00:00What happened on May 12, the night Tusha Sharma died?
00:03That is now one of the biggest questions investigators are trying to answer in the CBI probe.
00:09According to husband Samarth Singh's statement to investigators, the day started out completely
00:14normal. He told the CBI that the couple had dinner together, took a walk inside their residential
00:19society and later watched television at home. Samarth claimed that he eventually went to sleep,
00:25while Tusha went downstairs to speak with her family over the phone.
00:28Later that night, he says his mother woke him up after receiving a call from Tusha's mother,
00:33who was worried because Tusha was not answering her phone. Samarth told investigators that he and
00:39his mother then searched the house and allegedly found Tusha hanging on the terrace. He claimed
00:44they immediately brought her down, attempted CPR and rushed her to Ames, Phopal, where doctors
00:50declared her dead. But the questions did not end there. The CBI is now also questioning Samarth
00:55about the days after the incident, when he allegedly went into hiding. During interrogation,
01:00Samarth reportedly admitted that he stayed in Jamalpur for more than a week and deliberately
01:05avoided using his mobile phone to prevent police from tracing him. The CBI is now trying to determine
01:10who helped and sheltered him while he was absconding. However, sources say Samarth has
01:15so far refused to reveal any names. Meanwhile, Tusha's family has accused Samarth Singh and his mother
01:21Giribala Singh of dowry harassment, physical and mental abuse and tampering with evidence. Police
01:26had earlier registered a case under sections related to dowry death, cruelty and common intention.
01:31The Supreme Court, which took Suomoto cognizance of the matter, observed that the death of a young
01:36woman was a matter of serious concern and stressed that the truth must emerge through a transparent investigation.
