:55Evan Mobley is going to be on his deathbed and Kobe Altman will be like, I think we can
04:58squeeze some potential out of this guy. So I think when, uh, Kobe Altman says Donovan's
05:03our guy unequivocally Donovan's our guy, uh, without hesitation, I think that's something
05:09you can take to the bank. I think there's a reason that Kobe started stammering there
05:13and then asked and kind of threw it back in Jeff. And then by the time Jeff threw the
05:17question back at him, he kind of caught himself. I think that was a very stock answer out of
05:22Kobe, which shouldn't have been blindsiding you by any, any stretch of the measurement.
05:25Like if it's like, you're going to get asked about Evan Mobley in an end of season press
05:28conference. I think he was still in the middle of, uh, rap, uh, you know, poetic rapping about,
05:33uh, Donovan though. Got blindsided by a different player. If you're getting, if you're getting
05:40blindsided by Evan Mobley, we need to, we need to do some readjustment here. I think that's
05:45a good point by the way, uh, for Cleve TA saying if, uh, if Weems gets elevated to the Cavs
05:50GM spot, uh, the potential for, uh, LeBron coming back to Cleveland, the plot would certainly
05:56thicken there. That's what my buddy Nick Fink made yesterday on Twitter as well. Uh, that
05:59idea of like, well, wait, what's the connection? You Cleve TA. Fink had it first. He did have
06:03it first. Uh, what's that connection between we, uh, Weems and LeBron? Like it's obvious.
06:07And so like, yes, that is as something that, uh, yeah, I, Nick pointed out yesterday for sure.
06:13Uh, 216-474-0092 is adding Giannis and LeBron, the best case scenario, uh, for this, this summer
06:21for the Cavaliers, uh, LeBron coming off the, I want to get paid a lot of money. That would
06:25be the best case scenario. I don't think it's going to happen. I don't, I don't, I don't
06:28see a scenario and I see more and more people being like, Oh, it's greedy that he doesn't
06:33take anything, but the vet men he needs it. It's like, guys, that's not how LeBron operates.
06:36And I just think he's been such a steward for you can't take less money. You have to maximize
06:42as players what you get that even him taking half of what of 54 million, let's say, I think
06:48he's going to be something like a hard pill for him to swallow. I just don't see a world
06:52that he takes 3 million. So 3 million. No, the middle level exception mid-level is on the
06:57table, but that's on the table, but you got to get below that second. But I even, even
07:02still with all that, I just, cause again, no one asked Steph Curry to take a pay cut.
07:06No one asked Kevin Durant to take a pay cut. If I'm LeBron, I got to look at some of
07:10this
07:10stuff and be like, I, after the year he had last year, but none of those guys have
07:13the limited options that LeBron. No, they got to play on a bad team is the point. And
07:17so LeBron, and that's maybe why LeBron would end up going to a team like Golden State is
07:22if he just feels like I need to make as much money as I can and I deserve to make
07:26as much
07:26money as I can. And I shouldn't have to take any of these pay cuts. The trade-off here
07:29if you go for Cleveland is that you, you take less money, but in the process you do get
07:34to have your storybook. And so it's just trying to figure out how much of a storybook ending
07:37he wants. We got BP and Pepper Pike. BP, welcome to the show, buddy.
07:42Hey guys. I unfortunately listened to that Kobe Altman propaganda. You know, to me, it's
07:49like this guy is a snake oil salesman. It's like, I mean, it's always like, oh, we're really
07:54doing well. We're one, you know, one inch away from the championship. I mean, everything
07:58is kumbaya. I mean, it's like, it's like you guys said, I mean, he does the same press
08:03conference every year after we're, after we're disappointed. It's just, I mean, in fairness,
08:08it is kind of his gig like that. Like if you're, if, if, if you're coming out of this
08:13and you didn't fire Kenny Atkinson, you're, you're clearly not planning on huge shakeups
08:17unless something falls your way. You kind of got to sell the job, right?
08:22Yeah. I mean, in my opinion, like nobody wants to kill the golden goose, you know, you know,
08:27everybody, it's like the NBA, everybody's making huge money, you know, from Dan Gilbert
08:31down. So it's like, Hey, we made the final four. That's it. But meanwhile, you know, in
08:36my opinion, you know, we were non-competitive against the Knicks. You know, you had a window
08:41where the Celtics weren't there. Indiana Pacers weren't there. You know, it's like, well, so
08:46how, how is this getting better? How are we progressing? That's what I'd like to know. I
08:50mean, I don't think enough tough questions were asked to be honest. Oh, going after the
08:54reporters. Now Shadell was there and you know, Shadell likes to jam them up. Yeah. I mean,
08:59Jeff Shadell is an old timer. I mean, he's, uh, I'm surprised they didn't have Greg Brenda
09:03there or, or, or Jeff Sindel are, but you don't even know those guys probably. I won.
09:09Yeah. Occasionally Greg bitches that I talked to much Browns, uh, on Twitter. Uh, it's of
09:15course I know him. Uh, and I'm sure he was there by the way. I feel like I see him
09:19at
09:19everything. However, the point is Shadell's an old hand. Come on. Man's
09:25experienced. He's weathered the storm. Kind of left us in a lurch there. Uh, I
09:30don't, I don't really disagree with what BP said. I also just think that's Kobe's
09:34job. They just can't do anything right now. Like I'd love to, hard question is
09:38what, uh, I think BP, uh, suggested something along the lines of like, how are
09:42you going to make this roster better? And I made BP yell when he said it,
09:45obviously he's at the press conference. How are you going to make this
09:47sound old? What are you going to do about the roster? Like what is he going to do?
09:52It's two days in. We're not even at any sort of time when you can do anything
09:56realistically. Cause the NBA finals is still going or not even going on yet.
09:59We're still in the conference finals for the West. Like, like you can only do so
10:02much right now. And so I, it's a great thing in, I don't know, three months to be
10:07able to be like the Cavs did nothing. Very fair, a hundred percent fair, but we are
10:12just at the start of this half of what Kobe said was lip service. The other half, I
10:16don't believe. Uh, and that's totally what his job was today. It doesn't mean I
10:20enjoyed it, but I get it. I, you, you can't, both of those things can line up
10:24with each other right there. I mean, the fact that he gave us nothing really
10:28inflammatory to even talk about means he did his job well today. Oh, I think Dan
10:32Gilbert would agree.
