00:02they called it the White 1 gang
00:05because of the car they used to carry out ambushes, robberies and murders
00:09for almost a decade they have sown terror and death
00:13but they weren't just any bandits
00:16Ercole Rocchetti's profile
00:18he killed my 22 year old son
00:26but barefoot
00:28the white 1 gang
00:34one of the darkest pages in recent Italian history
00:38103 robberies, 24 deaths, more than 200 injured
00:42for a very modest financial reward
00:44just over 2 billion old lire
00:46this was the price of so many broken lives
00:49in the 7 years of the band's activity
00:52a trail of blood from 87 to 94
00:55stained the streets of Emilia Romagna and Marche
00:58motorway toll booths, petrol stations, supermarkets, gun shops
01:03up to banks and post offices
01:05all crimes that were not initially traced back to the same perpetrator
01:09It took a couple of years before investigators figured out
01:12who in reality had to do with a single gang of criminals
01:16because after each of their heists the same model of car was almost always found
01:21precisely a white 1
01:22which over time became their signature
01:25at the trial they will say that they chose that car
01:28because it was the most widespread in those years
01:30and the easiest to steal
01:33but not only
01:34the white 1 gang was probably
01:36the bloodiest criminal gang in Italian history
01:39with an unprecedented disregard for human life
01:42murders and injuries
01:44who seemed fueled only by the pleasure of killing
01:47sometimes even for pseudo-political and racial reasons
01:51to the point that many thought of a precise strategy of terror
01:55by right-wing extremists
01:57or of deviant secret services
02:00but who was the White 1 gang made up of?
02:03we have to get to 1994
02:05to discover a truth that no one would ever have wanted to even imagine
02:10The turning point came on November 3rd of that year
02:13Pietro Costanza and Luciano Baglioni
02:15two tenacious policemen from the Rimini police headquarters
02:18they noticed a Fiat Tipo in front of a bank
02:20with a completely illegible license plate
02:22a detail that was enough to make him suspicious
02:25and so they decided to follow that man at the wheel right to his house
02:28it was a certain Fabio Savi
02:31a body shop mechanic with no criminal record from Torriana
02:33who has a passion for weapons
02:35and which looks incredibly similar
02:37to one of the band members
02:39However, they discover that he is the brother of two policemen.
02:42of the Bologna police headquarters
02:43the largest of which, Roberto
02:45works in the 113 operations center
02:48he himself had himself immortalized in uniform
02:51in front of one of the many crime scenes of the 1 white
02:54but there is also another detail
02:56which pushes investigators to go down the right path
02:59Roberto Savi regularly owned two AR-70 rifles
03:03of the same model used by the gang
03:06but that's not all
03:07a check revealed that in all the robberies
03:10scored by the white 1
03:12strange case, Roberto was never on duty
03:16enough to make him put the handcuffs on his wrists
03:19from his own colleagues
03:21Fabio Savi is instead stopped
03:23while trying to escape to Austria
03:25together with his partner
03:27even the third brother is a policeman
03:29Alberto is part of the gang
03:33he was arrested a few days later
03:34together with three other colleagues
03:36Marino Occhipinti, Pietro Gugliotta
03:38and Luca Valicelli
03:396 out of 7 people from that terrible gang
03:43they belonged to the police force
03:45people who had sworn on the uniform
03:48to protect the community
03:49and who instead decided to destroy many lives
03:52including theirs
04:01Potello Stefanini is a young policeman
04:04January 4, 1991
04:07it is located in Bologna
04:08in the Pilastro district
04:10he is engaged in a simple routine check-up
04:15together with his two colleagues
04:17that day stops
04:19that white one
04:22the bandits fear they have been discovered
04:26and at that point they fire
04:28without mercy
04:29it is the bloodiest action
04:31of the 1 white gang
04:33and will be remembered as
04:35the Pillar Massacre
04:36that January 4th with Othello
04:39Mauro Mitilini also dies
04:41and Andrea Moneta
04:4224 years have passed
04:45but Othello's mother
04:47he certainly can't forget
04:49and invokes the certainty of punishment
04:51I was at his house
04:54listen to what he told me
04:59I had nothing
05:01we had dinner
05:02the other son had gone out
05:04because it was my nephew's party
05:06he had come from the military
05:08that the other son was a month old
05:09we went to bed
05:11and around midnight
05:13the phone rang
05:14we had the phone in the bedroom
05:17at which point my husband woke up
05:19he went there
05:19he made it ready ready
05:20and nobody answered him
05:22second phone call
05:24ready ready
05:26no one answers
05:27then we found out
05:28that these two phone calls
05:29he was my husband's brother
05:32who had read it on teletext
05:34who had been killed
05:35three carabinieri in Bologna
05:37and one was Stefanini Otello
05:39Andrea Moneta
05:40and Mauro Mitilini
05:41and my brother-in-law didn't have the courage
05:44to tell us anything
05:45because he felt calm
05:47the third phone call
05:50I got up
05:52because it was a bit
05:53I tell you how these phone calls are
05:55and so
05:56I went to the bathroom for a moment
05:58I went out
05:58and I heard a piercing scream
06:02and I did
06:02what happened
06:03and my husband who said
06:05No
06:06he was screaming
06:06no Othello
06:07no Othello
06:08but I couldn't
06:10I went there
06:11you tell him
06:12Adolfo
06:12why Screams
06:13then he looks at me
06:14with a look
06:15that I will never forget
06:16and he told me
06:16Anna Othello
06:17maybe he's dead
06:19I calmly
06:20I told him
06:21no Adolfo
06:24Othello cannot die
06:26because if Othello dies
06:27our family is over
06:29I understood unfortunately
06:31reality
06:31when it rang for me
06:33a captain of the Carabinieri
06:34me when I saw him
06:36he says I don't remember anything
06:37he says I fell
06:38all lengthwise on the ground
06:39after I remember that I went down
06:42the street here was all full
06:43of police gazelles
06:46there was the special
06:47everyone brought us
06:48in Bologna
06:48they brought us
06:50in command
06:50of the legion
06:52but nothing was known
06:53they didn't tell us anything
06:55and I prayed
06:56there was a military chaplain
06:58I told him
06:58please
06:59my son shows it to me
07:01and they told me
07:02no ma'am
07:03not now
07:03no let's see
07:04we returned to Rome
07:06then after we left again
07:08for the funeral
07:09what they did
07:10the state funeral
07:11and I only remember
07:13those three coffins
07:14those three coffins
07:15That
07:16I couldn't understand
07:18Meaning what
07:19no, I don't understand
07:20I couldn't realize
07:22that in one of those three coffins
07:24my son was there
07:25my dream
07:27my life
07:27what he discovered
07:30what did they tell her
07:31what he found
07:32justice
07:33about the facts
07:35of that day
07:36his son
07:37how he was killed
07:39why he was killed
07:41my son
07:42he stopped
07:43one one
07:43they have
07:44the three of them
07:44they stopped
07:45a white one
07:47let's calculate that it was
07:47January 4th
07:48it was 6 degrees
07:49below zero
07:50a gentleman
07:50from the window
07:51he saw a gesture being made
07:52to one of the
07:54of the occupants
07:55show him
07:56a document
07:59After
08:00logically
08:00doing three things
08:01it was understood
08:02which he showed him
08:02a membership card
08:04and from the car
08:05he only went down
08:06my son
08:08and they left again
08:09that day
08:10January 4th
08:12of 1991
08:14his son
08:15signature
08:16in fact
08:16his sentence
08:17to death
08:18when he sees
08:19a white one
08:21the stop
08:22asks for documents
08:23from a building
08:25someone sees
08:26that they show him
08:28a membership card
08:29something
08:29an occupant
08:30take it out
08:30from the pocket
08:31of the jacket
08:31a membership card
08:32maybe that
08:33of the police
08:34at that point
08:35his son
08:36say hello
08:38these people
08:39he gets back in the car
08:39and goes away
08:40he doesn't know that
08:41he just stopped
08:44the assassins
08:45of the white one
08:46these gentlemen
08:47follow
08:48and reach
08:50the machine
08:50where is his son
08:51with two others
08:52his colleague
08:52two other carabinieri
08:53and they massacre them
08:56Why?
08:57they wanted them dead
08:58because they were afraid
08:59that the correlation
09:00some things
09:01the white one
09:02there
09:02to the pillar
09:03and they were scared
09:05and they exterminated them
09:07because of this
09:07they did it
09:08there is also another detail
09:09the rough draft
09:10which has never been found
09:12that is, his son
09:12probably
09:13while he was in the car
09:15he was writing something
09:16the license plate
09:17something
09:17Instead
09:18nothing was found
09:20Othello
09:21here in Rome
09:22At home
09:22When
09:23had there been?
09:25the last New Year's Eve
09:26and here we have
09:28the photography
09:28who is with his brother
09:30she went home
09:31of a cousin of mine
09:32they were very good
09:34both
09:35happy
09:36happy
09:37that I think
09:38that if I could go back
09:40backwards
09:41in those moments
09:43I don't know what I would give
09:46in my life
09:50then I'm on the 3rd in the morning
09:51I prepared all the shirts for him
09:53things
09:54Mom, why are you getting up?
09:56and he went away
09:57why are you getting up?
09:58why do you get up to prepare everything for me
10:00he was leaving early
10:01and he
10:02he got a little angry
10:04and he kissed me
10:04hello fat girl
10:05he called me fat
10:06hello my fat girl
10:08and that was it
10:09the last time
10:10that I saw it
10:13wonderfully
10:13what day was it?
10:14it was the 3rd
10:15in the morning
10:26we are here
10:27at your home
10:28to the banks
10:29in this apartment
10:30where Tello was born
10:32where Tello was born
10:33and Alexander
10:34behind him
10:35there is a wall
10:35behind that wall
10:36there is a bedroom
10:37where is her husband
10:38that is not well
10:39he got sick
10:40the very day
10:41in which
10:43they killed Tello
10:44how is your husband?
10:46my husband had
10:47four cerebral ischemias
10:48she is 100% disabled
10:50the first
10:53strong thing
10:54he had it at the funeral
10:55her husband worked
10:57the last day
10:58as an ATAC driver
11:00January 4th
11:01January 4th
11:02of 91
11:03then he had
11:04this attack
11:04ischemic
11:05and no longer has
11:06No
11:07he no longer drove
11:08for four years
11:09him every day
11:10he went to the cemetery
11:11for four consecutive years
11:13everyday
11:14he went to his son
11:16I go there all the way
11:17now now
11:18I've been 25 years old
11:19every week
11:20from my son
11:21I feel like ironing it
11:23the shirts
11:24and put it in place
11:28I can only bring him flowers
11:30and prayers
11:31just this
11:34When
11:35when she finds out
11:36That
11:37to kill
11:38his son
11:39the other carabinieri
11:40they had been those
11:42of the white 1
11:43in November 94
11:45how does he find out
11:47from a phone call
11:49of a journalist
11:50what does he tell her?
11:52he tells me
11:53Lady
11:54he says
11:55she knows that
11:56to kill
11:58the three carabinieri
11:59they were the wise men
12:01and you can't imagine
12:03it's like they killed him
12:05one more time
12:06because at the thought
12:08than to kill my son
12:09they were people
12:11undivided like him
12:12you can't imagine
12:15what was possible
12:15happen in here
12:17when she
12:19was present
12:21in court
12:22for the process
12:24against
12:24those of the white 1
12:27against the wise
12:28What
12:28What
12:30what did he discover?
12:31I heard
12:32and I discovered
12:32some atrocious things
12:34for example
12:35by Mauro
12:36That
12:36they had it so much
12:39Who is Mauro?
12:40Mauro was behind him
12:42while Andrea
12:43he was close to my son
12:44to Andrea
12:46they had broken his femur
12:47and it dragged itself along
12:48Mauro Mitilini
12:50I had
12:51the head
12:53Almost
12:53there was no more
12:56when he sees them
12:57for the first time
12:58in the face
12:59the assassins
13:00of his son?
13:01I'm really good
13:02I saw
13:02only Roberto Savi
13:06because they
13:06once
13:07they had to arrive
13:08they didn't arrive
13:09me that day
13:10when I saw
13:11Roberto Savi
13:11in there
13:13I was
13:14the whole period
13:15standing
13:16I couldn't
13:16to sit down
13:17to which a marshal
13:19my son's friend
13:20he sent me
13:21a nearby policeman
13:22and I told him
13:23relax
13:24that I my carabiniere
13:26nearby
13:26I have it
13:27and he was my son
13:29I had to have
13:31the strength
13:32how will I have the strength
13:34as long as I live
13:36to speak
13:37of my son
13:38and to defend it
13:40and to defend it
13:40my son was dreaming
13:42as I dreamed
13:43for him
13:43a beautiful life
13:45a family
13:47I was that up to
13:48was assigned
13:49he wants things
13:49stay in Bologna
13:50me so much
13:51I am not a woman
13:52that creates problems
13:53I'm taking the train
13:55even if my husband
13:57then he was fine
13:58I had no problems
14:00let's take the train
14:01let's go
14:02let's go and find
14:03then we come back
14:04and instead this dream
14:06it broke
14:09it's all over
14:10with a
14:11Like this
14:12with a phone call
14:14of that night
14:16What was Othello like?
14:17are you telling us about Othello?
14:18he was a boy
14:19marvelous
14:20Good
14:22he loved animals
14:24the children
14:25he loved children
14:29I was a boy
14:31no because it was
14:32my son
14:33also beautiful
14:35because he says
14:36every cockroach
14:37it's beautiful
14:37but anyway
14:38he was a great
14:39handsome young man
14:40very sweet
14:40he was fine
14:41in Bologna
14:42how tall he was
14:42six foot three
14:44era
14:45someone
14:45he asked her
14:46to forgive
14:48who killed
14:49his son?
14:50many times
14:51I was asked
14:51to forgive
14:52and who asked for it?
14:53once
14:54a letter arrived
14:55but I never opened it
14:57I have never
14:57I won't even open it
14:58a letter from whom?
14:59I think it's from Roberto
15:00it seems to me
15:01Roberto Sari
15:02it seems to me
15:03but I didn't open it at all
15:05I don't even want to read it
15:07also because
15:07knowing who wrote it
15:09I don't even want it
15:11touch
15:12nor touch
15:13nor anything
15:13the dad
15:15of these three brothers
15:18one fine day
15:19decides to take his own life
15:22it's written
15:23who left a note
15:25with one sentence
15:26I ask God for forgiveness
15:28but I can't take it anymore
15:29to move forward
15:30yes yes
15:31I found out
15:33but I have to tell you the truth
15:34I only have one
15:38a Christian compassion
15:40what did he know?
15:42of this family
15:44and what about these children?
15:45I know that the father
15:48he had his own mentality
15:50his thing
15:51that if they would tell me
15:52to be the mother
15:53by Otello Stefanini
15:54or the mother
15:55of the three of them
15:57I with all the death
15:59in the heart
15:59I ask you
16:00which I prefer
16:01to be the mother
16:02by Otello Stefanini
16:03because I don't know
16:04if I could bear it
16:05have three daughters
16:06of the genre
16:07who killed
16:08all these people
16:17what he thinks
16:18of these people
16:19that today
16:20I'm coming back
16:21in quotation marks
16:22to live
16:23they shouldn't
16:26that is for me
16:28not even the death penalty
16:30because I don't
16:31they are not
16:32for the sail of death
16:33but these are people
16:34that were supposed to be
16:35put in jail
16:36and throw away the keys
16:37they their life
16:39it had to end
16:39how did it end
16:40my son's
16:41and others
16:42of 24 people
16:44it had to end
16:45theirs too
16:46they can't
16:47to expect nothing
16:49and I as long as I have
16:50a thread of life
16:51I will always fight
16:53I want people
16:54memories
16:55what he could
16:57make these people
17:00when I'm on television
17:02I heard myself say
17:03Fabio Savi said
17:05we killed
17:05for the taste
17:06to kill
17:07it had become there
17:09like a drug
17:10I can lose
17:13a son
17:13not to have
17:15my life
17:16and know it
17:17because they
17:17they had to kill
17:19I am convinced
17:20that if these gentlemen
17:21they go out
17:22they're doing it again
17:23one more time
17:24to these judges
17:25to whom it will have to
17:26one day decide
17:27if to say yes
17:29or not
17:29if
17:30in quotation marks
17:31forgive
17:32the killer
17:33of his son
17:34What
17:35it would mean
17:36for me
17:36there must be
17:37certain punishment
17:38I gave it to you
17:39and you do it
17:40but you have to do it
17:42even all of it
17:42as long as you are a person
17:44to be recovered
17:45but I don't think so
17:46that can be recovered
17:47who killed
17:4824 people
17:49and 103 injured
17:51this is my answer
17:52and I hope
17:53that the State too
17:54who makes the laws
17:56whoever
17:57think about this
17:58you have to think about this
18:00because when a mother
18:01a child is taken away
18:02or a daughter
18:03as I hear so many cases
18:05and you walk down the street
18:07and see who killed you
18:08it's like they killed you
18:10ten times
18:11a few weeks ago
18:13we aired
18:14I interviewed
18:15the wife of a policeman
18:17who has forgiven
18:18who killed
18:19the husband
18:20what he thinks
18:22of this forgiveness
18:23of this forgiveness
18:24I think she
18:25if he can
18:27good for her
18:28but there is a small difference
18:31I love my husband
18:33because my life
18:34my life
18:35here I am in two years
18:35I'm celebrating 50 years of marriage
18:37since
18:38I was 15 years old
18:39my life
18:40without my husband
18:41it doesn't make sense
18:42but I can tell you
18:44that the pain of a son
18:46nothing surpasses it
18:49the pain of a son
18:50it's a thing
18:51that pierces you
18:52and you always feel it
18:54here
18:54and here
18:56you get up in the morning
18:58you go to bed
18:58in the evening
18:59your thoughts
19:00it's always there
19:01when I go to the cemetery
19:02I talk to him
19:03Hi my love
19:05I tell him
19:06How are you
19:08I have to talk to him
19:09otherwise I'll go crazy
19:10how I talk to him
19:11here at home
19:12you see
19:12all full of him
19:13hand
19:14with sadness
19:16I have my little granddaughter
19:17that when he enters
19:18he says hello to you uncle
19:19he greets him
19:21as if he were here
19:22why me
19:23my son
19:24he can't have abandoned me
19:26then these gentlemen
19:28when to me
19:28they ask me for forgiveness
19:30I can give it to him
19:33if they give me my son back
19:35and if they let me come back
19:37my husband
19:37as it was before
19:39since this is one thing
19:41impossible
19:42then it's impossible
19:43my forgiveness too
19:45HI
