00:00:15Thank you all
00:00:50Hi, my name is Bob, I'm an alcoholic
00:00:52Bye, bye Bob
00:00:55Hi, I'm Joe, I'm an alcoholic
00:01:04Hi, my name is Julie and I'm an alcoholic.
00:01:07Hi Julie
00:01:08And my name is Mitch and I'm an alcoholic
00:01:11Hi Mitch
00:01:13Hi, I'm Peter and I'm an alcoholic.
00:01:15Hi Peter
00:01:17My name is Hartwell, a chronic alcoholic with a passion for tranquilizers.
00:01:23Hi, my name is Jack and I'm an alcoholic from Vermont.
00:01:26This is my first meeting at Sidewinder.
00:01:28Welcome everyone
00:01:38And so little Millie ran into the garden to play with her white kitten
00:01:47He's a nice little boy
00:01:49He is very smart
00:01:52And from what I've seen, he's also a healthy boy.
00:01:55Yes?
00:01:55I will consult with my colleagues but I still stand by my opinion, madam.
00:02:00We wish we were all that lucky
00:02:03She has no idea how happy she is to hear him say that.
00:02:06Well, if I think that you will have to remain confined to overlock all winter I understand.
00:02:12We're waiting for the results of the blood tests before we celebrate though.
00:02:16Regarding his great fear
00:02:18I see no signs of epilepsy here
00:02:21I guess he expected it since he had done the flash test in Vermont
00:02:24Plus the series of both true with negative outcome
00:02:26I wasn't sure
00:02:29He put a lot of effort into reading, didn't he?
00:02:32Trying too hard perhaps
00:02:34Yes, that's right.
00:02:36Between us, he has the grit of a college student despite being a seven-year-old.
00:02:41As for his invisible friend
00:02:45He calls him Tony, which incidentally is the name of his stuffed dog.
00:02:49I suspect that the invisible Tony was really a friend
00:02:52Until you left Vermont, right?
00:02:54Yes, exactly.
00:02:55Mrs. Torrance, this is just a hypothesis.
00:02:57Maybe it's presumptuous of me, but...
00:03:01I suspect there has been a good deal of stress in the family recently
00:03:05You can tell by the way Danny talks about his father and by the way his eyes follow her throughout
00:03:09the room
00:03:10Tony helped him cope with this stress and perhaps also the feeling of loneliness.
00:03:18You know, Doctor, Danny is also convinced that Tony can make him see the future.
00:03:23And sometimes, well...
00:03:26How did Danny break his arm?
00:03:37It wasn't him
00:03:42Excuse me, it was...
00:03:45It was his father
00:03:46Jack didn't mean to hurt him, but...
00:03:54He was drunk
00:03:59How is it now?
00:04:01Well, Jack's not here with me, because it's an AA meeting.
00:04:06He's trying to go there as much as possible
00:04:09Before...
00:04:10Before the snow comes, then he'll send them away on the phone and...
00:04:13With food and on the radio
00:04:16How long has your husband not had a drink?
00:04:20For about five months now
00:04:23Did you ever hit her, Mrs. Torres?
00:04:24Oh God, no
00:04:25Never
00:04:27And how does he behave with Danny now?
00:04:32Things...
00:04:33Things are going well now
00:04:35Between the two of them
00:04:37And with her?
00:04:39Are things going well with her?
00:04:44Well, let's say they go...
00:04:46Good
00:04:48They could be better, but they're going in the right direction.
00:04:53My husband is a wonderful man, doctor.
00:04:55And I love her very much
00:04:57And is the family getting stronger?
00:04:59I think so, doctor.
00:05:00We're trying to move on
00:05:04Well, Danny is a perceptive kid.
00:05:06He understood that things were not going well
00:05:09So he needed Tony to help him get by.
00:05:13Now he knows that things are better
00:05:15Tony can exit the scene
00:05:17She thinks he's trying to make Tony unpopular.
00:05:21To get rid of him?
00:05:23Well, this is a strategy that imaginative kids adopt.
00:05:31I don't want to rush you, Mrs. Torrance.
00:05:33But the other patient has been waiting for me for ten minutes
00:05:35Oh, I'm sorry
00:05:36And the injections?
00:05:39They are already practically healed, there is no problem
00:05:43Thank you
00:05:45Come on!
00:05:48Louder!
00:05:50Come on, louder, mommy!
00:06:17Okay
00:06:19Okay
00:06:29Ah, again
00:06:43Let's go
00:06:44Oh, I'm sorry
00:07:16Ah, too many clever people.
00:07:25Oh, interesting.
00:07:44My scrapbook.
00:08:06Horace Durwent is pleased to invite her to a masquerade ball.
00:08:19My irref draggedi memory group.
00:08:20A dark masquerade ball.
00:08:22I exist!
00:08:25Tec!
00:08:42My name of memories of memories...
00:08:56But...
00:09:30My God, what a state he looked like!
00:09:44Here is there?
00:09:51Here is there?
00:10:14Is there anyone over there?
00:10:17For heaven's sake, no!
00:10:30Is there anyone over there?
00:10:34Give me the axe!
00:10:46Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you.
00:10:50Were you the ones who knocked the chairs off the table?
00:11:14Gangster murdered in Colorado hotel.
00:11:48Room service!
00:11:50Oh God, no!
00:11:52No, please!
00:11:53No!
00:11:54No!
00:11:55No!
00:11:58No!
00:12:00No!
00:12:01No!
00:12:02No!
00:12:02No!
00:12:04No!
00:12:04No!

00:12:51Come with me.
00:12:53Come with us!
00:12:55Come with us.

00:12:59Can you hear me!
00:13:00Enough!
00:13:01Stop it!
00:13:03Danny, Danny, it's snowing
00:13:08Danny
00:13:12Are you feeling well?
00:13:14Yes, well or not
00:13:15Did you look out the window?
00:13:18Have you seen what's happening out there?
00:13:20Come on, come and see
00:13:21It is snowing
00:13:24Do you want to make a snowman?
00:13:26Sure, fantastic
00:13:28Let's go call dad too
00:13:30Okay, let's go call dad
00:13:38Ah, dad
00:13:40I abhorred the fire of the snows
00:13:44It's finally here
00:14:12Okay, let's go call dad
00:14:31Danny
00:14:38Mom
00:14:41Mom
00:14:47Mom
00:15:02Mom
00:15:10Mom
00:15:12Danny
00:15:12Danny, let's play
00:15:13You come
00:15:17Mom
00:15:18Mom
00:15:19Mom
00:15:20Mom
00:15:21Mom
00:15:23Mom
00:15:29Mom
00:15:53Mom
00:16:14Come play Danny
00:16:19Fero, what are you doing here Doc?
00:16:23I'll show you that I'm not afraid
00:16:24But you're afraid, you should be afraid
00:16:27Oh Lauren said that...
00:16:29He said nothing here can hurt me
00:16:31They are like pictures in a book
00:16:32Look, Doc, if you give them a chance to be something more...
00:16:35I can come in if I want
00:16:36Go away and leave me alone
00:16:58Come on in Danny
00:17:02Come on, come in
00:17:43Come on, come in
00:18:13Come on, come in
00:18:19Courage Danny
00:18:20Take it
00:18:22Take it Danny
00:18:52Take it Danny
00:19:22Take it Danny
00:19:29Courage, Danny
00:19:31After you
00:19:31Look
00:19:34You come
00:19:36Danny
00:19:37Go away now, don't do it
00:19:39Don't let it overwhelm your mind, Danny.
00:19:40Did you understand?
00:19:46Danny
00:19:46Danny
00:19:51Nothing can hurt me
00:19:53They're like pictures in a book
00:19:55If I don't let him into my mind
00:19:59Danny, where are you? Help me!
00:20:06One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten
00:20:16It's just a fire hydrant, stupid.
00:20:47At that time
00:20:54Danny, what are you doing?
00:20:57Nothing, Dad.
00:20:58Nothing, Dad.
00:21:03This is Mr. Holman's office.
00:21:06And what are you doing in Mr. Holman's office?
00:21:10Did you play with the radio?
00:21:14No, Dad.
00:21:16Do you swear?
00:21:18I swear.
00:21:19I hope so for you, Doc.
00:21:22Because if the phone lines go down,
00:21:25This is the only means of communication we have to call for help.
00:21:30The only way.
00:21:32Roads west of Boulder remain dangerous due to patches of live ice.
00:21:36The use of chains is mandatory.
00:21:40Tell me, what are you hiding behind your back?
00:21:43Nothing, Dad.
00:21:46Did you say nothing?
00:21:52Let me see.
00:22:03You shouldn't be in this wing.
00:22:06You shouldn't have this.
00:22:08And you shouldn't enter any of the guest rooms.
00:22:16But I have to give you credit, Doc.
00:22:20You're really good at breaking the rules.
00:22:24You're certainly not wasting your time.
00:22:27But Dad, I didn't enter the room.
00:22:29I was about to do it, but then I changed my mind.
00:22:34Dad, I didn't want to.
00:22:36Please.
00:22:38Be quiet for a moment.
00:22:41I have to think.
00:22:44You have a headache, Dad.
00:22:50Already.
00:22:52It's the strongest I've had since I've been...
00:22:58It's the strongest I've had in a while.
00:23:03But that's not what worries me.
00:23:07The problem is...
00:23:12What should I do?
00:23:15to a disobedient boy
00:23:17that he cannot respect
00:23:19two simple rules?
00:23:21What should I do to make you remember them?
00:23:25Can you hurt me, dad?
00:23:28Like last time.
00:23:31Oh, no.
00:23:33Of course not.
00:23:34No, Danny.
00:23:36No.
00:23:38I couldn't hurt you.
00:23:42I will never lay my hands on you again.
00:23:49But...
00:23:50You can't break the rules.
00:23:53Do you understand me?
00:23:53But, dad, I didn't come in.
00:23:55Shut up.
00:23:57If you lie, you only make things worse.
00:24:00We must behave like men.
00:24:02And men follow the rules.
00:24:05You don't play with CB radio.
00:24:07you don't enter
00:24:09where you were forbidden
00:24:10enter
00:24:11in the basement,
00:24:13in the guest rooms,
00:24:14in this office.
00:24:16Is that clear?
00:24:18Dad, I didn't come in...
00:24:19The men
00:24:21they follow the rules.
00:24:25In you, yes.
00:24:28All right, Dad.
00:24:31Bravo.
00:24:44Everything is fine?
00:24:47Yes.
00:24:48Dad will come soon to give you a kiss
00:24:50and wish you goodnight.
00:24:51He's still working on his play.
00:24:53No, that's not true.
00:24:55He's down in the basement
00:24:56to browse again
00:24:57those old newspapers.
00:24:59That place scares me a lot.
00:25:01You've been in the basement, Danny.
00:25:03Because I don't want you to go there.
00:25:05There are mice
00:25:06and God only knows what else.
00:25:07No, I've never been there.
00:25:09Dad forbade me to go there.
00:25:11It's a rule
00:25:12and men follow the rules.
00:25:15I just know.
00:25:20Sometimes he can see
00:25:22what he sees, right?
00:25:28Now he's looking at newspaper clippings.
00:25:31They are very interested in them.
00:25:33He hasn't been working lately
00:25:35to his comedy.
00:25:37What do you mean?
00:25:38who no longer works in comedy?
00:25:40Of course he works there.
00:25:41That's why we're here.
00:25:43You know how important it is
00:25:44for him to finish it?
00:25:45Now it isn't anymore.
00:25:47Dad decided to write
00:25:48a book about the overlook.
00:25:50He knows this will send
00:25:52Uncle Al is furious,
00:25:53but he doesn't care.
00:25:58Danny,
00:26:00you think it would be better
00:26:01if we left the overlook now
00:26:04before the snow blocks us here.
00:26:06Tell me the truth.
00:26:08What do you think?
00:26:10What do you see, darling?
00:26:13I think we need to stay.
00:26:14after all, this is dad's job.
00:26:17He committed to taking care
00:26:18of the overlook
00:26:19and he must take care of us too.
00:26:22But is your dad okay?
00:26:24At least try.
00:26:26He loves us very much
00:26:27and I love him too.
00:26:30And you, mom?
00:26:32Sometimes he thinks not,
00:26:35but you love him.
00:26:37It is not true?
00:26:38Of course I love him, Danny.
00:26:39But in our case
00:26:40love has nothing to do with it.
00:26:42I want to ask you something.
00:26:48Do you know if dad started drinking again?
00:26:50Do you know?
00:26:52No.
00:26:54But I feel like he's thinking about it
00:26:56some time.
00:26:57I hear it said
00:26:58woh,
00:26:59now I would like to
00:27:00a nice cold beer.
00:27:02Anyway no,
00:27:03he doesn't drink.
00:27:04Well,
00:27:05it's better that way.
00:27:14Don't forget the kiss for Tony.
00:27:20You haven't spoken anymore
00:27:21of the other Tony
00:27:22these days.
00:27:22How come?
00:27:23He doesn't come anymore
00:27:24so often to visit you.
00:27:26No,
00:27:28Tony must have stayed in Bolder
00:27:30and anyway
00:27:31he is not a true friend,
00:27:32he's just an invisible friend.
00:27:34That's what he said
00:27:35also Dr. Edmonds,
00:27:36but
00:27:37I'm not so sure about that.
00:27:39Danny!
00:27:49What's the matter with you?
00:27:51There's Mr. Scary
00:27:52around the corner?
00:27:54Mamina,
00:27:55it was just a joke
00:27:56and you fell for it
00:27:57like a pear.
00:27:58Ah, ah, ah.
00:27:59Under the covers.
00:28:01It's time to sleep,
00:28:02witty.
00:28:09Mommy.
00:28:10Yes?
00:28:12What is a red room?
00:28:14Red room?
00:28:16No,
00:28:17drum,
00:28:17room.
00:28:18Red room.
00:28:19I do not know.
00:28:21It seems like the favorite drink
00:28:23of a pirate.
00:28:24Why?
00:28:25It was just a word
00:28:27that I heard say
00:28:28on TV.
00:28:29Ah.
00:28:30Well,
00:28:30at least this
00:28:31we made it clear.
00:28:32Already.
00:28:33I'll send you dad
00:28:34if I see it
00:28:34before you fall asleep,
00:28:35agree?
00:28:36All right.
00:28:37Sweet dreams.
00:28:42Nice shot.
00:28:43Come here
00:28:43to take the medicine.
00:28:45Nice shot.
00:28:465-6-7-8-9-10-9-10-1-8.
00:28:49You come
00:28:50or-
00:28:50Yes.
00:28:54Yes.
00:29:06Yes.
00:29:08Yes.
00:29:08Yes.
00:29:11No.
00:29:13Yes.
00:29:31Oh, Danny, Danny!
00:29:36How many times do I have to tell you?
00:29:46It's incredible.
00:29:48Oh, and milk too.
00:29:54Yeah, we need to have a nice chat, the two of us.
00:30:24Delivery boy, please.
00:30:29You know it?
00:30:30Your son came back down here to play.
00:30:33I have a pocket full of toy soldiers he left lying around here.
00:30:36Eh, it's not over.
00:30:41Do you see this glass?
00:30:42Yes.
00:30:43Well, it was on the line.
00:30:45Half full, on the arm of a sofa that is worth perhaps more than I have earned in all my
00:30:50years of teaching.
00:30:51Jack, honey, I don't know exactly how to explain this to you, but Danny is only seven years old.
00:30:57Sometimes seven-year-olds forget the rules.
00:31:01Then one of us would do well to remind him, don't you think?
00:31:07I'll do it, okay?
00:31:09Well.
00:31:13The thaw has begun.
00:31:16On the radio they said it might be the last for a while.
00:31:22It feels like the whole world is melting.
00:31:27It's beautiful, isn't it?
00:31:31It's like we're in a cave behind a waterfall.
00:31:44Aren't you coming to bed?
00:31:48In a little while.
00:31:49I have something for you that you won't find in any of those boxes, if you want it.
00:31:58Maybe later, okay?
00:32:00Maybe later?
00:32:01What do you mean?
00:32:03Wendy, I'm just trying to do the job I'm paid to do, that's all.
00:32:08For a few weeks now, it seems like the only thing you're interested in are these boxes.
00:32:12Besides, I'm asking Danny and I if we leave even the slightest trace of disorder in the hotel.
00:32:18And so...
00:32:21Maybe I need some attention too.
00:32:26What are you talking about?
00:32:28You're not attracted to me anymore, love.
00:32:31You once desired me, except...
00:32:35Except when I was drinking.
00:32:39Well, I didn't mean to say that.
00:32:40But I don't drink now.
00:32:41I know, but not everything that comes out of my mouth on the subject is an accusation.
00:32:45So what are you talking about?
00:32:47What do you think I'm talking about, Jack?
00:32:53Danny has been asleep for almost an hour now.
00:32:57And I want to go to bed with you.
00:33:00Not to sleep, that's the last thing on my mind now.
00:33:05And if you want to find out what I have in mind to do,
00:33:08all you have to do is follow me.
00:33:15I'll join you in a few minutes, okay?
00:33:18I promise you.
00:33:22Okay, I'm going.
00:33:28That's true, Jack.
00:33:30You don't drink anymore, but all your old drinking habits have reappeared.
00:33:33If the overlook has this effect on you, then coming here was a bad idea.
00:33:37This place has no influence on me, Wendy.
00:33:40I'm interested in the newspapers I found in the basement.
00:33:42That's all.
00:33:44I was checking him out.
00:33:53Danny says you've stopped working on the play, Jack.
00:33:56It is true?
00:33:58And yet you told me that after Danny and me, your comedy was the most important thing in your life.
00:34:04And so Danny walked into my office.
00:34:07That little pigeon-noser got his hands on my papers.
00:34:10Do you hear what you're saying? Now you sound like your father.
00:34:12What return?
00:34:13You know, you talk about how my father used to talk. He died six years before I met you.
00:34:16I know because I listen to you, Jack. Look at you.
00:34:19It doesn't pull anymore, you rub your hand over your mouth like you did back home in Vermont.
00:34:23You chew aspirin like you do when you're suffering from hangovers.
00:34:25I suffer from migraines. I always have terrible headaches.
00:34:29Very strong.
00:34:30And the stress.
00:34:35Stress is the reason you don't want to make love to me anymore.
00:34:52The thaw is expected to last from tonight until tomorrow night.
00:34:56We could reach Highway 50 if we use the snowcat.
00:34:59From there it's only 23 miles to Sidewinder.
00:35:02I think we should go, Jack.
00:35:04Because this place isn't good for either of us.
00:35:08Sometimes I see Danny coming down the stairs with his face as white as a sheet.
00:35:13You should avoid going up to the guest room floor.
00:35:16I'm not talking about the damn guest rooms.
00:35:19He never entered because you forbade him from the beginning.
00:35:23I'm saying that sometimes he comes back from the garden with the same face.
00:35:27That is, pale and with an air...
00:35:30A dazed look, almost as if he were scared.
00:35:34I think he still has the visions.
00:35:37And you're hesitant to talk about it because you're terrified that you might lose your job.
00:35:41Do you know who else is afraid of what might happen to us if I lose my job?
00:35:45The undersigned.
00:35:47I can already see us all ending up in California, maybe picking grapes and lettuce.
00:35:51alongside all the illegal immigrants who came from Mexico.
00:35:54Danny won't have to go to high school to learn Spanish.
00:35:56Convenient for him.
00:35:57There's nothing wrong with making ridiculous speeches.
00:35:59Oh, the golden girl who always had 20 dollars in her pocket spoke
00:36:02in homage to his adoring and possessive mother.
00:36:04Do you want to go home?
00:36:05Do you want to go home now and tell her what happened here?
00:36:08That in short your husband has missed his last chance
00:36:11because his son has visions every now and then...
00:36:13Now you are being unfair and you know it well.
00:36:15The situation is unfair.
00:36:19But if you give me a hand, like Danny has done so far,
00:36:23we'll get by.
00:36:27I hate this place now.
00:36:33What happened to us, Jack?
00:36:36We didn't have much when we were in Boulder, but...
00:36:42we were quite happy.
00:36:45Do you remember?
00:36:54We have to leave this place.
00:36:57I can't tell you why, but I feel like it's better this way.
00:37:00Wendy.
00:37:04Listen, darling.
00:37:07Listen.
00:37:11I know I've messed up my life lately.
00:37:15Really?
00:37:18With drinking, my temper, George Hatfield.
00:37:25When I broke Danny's arm,
00:37:29believe me, when I heard him scream,
00:37:31I saw the way he held his arm.
00:37:34I, well, I just wanted...
00:37:36I swear, I just wanted to hold him down by the wrist
00:37:39and turn him over to give him a sound spanking.
00:37:42That's all, really.
00:37:51Really.
00:37:55There are two ways out of this story, Wendy.
00:38:01With a recommendation
00:38:03that he can give me back a high school chair
00:38:06and maybe the first draft of a possibly publishable book.
00:38:12or
00:38:12go around the shopping malls
00:38:15to beg for work in exchange for food.
00:38:17Now I understand that it may seem exaggerated,
00:38:18but it could happen.
00:38:23AND
00:38:24there is the law of compensation.
00:38:35The story
00:38:39enclosed in these boxes
00:38:41what is written between the lines
00:38:43And...
00:38:45you can't imagine it, Wendy.
00:38:47The hotel guest registers,
00:38:49the names
00:38:49Ginar,
00:38:51Joy Gallo,
00:38:52Lana Turner,
00:38:53Johnny Stompanato,
00:38:54Robert Vesco.
00:38:56You know what, sometimes
00:38:58I have
00:39:00the impression that
00:39:02they are all still here,
00:39:05that they never left the hotel
00:39:07and of
00:39:09almost being able to see them.
00:39:12I know,
00:39:13and that's what scares me.
00:39:16I feel it was my destiny to come here,
00:39:19that somehow my whole life was leading this way.
00:39:24You understand?
00:39:31Wendy.
00:39:36Wendy.
00:39:40It's just for the winter.
00:39:44You and Danny,
00:39:46please, I beg you,
00:39:47try to be patient with me
00:39:48and I swear to you
00:39:49that you won't regret it.
00:40:11okay, Jack.
00:40:25Kisses and big kisses.
00:40:27That's what I was missing.
00:40:31Do you still want to go to bed?
00:40:34What do you think?
00:40:49I love you, Jack.
00:40:51I love you too.
00:41:03I love you, Jack.
00:41:03Yes.
00:41:50Tremble, little ones, tremble.
00:41:54Yes, the evil giant has come to devour you in your beds.
00:42:00Say goodbye to your five stars, you miserable people.
00:42:04Work, work.
00:42:27A little bit of light doesn't hurt.
00:42:30A little bit of light doesn't hurt.
00:43:04Look at the jokes the little boy is playing.
00:43:07It scared me.
00:43:13A little bit of light doesn't hurt.
00:43:41No, no, no, no, they're just hallucinations.
00:43:45No, I just need an AA meeting and a prayer for Jack.
00:43:53May God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.
00:43:57And what?
00:43:58How do I continue then?
00:44:12Hi, Jack.
00:44:37They don't move.
00:44:39Why are you looking at them?
00:44:43And what can I do for you?
00:45:07And what can I do for you?
00:45:26I am tired.
00:45:30I am tired.
00:45:32I am tired.
00:45:36I am tired.
00:45:37Tired.
00:45:38Very tired.
00:45:42Nothing happened.
00:45:45Nothing happened.
00:46:24According to Ron Allen's predictions, Santa Claus will have no trouble finding landing zones when he arrives in a few days.
00:46:30day will come in the Colorado highlands.
00:46:32Ron says it will cloud over after midnight and that 10 cm of snow is expected by tomorrow morning.
00:46:38Speaking of tomorrow, the forecasted 30-35 cm of fresh snow along with strong winds will cause storms that will hit
00:46:45the area from Grilly to Sidewinder.
00:47:03Brothers, join the sober members of Alcoholics Anonymous and you will find salvation.
00:47:11You will be cleansed, purified and then shout hallelujah.
00:47:19All you have to do is stay away from that stuff.
00:47:29One day at a time, drink your coffee and then smoke your cigarette.
00:47:38Have faith and then do not seek each other.
00:47:44Stop with that nonsense.
00:47:51Dad!
00:47:57But...
00:47:59Forgive me, maybe the question may seem stupid, but...
00:48:02But you...
00:48:05You are not dead.
00:48:07Death here at the Overlook has no meaning, didn't you know?
00:48:11You're still the same stupid guy, aren't you?
00:48:14Real?
00:48:15Answer me!
00:48:18Yes!
00:48:23I think so.
00:48:26I've been feeling pretty stupid a lot of the time lately.
00:48:33You are silly and weak, Jackie.
00:48:35You still have a lost puppy, but I've always had a special eye for you and I still do.
00:48:40So listen to me carefully, because a certain little person that you know
00:48:45She's back to snoop around in a place she shouldn't be.
00:48:50Yes.
00:48:55Yes.
00:48:56Yes.
00:49:04Yes.
00:49:09Yes.
00:49:11Yes.
00:49:13Yes.
00:49:14Yes.
00:49:25Yes.
00:49:31Yes.
00:49:32Yes.
00:49:35Yes.
00:49:37Yes.
00:49:37Yes.
00:49:38Yes.
00:49:52Yes.
00:49:56Yes.
00:49:58Yes.
00:50:18Yes.
00:50:35Yes.
00:50:37Yes.
00:50:46Yes.
00:50:47You're dead.
00:50:48And I don't have to listen to you.
00:50:51So shut up.
00:50:52Shut up.
00:50:54Shut up.
00:50:55Shut up.
00:50:55You are dead.
00:50:57You're dead, dad, you don't want to talk!
00:51:10What's happening to me?
00:51:26Join us, Danny
00:51:28No
00:51:29Yes, Danny
00:51:31Yes
00:51:59Here you are
00:52:01Look, Danny
00:52:02Look, Danny
00:52:04Yes
00:52:05Come see, Danny
00:52:07Come on in
00:52:09Come on, Danny
00:52:10There's nothing here that can hurt me
00:52:12They're like pictures in a book
00:52:21In the old farm
00:52:26Oh, oh, oh
00:52:28How many beastiotopias
00:52:34Oh, oh, oh
00:52:38There is the cow mu
00:52:47There is the cow mu
00:52:50Mu
00:52:51Mu
00:52:52Cow
00:52:59One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten
00:53:10There's nothing there
00:53:12There's nothing there
00:53:13There is nothing
00:53:14There's nothing there
00:53:18There's nothing there
00:53:21There is nothing
00:53:22There is nothing
00:53:35There is a child, a beautiful child
00:53:44You know, I was waiting for you
00:53:49We've all been waiting for you
00:54:01Yes, I was waiting for you
00:54:341, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
00:54:37It doesn't exist, it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist
00:54:57It doesn't exist, it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist
00:55:14It doesn't exist, it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist,
00:55:25does not exist, does not exist, does not exist, does not exist, does not exist, does not exist, does not exist, does not exist, does not exist,
00:55:25it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist, it doesn't exist
00:55:41Danny
00:55:55Danny
00:55:58I hope you didn't go into that room
00:56:05Danny
00:56:10Danny, come down now, come on
00:56:14Come out, watch out I'm getting angry
00:56:21Danny
00:56:24Get down now, you damned nosy brat!
00:56:29Danny
00:56:30Get down immediately, otherwise I'll double the beating, okay?
00:56:36I'm starting to lose my patience
00:56:40Did you understand what I said?
00:56:41You come running
00:56:44This is your last chance
00:56:46Alright Danny, you asked for it.
00:56:52Jack, what are you doing?
00:56:55Your son broke the transmitter and smashed it with a croquet mallet.
00:57:00This, also one of the master keys is missing
00:57:03It's his on the second floor now
00:57:04And God only knows what he did up there.
00:57:07How many times have I told him he can't go?
00:57:09For God's sake Wendy, I'm the guardian
00:57:12I'm the one in charge here
00:57:13There is that give it to me
00:57:14Get out of here
00:57:14Please give it to me
00:57:19Let's discuss this calmly and as adults, okay?
00:57:22Well
00:57:23So, are you sure the transceiver is broken?
00:57:26Oh, he tore it apart and now we're isolated
00:57:29Danny, get your ass down here
00:57:31What makes you wonder who he was?
00:57:33What do you mean?
00:57:34Did you break it?
00:57:34No, I didn't mean that.
00:57:36I have not been
00:57:36I stayed in the cellar all afternoon
00:57:38And it certainly wasn't the rats.
00:57:40Danny!
00:57:41Please try to keep calm
00:57:44Regardless of what Danny did
00:57:48Let me handle this, okay?
00:57:51No, I won't let you...
00:57:53Danny, look, I'm warning you
00:57:53Danny, come here right now.
00:57:56Danny
00:58:02You filthy bastard
00:58:03You filthy bastard
00:58:04Wait, I didn't do anything
00:58:05Danny
00:58:05And Danny, talk to me baby
00:58:07Tell me what happened
00:58:08And tell mom what happened
00:58:09Danny, who was it?
00:58:10Who reduced you?
00:58:11Thus he speaks
00:58:11Don't try to touch it
00:58:12If you dare touch it again
00:58:13I'll wait for you to fall asleep
00:58:14And then I'll kill you
00:58:16Wendy, I swear to God
00:58:17That I don't even have
00:58:18I'm tired of hearing you swear to God
00:58:20I'm tired of all your promises
00:58:22To turn the page
00:58:23You saw that your precious radio was broken
00:58:25And you ran to take it out on Danny
00:58:26Breaking the arm wasn't enough
00:58:28This time it's not true, Jack
00:58:30This time break the arm
00:58:32Your son was not enough
00:58:34It's not true for you
00:58:35Look, I haven't seen him all afternoon.
00:58:37Danny, speak up
00:58:38He's crucifying me, son.
00:58:40Come on, forward
00:58:41Tell her how it went
00:58:42Tell her, please
00:58:43Tell mom how it went
00:58:45Danny, please
00:59:13Tell her, please
00:59:35Like a good Danny, let's sing a Christmas song together.
00:59:49Don't bother, it's broken
00:59:52It was working this morning, but now it's broken, I just tried it
01:00:14There's a storm coming
01:00:28I don't know what's going on, Wendy
01:00:30But I swear to you that I didn't touch it.
01:00:33Well, as someone said recently, it wasn't me, Jack.
01:00:36And it certainly wasn't the rats.
01:01:00You have... your shirt is wet, why is your shirt wet?
01:01:06And what is this?
01:01:08What?
01:01:15I think it's lipstick
01:01:18It's not my color
01:01:20Don't go away Danny, we have to get the iron
01:01:27Dad, dad it was her, dad it was her, it was her
01:01:33Danny, who are you talking about?
01:01:35Wendy
01:01:37Jack, you don't think I...
01:01:40Wendy
01:01:40Jack, I was in this room drawing, I fell asleep, your screams woke me up
01:01:44You'll never get to...
01:01:46I know you would never do that
01:01:48But it's not nice to be accused, is it?
01:01:55Come on, let's go get a drink
01:02:22Ah, here it is.
01:02:31Done, keep it
01:02:32Drink it all, be careful, it's hot.
01:02:36Hot chocolate with whipped cream on top
01:02:38Yeah, I know you like it
01:02:44So darling
01:02:49Who has you...
01:02:52Who got lipstick on you, Doc?
01:02:58And tell me about the... the bruises
01:03:00Who gave you those bruises on your neck?
01:03:01Did you get them up on the second floor?
01:03:03I didn't want to take the key yet, I swear
01:03:06I wanted to keep my promise
01:03:08But it was like something was forcing me, you know?
01:03:10Sure, yes, don't worry, I understand
01:03:14We'll discuss the master key later, Danny.
01:03:15But now I want you to tell mommy
01:03:19And what are you telling me?
01:03:20What happened up there, you understand?
01:03:23The lady got lipstick on me
01:03:26When he kissed me on the cheek
01:03:28Danny
01:03:29Danny, who are you talking about?
01:03:31Which lady?
01:03:32The one in 217
01:03:34And then he tried to strangle me
01:03:37And I couldn't breathe
01:03:41Dad, we have to get out of here right now.
01:03:45What are you talking about, Doc?
01:03:49This place is bad
01:03:50All the bad things that happened here
01:03:54I'm still here
01:03:55He wants us
01:03:57All of us
01:03:59But above all
01:04:01I think he wants to take me
01:04:04Who is he?
01:04:05And why does he want you, Danny?
01:04:08Because I have an aura
01:04:11That's what Dick calls her
01:04:14This hotel also has an aura
01:04:16And it's getting stronger
01:04:18It's getting more real
01:04:23Dick said
01:04:24That things here
01:04:26The things I would have seen
01:04:27They couldn't harm me
01:04:28Which were all like pictures in a book
01:04:30And that I could make them disappear if I wanted to.
01:04:35At first I could do it
01:04:37But what, Danny?
01:04:40But they are materializing
01:04:42They're coming out of the book
01:04:44No, wait Doc
01:04:46Sorry but I don't follow you
01:04:48Let me get this straight
01:04:49You're saying that
01:04:52What a ghost
01:04:54He tried
01:04:56To strangle you
01:04:58There are ghosts here
01:05:00And you know it too
01:05:03As there are so many other horrible things
01:05:07He wants to take you and dad too
01:05:09And force you to do that bad thing again
01:05:12Honey, listen to me
01:05:13Listen to me carefully
01:05:16Look at me, I don't touch alcohol anymore
01:05:18Since...
01:05:20For a very long time
01:05:24AND...
01:05:25Even if I wanted to drink a drop
01:05:27I couldn't
01:05:28Absolutely
01:05:29Why are there no bottles here?
01:05:32There's not even cooking sherry
01:05:34I know but...
01:05:35What Doc?
01:05:36What?
01:05:40But if we don't leave soon
01:05:42Then we risk not being able to leave anymore
01:05:48Dick said the overlook couldn't hurt us.
01:05:51But he was wrong.
01:06:18The first bad thing
01:06:20I saw her
01:06:21When Mr. Halloran took us upstairs
01:06:24In the presidential suite
01:06:26There was stuff on the walls
01:06:28Stuff like blood
01:06:35Come on, drink it
01:06:36Do you know what he's talking about?
01:06:38Yes, maybe yes
01:06:40According to the newspapers I found down in the cellar
01:06:43A major gangster was killed here
01:06:45About thirty years ago
01:06:47Along with a couple of bodyguards
01:06:50People were killed here and you didn't tell me?
01:06:52It happened a long time ago, Wendy
01:06:54I didn't think it mattered
01:06:56Dick has seen things too
01:06:58One day he saw something bad in room 217
01:07:02It must have been the lady inside there.
01:07:06And one time he saw an ugly thing out near the cuttlefish
01:07:10But he didn't tell me what it was.
01:07:16Did you see anything strange too?
01:07:18No
01:07:20Nothing
01:07:20Jack, where are you going?
01:07:24In 217
01:07:25Do you think I'm going to order a pizza?
01:07:28Jack, don't do it.
01:07:29If there really was someone
01:07:30I'm not talking about a ghost
01:07:32But of a real person
01:07:33In this case it would be better to cover our backs well
01:07:35Don't you believe it, darling?
01:07:36For safety
01:07:36Because if there is someone else in the hotel
01:07:38A real person
01:07:39We need to know
01:07:41Please don't leave us alone, Jack
01:07:43Wendy, let me do my job
01:07:46Why?
01:07:46Just because you're the keeper
01:07:48You are willing to risk our lives
01:07:50My job as a custodian
01:07:52My duty as a husband
01:07:54And also my duty as a father
01:07:56Jack, don't go there
01:07:57Wendy, stop it and keep your hands off
01:08:03Hey, cowboy
01:08:06I'll be right back
01:08:08Dad, be on your guard
01:08:09Be very careful
01:08:11I'll get by
01:08:28Thank you all
01:08:30Thank you all
01:08:56You had no reason to come to this place.
01:09:01I'd be too curious.
01:09:42I'd be too curious.
01:10:26I'd be too curious.
01:10:57I'd be too curious.
01:11:26I'd be too curious.
01:11:43I'd be too curious.
01:12:15I'd be too curious.
01:12:21I'd be too curious.
01:12:24I think, son, it's time once again to have another of our little talks about where you can
01:12:31to roam freely in this hotel and where you are prohibited.
01:12:34So are you ready?
01:12:36I couldn't help it, it wasn't my fault.
01:12:38Leave him alone.
01:12:39No, it's funny because I used to justify myself to my father like that too.
01:12:41Sure, those were the only times he was right, but to him it was all bullshit.
01:12:46And for me it's all bullshit too.
01:12:48It's an air of terrible fear.
01:12:50Now listen to me, son.
01:12:51I won't slap you, spank you, or yell at you.
01:12:55But I want you to be very clear that if I were to find this master key or any master key again in my hand
01:13:03to you, know that you would find yourself in a big, big mess.
01:13:08Did you understand me correctly?
01:13:09Do you hear that, Jack? You're threatening a seven-year-old boy, now stop it.
01:13:13I don't want to go into the rooms, Dad.
01:13:16I don't want to go into any of those rooms.
01:13:18I just want to get away before something terrible happens.
01:13:23Now you must promise me, now you must solemnly promise me, son, that you will never enter Mr. Holman's office again.
01:13:30I explained myself.
01:13:31Now that's enough.
01:13:32Danny, did you break the walkie-talkie?
01:13:36Why is it broken?
01:13:37Oh, you mean it wasn't broken when you walked in?
01:13:40No, I...
01:13:41Me, me, me, what, what? Was it broken or not?
01:13:44I want to get out of here, Jack.
01:13:46Please, Dad.
01:13:48You two, you two talk like it's easy.
01:13:51There's 75 centimeters of snow out there, no, I mean more than half a meter.
01:13:54There is a snowmobile in the tool shed that can carry four people.
01:13:58There are only three of us, plus Danny is little.
01:13:59But yes, come on, let's go.
01:14:01We leave the hotel exposed to the elements, we leave it open to vandals.
01:14:05I have to lower the boiler and all the saddles.
01:14:07Jack, have you looked at your son?
01:14:11Can't you see the amount of bruises on his neck?
01:14:13Or have you become a toilet?
01:14:15Stop it, stop screaming.
01:14:17Look, we'll talk about this later.
01:14:18We'll talk about it calmly later.
01:14:20No, darling, let's talk about it now.
01:14:21Or do you want to wait for something worse to happen?
01:14:23So you thought it was me, right?
01:14:25It was the first thought that crossed your suspicious mind.
01:14:28What I thought doesn't matter, I want us to take that snowmobile and go
01:14:32a sidewinder now, right away.
01:14:33Wendy, look out the window, have you gone blind, there is no visibility there?
01:14:38out.
01:14:38We can go slowly.
01:14:39We'll all freeze to death if I can't turn, if I lose my way.
01:14:43Jack, can you tell me why you always have to think.
01:14:44What?
01:14:45No, it's you who doesn't understand.
01:14:46I hate myself both, I hate myself because you're stupid, I hate myself enough.
01:15:07We can't leave tonight.
01:15:10We'll leave our feathers there.
01:15:14And that's the truth, pure and simple.
01:15:27All right, Jack.
01:15:29All right.
01:15:56And that's the truth, pure and simple.
01:16:39Mr. Torrens, if you abandon your post, it is your post.
01:16:42she will not be allowed to return.
01:16:44The direction.
01:17:03Come on, take off the masks!
01:17:05Come on, people!
01:17:11Sorry, Torrens, no second chances.
01:17:13Not for the alcoholics who cut and run.
01:17:16Oh, I suppose he'll find a place or job, in California, in the spring.
01:17:22Maybe as a clerk in a general store, or maybe in a car wash.
01:17:26That's what your wife and son would want, right?
01:17:29Seeing her work in that kind of job.
01:17:32Seeing her completely humiliated.
01:17:35Seeing her forget her dreams and remember only them.
01:17:40Go meet your fate, Mr. Torrens.
01:17:45Down with the mask.
01:17:52Down with the mask.
01:18:05And so, in the end...
01:18:08And so, in the end, the cheerful and happy taxi ride did not take long to arrive.
01:18:15So, let's see.
01:18:23If you looked down into an open pit and saw nothing.
01:18:31Dig a hole at the bottom of the grave and place the small coffin in it.
01:18:37Use some of the earth to cover the coffin and quickly throw it onto the mound.
01:18:43Get your windbreaker.
01:18:44I have to show you something.
01:18:47Danny!
01:18:49I'm reading, mommy!
01:18:50Don't move, I'm going out with your father for a moment.
01:18:53All right, Mom!
01:18:54What's up?
01:18:55Take the jacket, I'll show you.
01:19:02What happened?
01:19:04It was still intact the last time I saw it, which was the day before yesterday.
01:19:08But today...
01:19:10Is it broken to pieces like the radio?
01:19:11Yes, like the radio.
01:19:18Jack, it wasn't you, was it?
01:19:20I don't want to accuse you, it's not that...
01:19:21I didn't touch her, Wendy, I didn't even touch her.
01:19:24May the Lord be my witness!
01:19:31Then there must be someone else here with us.
01:19:33I really don't think so.
01:19:34Well, I did, do you think it was Danny?
01:19:36He's too small, whoever did it was stronger, much stronger than Danny.
01:19:40He wouldn't have had the physical strength, I agree.
01:19:44But you're forgetting one thing about him, and you know what I'm talking about.
01:19:48Do you remember when he was younger?
01:19:49However, if he suffered, he was delayed or had a stomach ache.
01:19:52Things were knocked over, glasses were broken.
01:19:54Do you remember the times when your LED toilet would repeatedly flush for up to five minutes at a time?
01:19:59Yes, but nothing has happened for years.
01:20:01The transmitting receiver that was in Holman's office didn't break years ago, darling.
01:20:05It happened last night.
01:20:06Danny wants to get out of here, did you hear that too?
01:20:08Maybe.
01:20:13Or maybe there's a part of him that wants to stay.
01:20:16Or maybe there's someone else who wants it.
01:20:21Danny believes...
01:20:23It seems so absurd, but he believes that the hotel is somehow channeling his special power.
01:20:29No, listen to me.
01:20:30That he's using him to cut us off from all our escape routes.
01:20:43Then he did it.
01:20:46And unless someone from the state drops by to see if we're alive,
01:20:52we will be stuck.
01:20:54And when might they pass?
01:20:59I do not know.
01:21:01Not before Christmas, anyway.
01:21:03Or probably not before New Year's.
01:21:07I can't believe it.
01:21:12Snowshoes, we could go with you on the way.
01:21:14No, no, are you kidding?
01:21:14I can't walk in those things.
01:21:16Well, what other options do we have?
01:21:18We could learn as we go, Jack.
01:21:19Maybe.
01:21:20We could look at the forecast and leave in a period when they predict three or four days without snow.
01:21:25And if the forecast is wrong and another storm comes, if that were to happen, I think all three of us would die.
01:21:33frozen to death.
01:21:35Somewhere in between is sidewinder.
01:21:41Then there is no hope.
01:21:44Be patient a little longer, Wendy.
01:21:46And I promise you
01:21:48that when the first park ranger passes by, you and Danny will leave.
01:21:55Ah, Jack.
01:22:15Danny!
01:22:18Danny!
01:22:20I'm up here cleaning the windows and you don't go away.
01:22:23Okay mom, don't worry.
01:22:31Agree.
01:23:10look at all the snow, look at all the snow, I'm having a lot of fun.
01:23:17Look at all the snow, look at all the snow, I'm having so much fun.
01:23:31Look at how much snow, look at how much snow, look at how much snow, look at how much snow.
01:23:34It's you?
01:23:38Jack!
01:23:40Yes, yes, yes.
01:24:31Jack?
01:25:03Jack?
01:25:13Are you in here?
01:25:25Jack!
01:25:27Jack help me, does he want to take damage?
01:25:31Jack, do you want to take damage?
01:25:34Jack, do you want to take damage?
01:25:55Jack, do you want to take damage?
01:25:59Jack, do you want to take damage?
01:26:04Jack, do you want to take damage?
01:26:19Jack, do you want to take damage?
01:26:32Thank you all.
