The Ravens backed out on the Maxx Crosby trade, should the Lions swoop in?
Transcript
00:01I hate March.
00:04We'll talk wings at 7.50.
00:06That's cruel.
00:08Not even to get a point.
00:10You're down one center.
00:11Now you're down two centers.
00:13Leads down to three.
00:14Last night was...
00:17We'll do it at 7.50.
00:18Text on the Lions.
00:20Jerry Goff's deal has been restructured.
00:21They freed up some money.
00:22$32 million.
00:23Now what are they going to do with it?
00:24Is it going to be resigning current players?
00:27Or is it going to be bringing in some external people
00:29to make this team better?
00:32On Pacheco.
00:33Guys, if you need three yards of pop,
00:35he'll give you three yards.
00:36If you need six yards of pop,
00:38he'll give you three yards.
00:39That's the type of running back he is.
00:42Yeah.
00:43Yep.
00:43If you need six yards,
00:45who are you handing the ball to?
00:46Jameer Gibbs or you're passing.
00:47Right.
00:48Or you're running a screen or something else.
00:49Yeah.
00:49Look, the style of play is he's a between-the-tackles hammer.
00:52He runs violently.
00:53Coming off the injury,
00:55what has not been efficient,
00:56but if he can pick up blitzes and get the tough yards,
00:58that's an element this team lost with David Montgomery.
01:01He's not Montgomery,
01:02but it's an element they needed to replace.
01:05Guys,
01:07with Crosby failing his physical,
01:09what are the chances Brad Holmes is far more interested now?
01:15It all depends on what he's going to have to give up.
01:18I don't think there's a world where Brad Holmes gives up two firsts.
01:21No,
01:21but what I threw out is what if he could give up the second this year
01:24and the first next year?
01:25Then he keeps 17 to address the tackle spot.
01:28He gets his edge.
01:30He uses that cap space on a piece that rounds out that D line,
01:33and it makes the secondary's job easier with those guys up front,
01:37him and Hutch.
01:38And so some of that will depend on,
01:40okay,
01:41what is it that the Raiders need this year?
01:44Are they wanting,
01:45okay,
01:45they got the number one overall pick.
01:46We know that they're most likely going to go with Mendoza.
01:52Do they also want that first this year,
01:54or would they be okay kicking it down the road to getting that first next year?
01:58That's a question that I don't have the answer to.
02:00Only the Raiders do.
02:01And you don't know what other offers are going to come in.
02:02Are people still going to offer two firsts,
02:04or are they going to try to?
02:05And how desperate are they to get that salary cap space back?
02:09What I'm hoping,
02:10though,
02:10is teams have already made commitments that they don't want to hurt their
02:14reputation and tell guys no,
02:16as deals are about to get signed today,
02:18that it kicks out a couple teams,
02:19Dallas being one,
02:20they made the trade for Rashawn Gary,
02:22couple teams clear the deck.
02:23The Lions get a second chance at this Crosby situation in a reduced price
02:27market.
02:27And if they can thread the needle and get the deal done,
02:30suddenly that's,
02:31that's a kick-ass free agency.
02:33Yeah.
02:35But I want to keep the first this year,
02:36because I think they need to address the tackle spot there.
02:39They're not signing Trey Hendrickson enough already.
02:42Well,
02:42that wouldn't require any draft picks.
02:44He's still out there.
02:45If we reconstruct St.
02:46Brown or Sewell,
02:47we can get guys,
02:48we can get two stars out of free agency.
02:52Wait,
02:53say that again.
02:54He says,
02:54if they restructure St.
02:55Brown or Sewell,
02:55they can pick up two stars out of free agency.
02:57Yeah,
02:58that's,
02:58I mean,
02:58I still think that,
02:59okay,
02:59today we got early this morning,
03:01the news that Goff's contract was restructured.
03:06They freed up $32 million.
03:07That's great.
03:08We,
03:08we,
03:08we anticipated,
03:10we thought maybe it would happen earlier.
03:12It happened this morning.
03:14I still think there are one,
03:17if not multiple more restructures coming.
03:20Yeah.
03:21First of more.
03:22Yeah.
03:22Several.
03:23First of several.
03:25Quick little note.
03:26Last night was a wild sports night and we're going to,
03:29you know,
03:29get the little note on USA baseball,
03:32losing to Italy and BAMS,
03:3383 points locally.
03:35Dusty may got coach of the year from the media.
03:38Most notably,
03:39he did not get coach of the year in the big 10 from his fellow big 10
03:43coaches something or nothing.
03:44John,
03:45I don't see it as much of anything.
03:47I understand how good he was this year.
03:51Fred Hoiberg is the one that won it.
03:54And he was able to win.
03:58He's,
03:59he is second in the big 10 in Lincoln,
04:02Nebraska.
04:03I don't have,
04:05I'm not offended.
04:06I would have loved to have seen dusty may.
04:09He did enough to,
04:10to,
04:10to win it.
04:11But Fred Hoiberg,
04:13I'll try to give you this a little bit of context.
04:17It's easier to win in Lincoln,
04:19Nebraska with their football team than it is with their basketball team.
04:23And how has that gone for the football program?
04:26Now you're telling me that they're winning basketball in Lincoln,
04:31Nebraska.
04:32What?
04:34And so I,
04:35I understand coaches understanding how hard it's easier to win at Michigan than
04:40it is at Nebraska.
04:42Is it easy to beat everybody by double digits?
04:44No,
04:45he did a great job.
04:46It did to me.
04:48This is,
04:48Hey,
04:49it's just the circumstances of somebody else also having a great year.
04:54It's like Dan Campbell losing out on coach of the year.
04:58When Kevin O'Connell loses to Dan Campbell twice,
05:02loses in the post season,
05:03but is able to get a 14 win team with Sam Darnold.
05:07No,
05:07I know.
05:07But typically the like overachieving vote comes from the media.
05:11Cause we love our narratives and we didn't believe in you and you overachieved.
05:14The media gave it to dusty.
05:16The coaches.
05:18I wonder if there's some jealousy or dusty's a disruptor.
05:22He's come in here and he's doing it with this perceived mercenaries and we don't respect
05:27dusty.
05:28How do you not 19 and one in the big 10,
05:3116 wins by double digits.
05:33Hoiberg didn't win 16 big 10 games.
05:35Dusty won 16 by double digits.
05:37He would have won the conference.
05:39If single digit wins were losses,
05:40he was absolutely the coach of the year.
05:43And his peers didn't respect him enough to give him it.
05:46I think there's something there.
05:48Okay.
05:48You can make up whatever you want or believe whatever you want.
05:51And,
05:51and I,
05:52I out of 18 or 17 other big 10 coaches,
05:55I'm sure that that that's part of it.
05:58I also think there's a recognition for what Fred Hoiberg has done.
06:02And Fred Hoiberg is a very likable guy as well.
06:05Let's get to Heather with the news.
06:10Well,
06:10Uber is rolling out a new feature nationwide.
06:13That allows women to request rides specifically,
06:16specifically from female drivers.
06:18I think this was coming.
06:19Yeah.
06:19Cause there,
06:20it was like a pilot program.
06:21Cause we talked about this in the past,
06:22but now it is here nationwide.
06:24So the option is called women drivers.
06:26And like I said,
06:27it allows riders to choose a female driver.
06:31When booking a trip,
06:32they can reserve one in advance,
06:33or they can set it as like a default preference in the app.
06:37And then women drivers for Uber can also choose to only pick up female passengers if they want.
06:43All of that can be changed.
06:45The company says that the feature is designed to give women more comfort and control,
06:50especially during late night trips or other situations where safety may be a concern.
06:55One challenge that will be there is that there's only about one in five drivers in the U.S.
07:02that are women for Uber.
07:04So there could be longer wait times if that's what you're requesting.
07:09But overall,
07:10it sounds like it has been very helpful.
07:12A lot of people said that they love having the options.
07:15Now the rollout does come as the company faces a lawsuit in California from drivers who argue that the feature
07:22discriminates against men.
07:24So there are some people who don't like this or aren't in favor,
07:28particularly the male drivers who already drive for Uber.
07:33Well, as dad of daughters and two of them are using Uber on campus,
07:40I'm very happy that they have this option.
07:43I like it.
07:45I never really use Uber now.
07:46I used to when I traveled all the time with auto shows in different cities.
07:51I've had female drivers just by chance.
07:55I would use it.
07:57But I typically feel pretty comfortable.
08:00I probably wouldn't.
08:01I would use it if it's available.
08:03I wouldn't wait a long time.
08:05I would take whoever is there.
08:06Right.
08:07Get me to where I'm going.
08:08Yeah.
08:08A years long nationally watched murder case has finally come to a close.
08:14On Tuesday, a jury found Dale Warner,
08:17this prominent Tecumseh farmer,
08:20guilty of killing his wife and also tampering with evidence.
08:24Warner was charged with murder back in 2023.
08:26More than two years after his wife, D. Warner, went missing.
08:31She went missing in 2021.
08:33Investigators didn't find her body until 2024.
08:35It was found inside the sealed fertilizer tank.
08:39During the trial, I mean, it was a long trial.
08:42The defense argued that there was no physical evidence tying him to his wife's death.
08:48But an autopsy did show that D. Warner was strangled and suffered blunt force trauma.
08:54So he's going to be sentenced in May.
08:58This is an interesting story.
09:00A professional bowler in Denver, Colorado,
09:02was shocked to discover that 17 of his bowling balls were stolen from his front porch last month.
09:09Wait a second.
09:10He stores his balls on the front porch?
09:13Not usually.
09:14He said the balls were there because they were going to be transferred into another vehicle the next day.
09:20And because of their weight, they're more than 255 pounds combined.
09:24Total, right.
09:25That it was easier for him to just put them there, then move them all inside.
09:29He's not going to carry them all at once.
09:31No, but it was just, to him, it was easier just to set them there,
09:34then get them into the home.
09:36You wouldn't think that bowling balls would be at the top of somebody's list of things to steal.
09:40Exactly. Valued more, at more than $4,500, weighing more than 255 pounds.
09:48But he says, like, this was his entire arsenal of balls.
09:51He had 17 of them, and every one served a different purpose.
09:56And he said it's really going to affect his tournament play.
09:59But he did go and play in a tournament without his balls.
10:04And he just used spare balls, and he came in ninth.
10:08But he did say he will be more conscious of what he leaves on the porch.
10:12Yeah, so he's got one for strikes.
10:14He's got one for, you know, the spares.
10:17He's got one for every situation.
10:19Apparently so.
10:20I mean, he's got 17 of them.
10:22Wow.
10:23A lot of balls.
10:24It's a lot of balls.
10:25It's Heather with the news.
10:26Coming up next, free agent frenzy day two, including Max Crosby not going to Baltimore.
10:31The deal's off.
10:32It's 97-1.
