00:00Yeah, I think, J.Y., the appropriate place for us to start, though, man,
00:04is the San Antonio Spurs, really handling business in dominant fashion.
00:10And, you know, series come in all shapes and sizes, right?
00:15Sometimes you get a four-game series that feels, hey, that was competitive,
00:18despite it being a sweep.
00:20Sometimes you get a six-game series where you go, man,
00:23as somebody who bet Minnesota plus two-and-a-half games, J.Y.,
00:26thank goodness we got out of there with a win,
00:29because these teams, by the end of it, weren't all that close.
00:36The Spurs, in their four victories, won by 38, 29, and 30 in three of those four,
00:45a seven-point road win in game number three, being that other victory here.
00:51I'm not taking away from Minnesota.
00:53We can talk Minnesota, but J.Y., for a Spurs team
00:57who have their eyes on legitimately winning a championship.
01:02The Spurs' goal is not, hey, make the conference finals and push OKC.
01:05Their goal is to win a championship.
01:07I thought they needed to close this series in six,
01:10and they absolutely did it in style, J.Y., with a 139-109 victory.
01:17And it's just the guard play.
01:19I think, you know, when you look back at this,
01:21and I had David Shepard from Sirius XM NBA on a couple of days ago,
01:28and he just made a great point.
01:29Like, the two games that the Spurs lost,
01:34Wemby was awful in game one,
01:36and he got thrown out in game, I guess, four, right?
01:40When he played, it was a different series.
01:44And the crazy thing about it is,
01:47is last night, Wemby was pedestrian.
01:52But when you turn around, Kevin,
01:55and you get, I mean, 32 out of Castle,
01:5821 out of Fox, 18 out of Champagny, right?
02:0215 out of Harper.
02:03Like, it's very OKC-ish.
02:09It's death by a thousand cuts.
02:11And it's like, that is what makes
02:14what we're about to see
02:18the most intriguing of them all,
02:20because, and I'm a Knick fan,
02:23with all due respect to everybody else in the East,
02:25these are the two youngest teams,
02:27they're the two deepest teams.
02:30And you saw a way that when,
02:32and this is what is important,
02:34and I think this is what we need to learn
02:36about some of these young teams,
02:37is when you have a team on the ropes
02:41in a closeout game,
02:43can you answer the bell and do it?
02:46Kevin, 13-point game at the halftime,
02:50and then 36-23, third quarter,
02:53drive home safely, end the series.
02:56That is what I saw last night.
02:58It's a young team that said,
02:59we got a team on the ropes,
03:01we're on the road,
03:03we don't want to play around,
03:04let's throw a knockout punch now,
03:07and end it.
03:08Something that we've seen OKC do
03:09last year and this year as well.
03:12Yeah, J-Y, I think your point, though,
03:14about how the way San Antonio was built
03:17feels similar to Oklahoma City
03:19is important,
03:20and I think teams around the league
03:23are going to take note.
03:26Darren, by the way, again, long intro,
03:28didn't get, Darren Borey got fired,
03:30all right?
03:31One of the most noteworthy GMs
03:34of the last, I mean, certainly decade, J-Y,
03:38maybe longer in this league,
03:41gets fired,
03:42and you could pretty easily argue
03:44it's because he was stuck in a time
03:47that this league no longer exists in,
03:49where he goes,
03:51hey, man, I got a big three,
03:52Maxie, Embiid, George,
03:55and that, you know,
03:57because, you know, Joe,
03:58I'm sure you follow Sixers fans,
03:59talk to Sixers fans,
04:00they're watching these NBA playoffs,
04:03and a guy like Julian Champagne,
04:05who was a part of their organization,
04:08getting critical minutes.
04:09They're watching Paul Reed,
04:10who was a part of that organization
04:11for a while,
04:12get critical minutes.
04:14Jared McCain,
04:14obviously,
04:15get critical minutes.
04:16It's the youth and depth
04:19that Oklahoma City brought
04:20to the table last year
04:21was obviously something
04:23that San Antonio brought
04:25to the table this year,
04:26but here's the thing.
04:27It's not just young depth.
04:30You have to also be really,
04:32really good,
04:32and, man,
04:34we know how good Wemby is.
04:36We do,
04:37but, J-Y,
04:38and I know you're such a fan
04:39of both these guys,
04:40what makes San Antonio so exciting
04:43is the combination
04:45of Stephon Castle
04:46and Dylan Harper
04:47for what should be the next,
04:49however long the Wemby run is,
04:51right?
04:52I'm not acting as if those guys
04:54are on Victor Webin-Yama's level.
04:55I am not.
04:56What I am saying
04:57is in the way
04:59the Golden State Warriors,
05:01when Steph Curry
05:03was ready to be Steph Curry,
05:05they had Clay Thompson
05:08and Draymond Green in-house
05:09because they drafted well,
05:11right?
05:12And, again,
05:12those guys weren't,
05:13you know,
05:13first and second overall choices,
05:15right?
05:15But Wemby has
05:18what should really be,
05:20J-Y,
05:20the second and third best guys
05:22for this run,
05:24right?
05:25They have two guys
05:27that I think we both expect
05:28to make multiple All-Star games,
05:31and let me give a shout-out
05:32to a guy that
05:35we didn't know a lot about,
05:37and I thought,
05:38man,
05:38is this risky
05:39to hand Mitch Johnson
05:41the Victor Webin-Yama job?
05:43I thought he should have been
05:44Coach of the Year,
05:45quite frankly.
05:46I thought that he was not
05:47taken serious enough
05:48in that race.
