00:12What a disappointment what a disappointment that weekend series was
00:18you go from
00:19You know scoobal domination on Friday to the bullpen lets down the team on Saturday
00:26and the same story
00:28Sunday
00:30Bullpen couldn't hang on to a lead which is
00:33I mean, it's not new
00:35It's not new. It's a repetitive story. It is
00:38Been a problem this entire season
00:42It's undermined
00:44Realistic chances of this team living up to
00:47Living up to its possibilities
00:50And it's a repetitive theme. I mean, there's there's a number of things that we could point to
00:55But the most repetitive theme
00:58Throughout this season is the bullpen is quite literally undermining
01:03This team's realistic chance to live up to
01:06Whatever they could possibly be
01:10And there are other things it's not exclusively that and ultimately this falls
01:14Under the umbrella of scott harris responsibilities

01:21That they not only
01:24Didn't do enough in terms of who they brought in
01:29The guys that they have counted on in the past
01:33All seem to have collectively taken steps backwards
01:37Will vest
01:40Kyle finnegan
01:42Tyler holton
01:43They aren't as reliable
01:46As they have been in the past and you know, some of it like some of their eras are roughly
01:52the same
01:52But they're putting more runners on base
01:54They're taking longer to get longer to get through innings
01:57They're throwing more pitches which takes away their availability the next day
02:02And
02:03Sort of the long shots
02:06The the reclamation projects
02:08The wagus packs and the summers and the true anderson's of the world
02:13Haven't
02:14Really been worth it
02:16When it's all said and done you feel like summers is close
02:20And then a bad pitch yesterday some bad luck with a
02:24With a bloop
02:25But then the home run and I mean and there goes
02:28There goes the game
02:30And if the bullpen was only average, but they've been brutal
02:35They've been absolutely
02:38Stunningly brutal and it falls on scott harris and am I giving up like I've I've
02:42You know people who are familiar with this show
02:45Know that we take
02:47We take a
02:50Probably a slower approach than many shows and that's fine. Everybody's different
02:55But baseball is such a a long haul and a grind of a season
03:00That I think early conclusions or quick conclusions
03:04Can be silly
03:07But
03:07You know teach their own
03:09You know, it's not the hottest take in the world to wait and see but we've waited and waited and
03:13waited
03:13To see if this team can get themselves into a position other than sell at the deadline
03:21And given their inconsistencies throughout this season
03:25And they're they feel like they're tantalizingly close to justifying
03:30An addition and what would one bullpen arm do what would one really solid?
03:35Back into the bullpen or setup guy what would one really solid acquisition do to help this team?
03:41You know what they need they need
03:42This is
03:43Strange because they still got them. They need kyle finnegan. They need a kyle finnegan like trade
03:47I mean, they need more than just that but that at a minimum if they were going to make a
03:51move and do something
03:53Last year they made the move for kyle finnegan at the trade deadline
03:55And it was met with a collective yawn and then he went out and he was really good for the
03:59tigers the rest of the way
04:01And now here they've got kyle finnegan
04:04And it's been a it's been a step back. It's been a
04:07It's been a step back for him vest holton
04:09It feels like all of them
04:12The kenley jansen thing
04:14Has been mixed results. There's been a lot of
04:18really really uneven outings, but
04:21If you're if you're if you're going to sit here
04:23We could talk about the nuance of all the other things have gone wrong and there's a lot that have
04:27gone wrong and there's some that's gone right
04:29but
04:30We just can't escape
04:33The bottom line that this team has 21 saves and 24 blown saves
04:40Now just for relevant sake it's so everybody knows
04:43Every team in major league baseball minus the atros astros have double digit blown saves
04:49Blown saves happen. They happen in better bullpens
04:53But there's a way to quantify
04:56Your ability to protect the lead
04:58In the late innings and nobody has blown more saves
05:02Than the detroit tigers and this is all stuff that probably all of you know
05:08But it's here. We are sitting one week away from the trade deadline. There's six games to go
05:14And what do we got? We got a baseball team
05:17That in my opinion just isn't doing enough
05:22To justify either a a buy
05:26or b
05:28a not sell
05:31And you know, there's still only three and a half back of the wild card, but
05:34You know you kind of get to the point with the zero hour approaching where you're just like
05:39can't
05:41Can't really justify
05:43This group
05:44Putting it all together and look
05:47I have like I said my fingers on the trigger maybe a better way to put is my fingers on
05:50the button to detonate
05:54As it stands right now
05:56The only reason that trigger hasn't been pulled or that button hasn't been pushed as they could go six and

06:01in fact
06:01The way that they
06:03Have been so jekyll and hyde an absolute
06:08Schizophrenic baseball product this year

06:12Maybe six and oh is totally within the realm of possibility
06:16But a
06:17I i'm not counting on it
06:19And then when we came out of the all-star break gator gave the number 12 and 4 12 and
06:234 is the is what they got to do
06:25Well, they're six and four
06:27And I said at the time I just I can't bring myself to trust them
06:30I want to trust them, but I can't bring myself to trust them
06:34but I would
06:37I would trust them and I would add if they could go out and do something out of character and
06:42that's just keep winning and winning
06:44and winning and they've
06:47They're not a they're not a two steps forward two steps back team
06:50They're more like a five steps forward four steps back like they
06:52Are just inching a little bit better inching and inching and inching, but
06:58They need to and you know
07:00And in the course of a long season, that's usually how it's done, but they have to make a decision

07:04There's a reason why the last couple of weeks we've talked about it having a playoff baseball feel
07:09And it has had a playoff baseball feel legitimate playoff baseball feel
07:14but
07:15and it's because we all know zero hours approaching and
07:19I just
07:21Right on the cusp, I you know
07:23We can be sitting here in here tomorrow
07:25And quite frankly crafting all the different moves that they could make to have a massive sell-off and try
07:30and set themselves up
07:31And you know what that massive sell-off is no guarantee and all we have to do and that's that's
07:36the problem with the
07:39the idea that
07:42They have to move people
07:44if I had told you two seasons ago
07:47Two seasons ago when the tigers were trying to ship off jack flarity
07:51And even then there was talk about moving scoobal
07:55If I had told you then
07:58That one of the teams
08:00That you could get that would absolutely give you something for the for the your pitchers your assets was the
08:05baltimore orioles
08:06You would say take it because baltimore is loaded. They're set
08:10They're gonna be a factor moving forward
08:13And that's the opponent the tigers play tonight
08:15And that opponent is only one game better than detroit
08:21because

08:24Who was supposed to be a cornerstone piece?
08:28Hasn't really improved gunner henderson has his share of struggles
08:33They they colby mayo
08:35He's batting below 200. Do you remember all those names? You may not but those were the names that were
08:40being talked about
08:42Those were the names those were the guys that everybody in baseball wanted because they were the best prospects in
08:46the game
08:48But they just a couple years later
08:50Baltimore is really not that much better and their guys haven't really panned out
08:54Hey, but that doesn't mean you don't try and at some point it's justifiable
08:59And as I said all along going for it is a risk
09:02And selling off as a risk
09:05because
09:07Prospects don't always hit
