00:07and kangen mentioned about blake griffin and how he was a terrible three-point shooter didn't even
00:12shoot three-pointers really the first five six years of his career this came up in the context
00:16of can players develop yes and then develop into a pretty good three-point shooter actually had his
00:22best scoring season of his career with the pistons when he averaged 24 and a half points
00:29and was an all-star um part of the trade that went to the clippers when the pistons acquired
00:38blake griffin do you know who the what the pick ended up being they sent him a first round pick
00:42no first and second round picking up being miles bridges really yeah interesting
00:50and what's that who made the pick the the clippers they did make the pick yeah so this is
00:59this is wild when you look at the player who's taken right ahead of him shea gilgis alexander
01:06was selected right before miles bridges that draft yeah michael porter jr was two picks after him in
01:13that draft that's crazy kevin herter was 19 just kind of crazy how things go yeah you know they're
01:23down the road years later you look back at drafts it could be pretty pretty darn wild um
01:30but hey we've spent a lot of time talking about this this piston off season and there's been a lot
01:36of critical criticism of trajan and i've workshopped where i think it's fair okay and what i think is a
01:42fair criticism of trajan langdon who i still think has a chance to be a very good gm like his
01:46work i mean
01:47you can't i can't cite that there have been like some elite shrewd uh slight of hand gm moves that
01:55have landed them a team that was the number one seed because it's done on the backbone of much of
01:59what they already had in house but he hasn't he didn't screw that up although some people think he
02:06screwed up the trade deadline uh but we will circle back to what i think is a fair criticism of
02:10trajan langdon coming up and we'll hear from him in just under an hour's time as he will address the

02:30list of guys they're all hitting under 200 carp torque jones perez mckinstry all these guys
02:39one watch them back first pitch divas you can see when they say you can see it they don't want

02:47first pitch they stop they relax my opinion take that entire list send them down to toledo and bring
02:54up a bunch of rookies it's not going to change anything that's going on in this team but the
02:58rookies are going to get that experience because these guys are just you can see it and it's like
03:03ever since torque got hurt they quit but watch them back first pitch they don't want to swing
03:10you mean they relax before that pitch even hits the plate no he's talking about torque not swinging
03:16at the first pitch since it got hurt since he does it all the time he did it last year

03:22even get rid of flaherty as well our pitching is killing us the bats are killing us well you can't
03:28get rid of flaherty right now because um they don't have other alternatives it's just they just

03:44have melton and verlander back on this uh in this rotation as well perhaps that what does it mean for
03:49a guy like jack flaherty this jack flaherty is can he pitch his way to stay in the rotation or
03:54does he have to think about repurposing everybody talks about verlander and let's repurpose verlander
03:59and make him a make him the closer make him a bullpen arm what about flaherty because flaherty
04:03is a guy who's a still has a really good strikeout rate oh i agree put a middle rotation guy
04:08put a
04:09middle innings give him three four innings and yeah i agree with you completely on that
04:14there's business restrictions essentially and roster restrictions on what you want to do some guys
04:19can't be set down uh being released first others that you want to call up aren't on the 40 man
04:23roster which means you have to clear a spot which means make players uh designated for assignment
04:29they could end up on another roster carrie carpenter has above average ops in this league
04:35and not the average ops is 708 and he's at 750 i i don't think they need to send down
04:40carp they just
04:41need carp to get healthy and get back to the form he showed last year now his batting average isn't
04:46great but his on-base percentage and some of the power he's providing is something this team doesn't
04:51well i i agree with you on carp maybe give him the opportunity based off of him being hurt i

04:58that but for the for over half of this starting lineup they can't hit well no that's why i brought
05:04up that's that's why the guys that i brought up were guys that are bottom of the roster players that
05:09okay if you have to find a room on the 40 man roster the room would be from waving one
05:15of those guys
05:15and and some of these guys are actual call-ups that are here right because of players being hurt
05:22and so sending them back to toledo right now gage workman deserves to still be here because he has
05:28hit um but others you got to start thinking about i mean i'm not defending their production but i am
05:35saying you've they've already had emergency break glass guys in the lineup that you want to get rid of
05:41for more emergency break glass guys or they're the best they got until they get healthy is is
05:47probably what the tiger's thinking is because the frustration your frustration is valid
05:54but sending everybody down to call up a bunch of rookies is that's not wise yeah um but there
06:01might be a guy here right yeah well you know when i bring up wenzel peres he's got 98 at
06:09bats right
06:09so 100 at bats is not a small small sample size he's hitting 163 with a 456 ops he's a
06:16switch hitter
06:17and it's close to his advantage and where did he start the year uh well yeah it started the year
06:22at toledo because of uh because they kept because they held on to jami jones is why and jami jones
06:29what
06:29has he done he's got 52 at bats under his belts it's not a huge sample size but he's only
06:35hitting 192 on
06:36the year and i don't believe has a hit against a right-handed pitcher um you know it's been a
06:43struggle this is supposed to be the the left-handed specialist right it hits lefties well he's hitting
06:48227 against lefties with a 686 ops it's well below the league average you know he was supposed to be
06:56the andy abanias right that andy abanias was the guy who was the left-handed pitcher specialist
07:01to go against the lefties and and that has you know they decided we're going to hang on jami jones
07:05and let go of andy abanias and okay um you know some of these guys it just doesn't make sense
07:11anymore zach short never made sense but it's not a necessity they needed to have a short stop at the
07:16time but now mckinstry's back maybe you can afford to let go of zach short and bring up somebody else
07:23i think you can and um you know there's the the workman is an example of of something that that
07:31may work out it may it may it may not but it may yep and he's getting that opportunity and
07:39you know god i just want like i said boats taking on water but they're in the wrong boat
07:45they're supposed to be in a completely different boat and in so many ways with with scoobal
07:52manning the scoobal a starter vest coming out of the pen carpenter and and bias and uh
08:00glaber all in the everyday lineup like there's just you know it's just not who the tiger is
08:06supposed to be and so they're well below the expectation yeah and they're killing time and
08:13the four guys i suggested from toledo pick from those guys they're all over 800 ops guys um and
08:21three of the four are over 850 ops guys what's mark max clark been doing you follow this stuff
08:25uh he was in a slump um but he's still hitting he's hitting 270 now uh with this but his
08:31ops is
08:32is down to 708 yeah um he's not playing every day but seems to be playing three out of four
08:40days
08:41something like that i think he's a ways away which isn't a surprise no it's not a surprise at all
08:48and
08:48it's fine i mean he's a triple a right now and he's what 21 years old 20 years old so

08:54you may end up writing up the whole season at triple a toledo unless he things click and he
08:59starts to hit the ball to all fields and with power and all that another edition are you going
