00:03Did the Muslims in West Bengal pull an UNO reverse against the BJP government's beef ban?
00:08Then Tenet might think so. On May 13, the state government issued a notice that implemented a
00:12ban on the slaughter of cattle including cows below the age of 14. Ahead of Bakreed,
00:17the notice came out as a hit to those wanting to buy cattle but then came this.
00:41The new rules have reduced the number of cattle available in the market. Sellers must also
00:45obtain a fitness certificate from a government veterinary officer and then there were these
00:49don't buy beef appeals. According to reports like these cattle markets in parts of West Bengal are
00:54lying largely empty with cattle bearers bearing the brunt of the impact. Many had reportedly taken
00:59loans to purchase cattle in the first place. Soon, Swami Avi Mukteswaranand came up with GOLX.
01:04OLX but for cows. Avi Mukteswaranand said, if any Hindu wants to sell their cow,
01:09they should sell it to us. We will not allow cows to be slaughtered nor permit cow slaughterers to
01:14purchase them. The feasibility of GOLX however remains to be tested. Any violation of the West
01:19Bengal Animal Slaughter Control Act can land one in jail for six months. This lack of supply has short
01:24beef prices from Rs. 280 to around 600 per kg according to reports. But what do you
01:29think about it? Tell us in the comments below.
