00:16We will carry the Trajan Langdon news conference today at 1 o'clock.
00:22248-539-9797, another day removed from the disastrous Game 7.
00:27I'm a little bit better headspace today.
00:28I don't know about you.
00:30You feeling a little bit better?
00:31I mean...
00:32Not better about what happened, but just maybe coping.
00:35Are you coping better?
00:37I think I'm coping better than you, yes.
00:40No, I'm asking, are you coping better than you were coping yesterday?
00:46Probably.
00:47Yeah.
00:47Marginally.
00:48Yeah.
00:48In the margins, though.
00:49It's probably going to hurt more when we see the Cleveland Cavaliers theatrical troupe
00:56take on the New York Knicks theatrical troupe tonight in the Eastern Conference Finals.
00:59But it is what it is.
01:01Okay.
01:03So, remember a couple weeks ago, the New York Giants released a video where the Lions, it
01:09was inside their war room video.
01:13And I don't remember if they even used the Lions' name, but they just said that the team
01:17at 50 was looking to move up 13 spots to 37, and they were going to give up two fourths
01:25and a fifth.
01:26Remember that?
01:26They came out, and we talked about it.
01:29Yeah.
01:30Well, now the Ravens have released one, and it's about their first-round pick at 14.
01:36And we're going to play this for you.
01:37It might be hard to hear exactly what is said, but we will interpret it for you.
01:42But this is actual sound inside the Ravens' room.
01:46Their GM is Eric DaCosta.
01:49And apparently the Lions at 17 called about the Ravens' pick at 14, and here's how it
01:55sounded.
02:16Okay.
02:22Okay.
02:23If you didn't hear that, and I understand why, it was hard to hear.
02:26They did have subtitles in the actual.
02:28They were talking about Proctor going 12, Ty Simpson going 13.
02:33They were at 14.
02:34Ravens on the clock at 14.
02:35Ravens on the clock at 14, and they called back, do you want to do your original deal?
02:41Which the original deal was moving from 17 to 14 for a fourth-rounder in the 2026 draft,
02:51and a third-rounder in the 2027 draft.
02:55The Lions tried to move up three spots.
03:00And when Proctor went 12 and Simpson went 13, that's when the Lions said no.
03:08That led to some speculation that the reason they said no is because they were after Proctor.
03:15But when the draft was over, question came in to Brad about were they going to sit there
03:22at 17, or are they actually going to move up and maybe go after Blake Miller?
03:27And here's what he said.
03:29And here's what he said.
03:31And here's what he said.
04:43Okay, now every team says they got the player they wanted.
04:46Right. And so he could be full of poi here.
04:51But the way he frames that, okay, we talked to teams.
04:55They talked to Baltimore, three picks ahead of them.
04:59How it fells once L.A. took the quarterback.
05:02They didn't think that anybody else, which was Baltimore Tampa or the Jets,
05:05who had 14, 15, and 16, would take a tackle and would take Blake Miller.
05:10And as he admitted, his only concern was would somebody trade up from behind them
05:14to jump them to take the tackle because everybody was associating Detroit with the tackle.
05:18Right. And we know that Carolina took Monroe Freeling at 19,
05:23and Pittsburgh took Inatra at 21.
05:29Yep.
05:30I don't know why I keep mispronouncing his name.
05:33We don't need to worry about his name.
05:34It's been a few weeks since I've had to say it.
05:38Okay, two things.
05:39I'm so glad they didn't trade up for two reasons.
05:44One, because for me, the bucket of players that's there for them available at 17,
05:49they only have to wait three spots, was good enough where I don't need to
05:53because you had a couple of tackles that were there,
05:56and you had some edge rushers that could be there too.
05:59Both of the Miami edge rushers were available from 14 on.
06:04The other one, and you didn't know what Baltimore was going to do,
06:08but Ben Gaione was a player I really liked, the guard out of Penn State.
06:13So I'm like, fine, don't do that.
06:15The other reason, which is more important for you or I,
06:19is that working alongside Kang would have been insufferable.
06:23It would have been insufferable because...
06:24Absolutely insufferable if they had traded up to take Blake Miller.
06:31This kid's had the magic touch when it comes to predicting the Lions draft picks.
06:35For the last two years.
06:36Last couple years.
06:37And I mean, from a sense of, it's never what you think it's going to be.
06:44And this year he said they were going to take Blake Miller,
06:47which I guess was gaining some steam as he got closer to the draft.
06:50But then he added the logo shot.
06:53He took a shot from the logo and said they're going to trade up to do it,
06:56which was like, whoa, whoa, whoa.
06:58Yeah, slow down.
06:59Because nobody had Blake Miller going before the Lions at 17.
07:02But Kang doesn't try and...
07:04He tries to get...
07:05He's the Brad Holmes whisperer.
07:07He thinks he can figure out what Brad Holmes is thinking.
07:09And had they actually done this?
07:13My God.
07:14Kang.
07:16I think I would have had to...
07:18Something weird.
07:19It just got weird, right?
07:21Yeah.
07:21That's not even...
07:22I don't even think I can applaud that.
07:23I'd be like, why did you just do the exact thing I thought you were going to do?
07:27That's weird.
07:28Coming out by middays with Kang and friends.
07:32But Gator, listening to that soundbite of the, you know, behind the scenes with the Ravens,
07:37and then listening back to what Brad Holmes said at the post-draft presser,
07:42were they going to trade up for Blake Miller?
07:43It sounds like they were going to trade up for Blake Miller.
07:46I mean, like I said, there was a bucket of players that I would have liked.
07:50But, no, it sounds like there was a definite conviction,
07:52because as it played out, they had their choice of three tackles,
07:57and they took Blake Miller.
07:58They passed on Monroe Freeling.
08:00They passed on Ahanichur.
08:01Let me be clear here.
08:02I think there is a Proctor factor here as well.
08:05And what I mean by that is...
08:06Maybe they like Caden Proctor a lot.
08:08I think they liked Caden Proctor and Blake Miller.
08:12And what made them make the call was because they thought they both might be gone.
08:18And when Proctor went and they got to Baltimore,
08:23I think that that's when they felt safe.
08:26Well, when Ty Simpson got taken by the Rams.
08:28Yeah, sorry.
08:29When Ty Simpson...
08:30And he said as much.
08:31My bad.
08:32By the time they got to Baltimore, they thought, okay, one or the other.
08:35Because I don't think they would have called.
08:37I think their concern was that Proctor and Blake Miller were going to be gone
08:40before Baltimore picked.
08:42It doesn't disclose when they first made contact, right?
08:45At what point in the draft.
08:46So, I mean, when you look at the players that were taken that start to slip, right?
08:52Mauanoa was available at 10.
08:56And that was the number one tackle that most people had in the draft.
08:59Spencer Fando actually went ahead of him.
09:01But Mauanoa was the guy that everybody really liked.
09:04And Caleb Downs, the safety who we all liked.
09:06But it sounds like the Lions wouldn't have been going after the safety.
09:09But is it possible that they were willing to trade up for Mauanoa?
09:13And then Baltimore gets back to them and says, hey,
09:16are you still interested in doing that trade?
09:17Because they thought maybe Mauanoa slips to 14 as their guy.
09:21But he wasn't there.
09:23Interesting to hear.
09:24It's not possible, Gator.
09:25I told you what they were going to do.
09:26They were going to trade up for Blake Miller if they had to.
09:29Once Ty Simpson was drafted, I texted Brad.
09:31I said, Brad, the board's falling perfectly.
09:33Stay put.
09:34I'm glad you did.
09:37Who are we to argue at this point?
09:38We kept our assets.
09:39Second round's a different story.
09:41Yeah, we had fuzzy signal on the second day.
09:43That's what it was.
09:44You're breaking up.
09:45Take me off speaker.
09:46It's a trade up for Miller.
09:47What are you doing more?
09:48Turn your radio down and take you off speaker, Keg.
09:50Is that what Brad said?
09:51Yeah.
09:522, 4, 8, 5, 3, 9, 97, 97.
09:54It's Carson Anderson.
09:55We got open lines if you want to respond to that.
09:57Also, Vegas has now done point spreads for every game.
10:00So we can actually do the Vegas win-loss, win-loss, win-win-win-win-loss thing with the Lions
10:05schedule.
10:06That's great.
10:07So why wouldn't we?
10:08That at 1120.
10:09I'm Carson Anderson on 97.1.
