00:41is you just completely shift one's focus to either not paying attention or solely focused on the future

01:05determination will come in the next 18 games because of who they play they come up and they've got these

01:19do then it's on the road at the white socks and at tampa then it's home against seattle minnesota
01:27and cleveland so you're going to have nine games within the division half of those games you're going
01:33to play in the next 18 are within the division and you're chasing all these teams because you're in
01:37the basement and the white socks have been a nice story you know they've they've been so bad for so

01:43but they've got all this young talent that they're now starting to see you know they took a chance on
01:47some international players that are paying off as well um and then you've you'll finish up the 18
01:52games the last three are going to be at cleveland who is king of the division so if you think

01:59making up ground and then you find out you go to cleveland are you still making up ground or did

02:04get slapped back down three more rungs on the ladder i think that's the point where i can make my

02:09real determining factor but i can't give up on them now because i'm it's just i think it's still
02:14early in the season i recognize that they still need to get guys back i think there are moves that
02:19they can make immediately that could and should help this offense we'll see if they decide to to jump
02:26on that but you know getting melton back is is big uh they could have jv back in a week

02:34be nice if they could do that or maybe it's going to be a couple weeks and i don't know

02:38they have to do with him on a they want to send him on a rehab assignment or not but

02:43pitching back which is which is really great um it sucked to see some bullpen arms get hurt again
02:47over the weekend but then again those aren't their big bullpen arms and they still have questions that
02:53they got to ask about a lot of players on this team it sucks that riley green's in a one

02:58where he hasn't drawn a walk in the four games either but at the same time dylan dingler's bad is
03:03starting to wake up a little bit again here uh mcgonigal is mcgonigal so they need to get some guys
03:09back labor tours really needs to come back and it doesn't look like he's coming back soon he still
03:13has pain when he swings which is a problem with the oblique uh but we'll see where they're at i'm
03:20giving it 18 days so that takes you out to june 14th is that sunday at cleveland then they got
03:25three more games on the road after that at houston um if i want to include that i could but

03:31i'm just going to stop it at cleveland because that's the team that they play in the division
03:34so here's my argument for why i'm not giving up and it's troy melton and it's not because i think
03:43troy melton's going to lead this team to a playoff charge it's because that is one player that came
03:49back and contributed greatly to one win imagine when you get two three and four players back and five
03:59players back and you know there was a story by chris mccoskey over the weekend that i thought was
04:05really interesting he pointed out the real trigger for the for the collapse was glaber torres injury
04:12and aj hinch pointed out that having to move guys around in the order guys who were doing well but
04:20he wants dylan dingler to move to be in the middle of the order not having to be hitting you
04:25know closer
04:26to the top same thing with colt keith better to be down in the order and when guys start coming

04:32and everybody can return to the role that they're supposed to have you get glaber back carry carver
04:37yeah that that really improves everyone one to nine and you can start phasing out the players that
04:43don't belong here you know and the because the team they're putting on the field right now is
04:48extraordinarily frustrating and yesterday we took some feedback somebody saying you know it's an
04:55embarrassment that this is who they have and i'm like yeah it is and it isn't like if you start
04:59knocking down four or five guys from a lineup and just taking them out there's not a whole ton of
05:04teams that have major league ready veterans down at triple a some of them you get a guy or two

05:12that but there's there are guys who are just waiting for that that's kind of what you have and you

05:16with zach short and it's it's a it's a brutal reality of what they're in but i i guess it

05:23melton contributed mightily to win melton's a good player they got other good players that are coming
05:27back too they do and they need to come back soon to really make kind of a run at this

05:32going to be at the latter part of the the 18 game stretch that i'm looking at but you know

05:37about giving up my interest in watching baseball is always going to be so it's that that part of me
05:43doesn't give up me giving up on thinking the season is done for this team as as a playoff team

05:48that could happen like i said the next 18 games but the other things you're looking at is the scuba
05:53come back you know when when will scuba come back is it going to be two weeks is going to

05:58weeks is going to be eight weeks right and it looks like it's closer to maybe two weeks than anything
06:04else and you know the tigers have a big decision to make with him when you get to probably middle

06:11june or or early july they could wait to the end of july i suppose for the trade deadline but
06:16they're going to have to make that decision based on where they are in the standings
06:19and if they are continuing to be you know 10 games back or eight games back
06:27it feels like you have to trade tarik scuba it'd be malpracticed not to and then well then the
06:33interest gets built up about okay if they're going to they had this giant chip what are they going to
06:38get for this giant chip what young player from somebody else's roster they're going to get that's
06:42going to make this team better in the future it's it's the biggest storyline of the trade deadline
06:46buster only tweeted about again yesterday about what detroit can do to maximize their return
06:50includes paying off much of the 11 million that he has owed the rest of the way and i'm all

06:56and he says it makes sense that the tigers very well could be compelled to do so i feel like

07:01two runways going to two destinations and and i'm i'm going to start down both runways one is getting
07:07back in this thing and the other runways sell off they're going to completely opposite destinations
07:13but i want to topically i think we're going to do both for the next two months yeah and the

07:18you don't have to sell off until july 31st right that that's the deadline so you don't have to do
07:24anything until then now i i would imagine that they may want to get ahead of that a little bit
