02:08played 12 games in their freshman year uh this is as we said um interesting stuff that's being
02:15floated out there by cbs sports a list of buyers and sellers the nfl trade deadline is november 10th

02:28um you can make a case that philly did it uh with their trade uh the center was cam jurgens

02:35but they put together a list of sellers and buyers the lions are on the buyers list
02:41the they write the lions will go as far as their offense carries them that is unless they address
02:46one of the nfl's most glaring needs helping the secondary detroit would stand to benefit from a
02:52potential fire sale in tampa because they can probably make mccullum's i'm a column available for
02:58the right price there are several directions the lions could go at cornerback and they could afford to
03:04be aggressive they own the second most cap space with 33.9 million available and as a team that has
03:09to strike now to maximize its contention window any and all draft picks should be on the table

03:45mccullum is probably the best uh he would cost something because he's under contract for next year
03:52his cap number next year would be 15 million so he might bite into some money that they have earmarked
03:59for somebody else good player and how good is he last week he had 42 coverage snaps in dallas
04:07against george pickens and cd land 42 coverage snaps zero completions against him this was which
04:15one zion mccullum mccullum from tampa uh dante jackson also good player he's 30 he's not quite mccullum
04:22he'd be a rental the chargers are 0 and 5 you could probably get him cheaper and he would probably
04:28be an upgrade for the lions as would christian fulton although i'm not sure why a undefeated

06:46as we you know everyone else listening brad holmes doesn't operate in windows but mccullum had an
06:51extension recently so that keeps him this isn't a rental this hopefully if you're not operating in a
06:57window he's part of the the current and the future right this year and two more exactly so that's
07:02important i think when when you're looking at possible trade targets for brad holmes for rentals
07:07he ain't gonna pay a lot let's just be honest like it might be a deal where you go out
07:10there and it's
07:11not as expensive everyone thinks remember when they got zadarius smith it was like a fifth round pick
07:15everyone's like oh that that's a good deal we'll get them for this year it doesn't cost too much and
07:19then move on if they have to mccullum you will have to give up a little bit more because he
07:23is a good
07:24player and he's under team control and i would do it and that to me fits my window of getting

07:29right now which this team has an elite offense and just needs an average defense right i mean
07:34actually you have a pretty elite front four you have generally the worst secondary in the league
07:39right now if that that secondary gets a little bit better to average or below average then you have
07:45a real shot at doing some damage not just making the playoffs but doing something in the playoffs so
07:49i would definitely make the deal doug i'm hoping that uh brad holmes is on the phone and aggressive
07:55i don't want to hear at the end we were very much in it i want to hear that we

08:08you know excited about his work of late um and admittedly so and talked about it on the air
08:14but a move like this would fly in the face of something that i'm starting to get scared many of
08:21believe it okay many of you believe it i think it is foolish to have hard and fast rules i

08:27it's absolutely foolish to have hard and fast rules when it comes to how to build a team
08:32if there is a player available that can help you that you can acquire through free agency through
08:38trade off a practice squad whatever and you have a hard and fast rule that i'm not going to take
08:46advantage of this accessibility to a player i think it's i think it's stubborn and foolish and
08:53you know the trades that brad has made have you know zadarius smith was a trade deadline acquisition
09:01that was was decent but not elite this feels like it has a chance to be really good and and
09:07you know i think that one of the things that people remember need to remember is that let's say
09:13you're a nickel most snaps they could improve 40 of their secondary right it's not getting two
09:19players for the defense it's changing over 40 of your secondary if you were to trade for a player
09:28and add brian branch who as long as he stays healthy i imagine is going to be an upgrade over
09:35what they have out there now so does a 40 injection of talent into a position group
09:42you're starting five help let alone if you're going to play four guys on the field out of the
09:49secondary it should help tremendously and if you're able to get both of these guys and they can stay
09:56healthy play the rest of the season play through the playoffs i will tell you that i think it's it's

10:02a serious upgrade in the secondary and now you're looking at a defense that instead of being
10:08one of the worst in the national football league if not the worst defense against the pass
10:13that this team goes at least middle of the pack with that these are these would be two massive
10:17moves if they can stay healthy two four eight five three nine ninety seven ninety seven intriguing to
10:22see the lions involved i do think there's another position that they may consider making a trade for
10:28that hasn't been talked about that i've heard at all we will get to that today at 12 20
